  1. LOL Puppyphat I was going to say pretty much the same thing about the sweets. it's hilarious - my new coping mechanism is that I buy the sweets and then take them in to the admin staff the next day cause I won't eat it. Before I'd eat the whole lot on top of my massive dinner. Now, as long as I say I will try that if I am still hungry after dinner, I usually don't touch it. The only thing I do have is a bag of peanut M&M's in my fridge. A 55g bag lasts about two weeks lol. But it fixes my craving and you know, Protein hahahahaha. With regards to what we eat, I am sure it is all different. I use myfitnesspal.com to track what I eat and I get in on average about 500 cal per day. An example of where I am (at 5 months) is: Breakfast 8-10 grapes or half a piece of multigrain bread with ham, cheese and tomato lunch 3 crackers and cheese (munchables) or quarter-half a chicken, cheese and avo sandwhich on multi (takes about an hour) Dinner Lean protein about 30-50g (a meatball or piece of ham), brocoli and carrot or 1 piece of Multigrain bread with ham, cheese and tomato melted Snacks Pistacio (not every day) Peanut M&M (not every day) I can't eat steak, chicken, eggs, lamb or pork. Too heavy for me still. It looks like I eat a lot of bread but I actually try to keep it to one meal per day. I find that I can eat more if I take longer i.e. lunch is usually my biggest meal cause I have an hour to sit around eating with friends. Brekky is quick (admittedly usually at the computer at work, hence grapes) and dinner is usually quick cause I am so disinterested in eating - I am over it by the end of the day. With regards to the time it takes to eat, my NUT said that I should stop after 20 minutes otherwise i will get in the habit of grazing. I don't want to do that so I am trying to challenge myself not to do that. The consequence is that I am eating less again which doesn't help the weak/ shakey feeling I get at times. Anyway, I hope this helps a little but wouldn't worry if you have more than I do - I've only been eating for 3 months not 5 due to the leak so I am probably a bit behind Cheers, Lila
  2. Hey Sara Congrats on a good outcome! Don't rush, go back when you feel you can and then commit to your decision it sounds like you are setting yourself up for success anyway! With regards to the sweets, I know I can eat three peanut M&M's and feel okay. If I even have one more, I am sick. It happens when I have too much sugar. Example - had one coffee with a sugar in it - it was okay. I had a second one several hours later and that was enough to send me off. I had to have a lie down. I was sick and my heart was racing. Another friend who was sleeved years ago tells me she has the same thing - her story was that she ate about a third of a Maccas sundae and had heart palpitations and had to lie down for hours too. And thanks for the congrats
  3. LOL Sue - it's so funny...people keep coming up to me and grabbing my waist, saying "look how skinny you are"....it's oddly disconcerting and funny at the same time. BTW I live in a very small town where I grew up and I am related to 50 percent of inhabitants and grew up with the rest lol. Still, it's odd It's also really nice too. I went into work today and all the nurses wanted me to "do a little turn" - felt like a bit of a rock star hehehehe. You know, with the exception of a little run in with my mother the other day, I haven't had a single negative comment from anyone about this. Even my friend, a diabetic nurse, who is really kinda mean about other people we know who had the sleeve has been really supportive. I think it's cause I have so much to lose that she could understand it was impossible without the surgery. It's lovely having all the support though- I am truly blessed!!!
  4. hahahaha puppyphat Glad it's not just me!!!
  5. Hey Carolyn, Welcome!!! Congratulations on starting this journey. There are a lot of experienced 'sleevers' who are ready to help you out so don't be afraid to post! I laughed a little when I saw your post about people watching what you eat - the flip side (for me at least) has been people still watch but they are seeing how little you eat and harp on about that. Have to admit though I prefer that to the other! Cheers, Lila
  6. Thanks guy's It's been a good week this week! And here is a shot of me in my skinny jeans and top Only another 19kg to go until the surgeon's goal - about 32 kg until mine but anything more than 19kg is a bonus!!
  7. Sarah that dude sounded like a ****** and I wouldn't worry about him. Perhaps his concern was you'd have an injury but he could have dealt with it in a much better manner. I am so pleased you called the manager! Don't let them get away with it!
  8. Hi guy's So two pieces of great news - have now lost 61kg and I GOT THE PROMOTION So excited and happy! Love my sleeve!
  9. Hi - I had surgery on 3 September and developed a leak immediately, having emergency surgery two days later. I had a prolonged hospital stay (two months) and am home now, trying to put my life back together. For anyone else who had a leak, can you let me know if you had any further problems? I am so worried about the leak coming back! I've been fine and every week that goes by I get a little less scared but I would love to hear from others who survived a leak and if they had any other issues... Thanks for any help you can give me...
