  1. Well I am back home from surgery, so I think everything should be ok. I am having abdominal pain, but trying to get in enough liquids
  2. Thanks everyone! After the third X-ray they have cleared me and I'm onto the water trails.
  3. My surgery was yesterday. I had a really rough night - started throwing up blood in the recovery room. I just had my leak test and there was a concern about one place. They just came in for a follow up video extra on my stomach. I was feeling better but now I'm getting really nervous. .. Did anyone else have the follow up video exray?
  4. Good luck! I am heading in in 3 hours. So thirsty. In ope it goes smoothly for both of us.
  5. Wow we are very similar. I am 5'10 & currently 275 maybe a bit lower. I am a single mom who travels for work also and I'm 32. I'm having my surgery tomorrow. I'm really ready to be on the recovering side. I'm nervous about tomorrow, but ready for it. Good luck!
  6. Jayson, I recently started going to OA. I'm not religious, so that worried me, but I am finding it extremely helpful. I'd recommend checking it out. If it isn't for you you've only lost an hour of time.
  7. I have the same worry. Just terrified something will happen and they will cancel the surgery. I'm 6 days away!!! Can't wait to be recovering,
  8. This is a great post. I am really struggling through figuring out my food issues right now. Reading this is helping me see how I am not alone. I am having my surgery on the 12th, so one week from today I will be recovering . If it was as easy as losing weight I would be so happy. I have done that before but it always comes back. I had a rough pysch eval. She brought up that I might not be a good candidate for this surgery because of my emotional eating. I was really frustrated with her because I was like uhhh... That is why I need this surgery. But I Have been reflecting on it and working with my therapist more to to really try and tackle the underlying issues along with my physical need to lose weight. I have been going to my therapist once a week but also started going to OA. I am not religious, but no hoping to find some kind of spirituality to help me. I have accepted that my parents are alcoholics and have been my entire life. But I'm not really sure how it all equates to my weight issues. My sister and brother had weight issues but both conquered them in their 20s. They both drink and smoke a lot of weed, so maybe they have just chosen a different drug. It is nice to see so many people who have faced similar issues and have come to a better understanding of the causes. I am still working on it, and very hopeful for success and happiness.
  9. I'm doing ok. I'm at 786 calories for the day and it's 8:07pm here. I'm really wanting something bad, but pretty sure I will just have a sugarfree popsicle and go to bed. It's really easy to try and talk myself into eating something bad. I know if I stay strong tonight tomorrow will be easier. We are getting close.
  10. Sabredy - how are you doing now? Each day seems to be getting a little bit easier. I had a hard time sleeping last night b/c I was so hungry, but I'm really proud that I didn't give in. Today is flying by - hopefully tonight is easier than last night. We are close to only a week to wait!
  11. So hungry. Pretty good day. I'm going to escape the night time munchies in dreamland. One day closer. Night all!
  12. Hi everyone! I'm being sleeved on the 12th. I'm on my pre-op diet day 5. I have been struggling a lot with it, but each day seems to be a bit easier. I can't wait to be on the recovery side of this. Good luck to everyone. Keep up the hard work!
  13. Thank you everyone! I put everyone into MFP today and realized I had 120g of carbs! I can't believe it. I ate Protein & veg all day w/ 1 cup of berries. The veg, yogurt and milk had way more carbs than I realized. I stuck with <800 calories, but need to adjust the veggies tomorrow. Do you have any tips on low carb veggies? I had broccoli, brussel sprouts, and snow peas today. I guess I just need to have less. So hard!
  14. My surgery is on the 12th too. I'm really struggling pre-op as well. I'm trying to keep busy...
  15. 2 weeks. I can not wait until December 13th and I am back home from Surgery (on the 12th). What about you?