  10. Thanks all feeling pretty good about it all! Should know by the end of next week - it's going to be a long week Will have to get out there and exercise my stress away instead of eating it - thank goodness I have my new running app to motivate me
  11. Hi guy's - went and got my outfit for my job interview on Wednesday. So excited - that's a size 16 Thomas Cook skirt I am wearing in this pic LOVE my sleeve!!
  12. Hi Sue - if you do go to a psychologist, make sure that they not only have the bariatric experience by therapeutic experience too. I saw the psychologist once that I got as part of my "package" and he literally gave me a tick and flick assessment. Not sure if it is because I am a psychologsit too that he decided not to waste his "precious" time in building that pesky rapport or engagement or something else entirely. Anyway, as it was my only experience in GETTING therapy (not delivering it) I was ....underwhelmed might be the nicest way to put it lol. With your weight loss, my surgeon (when giving me goals to reach etc) said that the body kind of works out when it's lost enough and where it is happy, so not to sweat it. Now I am still 21kg away from her goal (and 35 away from my own) so I am not even close to worrying about this stuff yet but maybe if you're less anxious, things will settle. Corisol is the stress hormone and can be linked to weightloss - hope this helps Cheers, Liss
  13. There are so many foods like that for me. Most foods are like that for me lol. But the biggest thing is Pasta - I used to eat SO MUCH of it before the surgery - had it twice, the last time ended up with me riding the porcelin bus and it "cured" me of my craving for pasta. I can't have dairy at all besides a little greek yoghurt and then only if I have it with fresh fruit. I can have chocolate - peanut M&M's are my thing. I have to stop at 3 though cause even if I just have that one more I feel sick and yuck. I realised this after scarfing down half a dozen and feeling really unwell for about an hour afterwards. The biggest thing is that I used to LIVE at Macca's - I don't think I even realised how often i was there. Now, I never go and if I do, I usually just get a cup of tea i love how much that has changed
  14. OMG I so relate to this. My story is a little different though - I made home made spaghetti just like I used to (from scratch the whole shebang) - from beginning to end, it took hours. I used to do it all the time and it was the first time I had done it since the surgery. Now, this would be okay if I didn't LIVE ALONE lol. So I cook this feast, eat a few forkfuls and am full. But do I stop? Hell no. I decide to have "just one more bite..." - cut to me puking my guts up for the next 30 minutes. I kept heaving long after I had gotten rid of all of the content from my stomach. As you can imagine, it has cured me of my sketti cravings. For good
  15. I am doing the City to Surf in August so have to work up to 14km - walk not run though lol
  16. Have downloaded the app but realised that my joggers NO LONGER FIT lol. They're at least two sizes to big now. So I am going to buy new one's on the weekend and I plan to start on Sunday. We will see how I go - I still get quite shakey even just walking but I can't keep doing nothing! Will let you know how it goes!!
  17. God I really am out of it Will find the thread and join!! Thanks Deano!
  18. LOL it is 8 weeks - no idea why I typed 10???? *slapsforehead*
  19. I have 15kg to go to get to double digits Still a ways off...but it's nice knowing that I'll get there! Got a new app tonight - it's to get you from the couch to 5km run in 10 weeks. The app is free and called C25K. It seems to start you off with 30 mins where you jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds. Apparently I'll be running 5km in 40 minutes in just 8 weeks. Well, we will see how that goes lol Got to get new joggers first - my old one's (which are only about 8 months old) are too big lol. who knew I also carried weight in my feet hahahahaha
  20. Wow that sounds like an amazing trip Aussiegirl! I hope you have a fantastic time!!
  21. Job interview in one week. Decided to try on appropriate clothes - skinny clothes - for the interview. NOTHING FITS! It's all too big I LOVE MY SLEEVE - will be going into this interview with confidence
  22. Hey Kate - don't know about other's but my weight loss in the weeks after surgery wasn't great. I actually remember gaining weight when I was in hospital (though it was due to the leak and Fluid issues from the drips etc) and it was really tough. And then it started melting away So don't worry about it not moving too fast initially - my experience has been that it does kick off and then you won't know yourself!! Cheers, Lila
  23. Wow Puppyphat, that is amazing and congrats. I know what you mean about your weight. I haven't weighed myself for nearly two weeks and I am worried about getting on the scale - afraid I am going to see my first gain. I hope it goes away and I get a little less stressed about the whole eating/ food thing!!
  24. Thanks Lizzy It's good now - great actually! I went shopping today with my mum and aunt - I was shopping in the same stores as them!! Just a regular, normal store and I bought a size 18 skirt that frankly was a little big in the waist. It wasn't even the largest size they had (they went up to a 20). This from the girl who couldn't fit into some size 26 prior to surgery! It was great!! It gives me such a thrill to be able to do that! I can't wait for you to experience this too