  16. Well today is day 4 of my pre-op diet (round 2 b/c surgery was pushed back). I'm really struggling with hunger. I had a slip yesterday and I think that is causing the hunger to come on very strong. I have my food planned out for the day -- high Protein & veg, low carb (max 800 calories, 100 g carb, min 60 g protein). I am due to have a yogurt this afternoon and am trying to wait as long as possible so that it can carry me through dinner. I don't know how people are able to stick to this. If I could do this, I would not be here. It was a struggle to stick to 1400 calories a day. Arg. I understand the point of it, and want my surgery to go well, but it is crazy hard. Just venting - thanks for listening and not blasting me.
  17. Good Luck! I hope everything is going well. I'm a bit jealous sitting here suffering through my pre-op diet. I can't wait to be on the recovering side of this.
  18. Well despite the horrible meeting with the psychologist, after she received paperwork from my PCP and my therapist, she has approved me. My surgery date is December 9th! OMG this is really going to happen
  19. Good luck tomorrow! I can't wait for my weight to stop me putting my life on hold. I feel so gross lately that I just don't do allow of the things I love. My date is December 9th, so I'll be a few weeks behind you. .
  20. Women's sizes vary significantly depending on the brand. When I was 195 I wore mostly 14s but could fit in some 12 and one 10 skirt. It depends on. Your frame, muscle mass, and most importantly the designer. I'm 5'10, I do think height affects it as well. Lots of online shopping you can turn too. But you might find your mobility is much better once you start losing
  21. Mel - I am going to tell the surgeon about my experience on Monday. Part of me just wants to play nice with this lady because she has been moving forward and may approve it, and I have already given her $300. Unless there is a valid concern that she can explain to me, I would like my surgery to move forward as scheduled, and I think finishing this with her will be the best way. I do 100% refuse to pay her anymore money. Regardless of how it turns out, I would like him to know that the person I was referred to by his office was completely unprofessional.
  22. I felt very much like a piece of data to her. She did not look me in the eyes, she was looking out the door the entire time of the session. She also sat all the way across the room. She told me to sit on one couch, and rather than sitting on the chair opposite to it, she sat on the couch behind that chair. She cut me off after yes or no answers saying she just needed a yes or no. Then said she wasn't sure I was a good candidate, but when I pressed for why she had very vague answers. I still think it is likely she will approve me, but I left the session very emotionally drained. She looked at a bunch of test questions, yes or no answers to very personal things and then judged me. It was really a horrible experience.
  23. I am self pay and found a surgeon that I am very comfortable in Mexico (Dr Ramos Kelly). My PCP looked him up with me and was on board. He said he would have no problem helping me with any follow up care. My parents however are not at all comfortable with Mexico. They convinced me to do the surgery in Chicago (they are helping me fund the additional cost of doing it here). I am working with a surgeon in Chicago, but have not been impressed so far with everything. I had a horrible experience with his psychologist and am unsure about his nutritionist so far (have my one on one with her on Monday). I have a surgery date 12/9, but based on the discussion with the psychologist she might want to push it back b/c she needs paperwork done from my Doctor & Therapist and is unable to e-mail it so it must be done by snail mail (?!?!) Because I had a surgery date, I have already bought tickets for my mother to come to Chicago for that date and set up the time off from work. So changing it at this point would be stressful on many fronts and expensive! I'm meeting with the surgeon on Monday, so should just remain calm and wait for that discussion, but the uncertainty has me very stressed out. I am not wishing I just went with my gut and went to Mexico. I would already be in recovery if things do not go well on Monday, I may just take that route regardless. Has anyone had a similar experience? Did you do the surgery where your family wanted or do what made you feel most comfortable?
  24. Thanks. Reading on here people seem to say if you understand the surgery and have things together it will go fine. I definitely fit those two criteria, but this women was very vague but discouraging. Ugh. I'm meeting with my therapist today and will follow up with the psychiatrist on the phone. I absolutely will not pay that women any more money as I felt she was completely unprofessional. I guess if needed I will need to get another eval from someone else. I don't understand how you can tell someone they may not be a good candidate without clear logical reasoning.
  25. She made me pay cash as well & was recommended by the surgeon. Was this Dr. Holliday by any chance? It just felt so odd. I have been reading other people's experiences and they say the pysch eval is just to see that they understand the surgery and are capable of making the decision. Thank you for responding.
