I love the way I look and feel
teacherlady2133 replied to c-love's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also am learning to love myself.. I agree, each person wears their weight differently.. I just hit 199. My highest weight 350 my lowest I can remember around age 14 was 180, but I was a size 16 then... It is so weird 3 kids later and I am now a size 12/14... Even bought a 10 yesterday and it fit... I keep thinking my bones have to be made of lead... My goal weight for myself was 175.. I am 5'8. Dr never set a goal just said "keep with the program" when first discussed WLS I said, 180 was my goal and his nurse said very doable... -
Fuzzy monkey Your skin is so beautiful... Do you use a special makeup? Congrats on the weight loss too..you guys look amazing

Baggy or fitted?
teacherlady2133 replied to gettinghealthymom1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wear fitted for two reasons.. First is every inch of me feels soft so the fitted makes me more comfortable even makes my aches and pains go away.. Other is I have a hard time seeing any changes in my body even after 150 pounds gone, so fitted helps my mind wrap around this new me.. I always wear tight tank tops under everything got them at the dollar store.. I do all my shopping this last year at local goodwill and have been able to switch out my clothing often I do not buy a lot at a time.. I haven't gotten the courage yet for leggings I want to, but not sure... I am a size 30/32 4x to a size 12/14 med. -
Getting cold feet ❄
teacherlady2133 replied to Jkpizano5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 37 with three kids when I did the surgery and I have no regets.. It has changed my life in so many ways... Yes I eat different but the trade off is so worth it... My kids and I can do things together, mom can dance and even help around the house without having to take so many breaks..I just got my first teaching job and I can teach all day and come home and still have time for them.... Do what is best for you... Is what you have now the life you want for yourself and your kids? I wanted more for them then just taking care of their mom, I wanted to be able to care for them... -

Too weak for exercise?
teacherlady2133 replied to LightlyMyDarling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure your taking you B12 and vitamins... It can get worst if you don't get on a regular schedule.. If I miss my vitamins I am tired... Also don't forget your body is still healing... Sometimes we see the little scars close up and quickly forget what happened inside our bodies... -

Friendships and Gastric bypass surgery
teacherlady2133 replied to leag78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Be prepared for it to change... You will change, your outlook on things will change, and how you allow others to treat you will change...I have had only one friend that I lost.. But I think it was a combination of things going on... Her own issues of fitting in and proving herself as good enough... She has taken up working out and eating different and changing her life which I am glad, but I am not competing with anyone anymore... I am too old for that high school stuff... My family has been very supportive even when they can not relate to my issues... They try... I have one friend that supports the changes in me... Tells me all the time she likes the new me.. How I am more out going and voice my stuff more... This is more than just a physical change... I wish I knew before surgery more how my thoughts and feelings would have to adjust... -
I am glad to see the goal weight isn't off those charts..I know some point in my life I weighted under 180 but I must have been around 13... I am the smallest I ever remember at a size 14 and weighing 205 my goal is 175 and I will be happy... I agree 3 babies and being heavy my whole life... Yea I will be very happy...

I think the last comment was out of line... I am sorry that others can't find compassion for the topic... I am sorry your marriage is going through this... If you have a strong foundation you guys will get through this... Hang in there...

Cupcake, rock climbing sounds fun. We have around the same goal weight. I am looking forward to hitting it also in 2015. I hope before my 1 year... It is encouraging to see others hit goal weight... Can I ask who sets goal weight my Dr. Has never talked final weight with me.. Just keeping with the program...

It gets better I promise... I am 8 months out.. I remember the weeks of living on Wendy's chili and cottage cheese...and protein shakes, But it changed quickly.. I know it feels like it will not get Better now but it does... The weight starts melting away and things get easier... Still have to watch what I eat and how fast but it does get better...

This has been my issue too!! Clothes oh my... I have went from a size 30/32 to a 12/14... Throughout this season of change Goodwill has been the best place for me... Being a teacher I had to make sure my clothes were presentable.... Skirts and more skirts. I did find I love to wear under shirts(tank tops) to help when the shirts are too short and pants/skirts seem too tight.. Helps with the rolls.. I told my husband the other day.. It is a woman thing...no matter your size you fight with clothes....

Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
teacherlady2133 replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can handle comments.. Most of the time I see people not knowing what to say.. Out of their own lack of comfort they speak.....at times I struggle with what to say too so... That's life... I do not think people should be nasty to each other. I would hope I have made good choices with the people that are around me, so I can wink off any crossing of the line comments. -

I really like your hair dark.. -
Ok my new year goals for 2015, go sledding.. Tubing to be exact..jump on a trampoline with my 11 year old. Learn to dance, yep trying to learn line dances is fun, but letting go of fear is outrageously hard...ride a bike, Drink more water, eat my meals correctly(stock work fridge to help with choices). Get to goal weight by surgery anniversary...be such an effective teacher they have no choice but to keep me for next school year! Find normal... Or at least a balance of joy, happiness, love and stress...normal is like asking for a unicorn...unicorn would be easier!!!

I had/have a hernia the size of a melon and was in extreme pain. During the WLS the doctor was able to release the hernia but will not fix it until I have enough weight gone so the hernia repair will hold. The release did help with the pain.. If nothing else see if the Dr can adjust the hernia to help with pain... Just an idea...

I feel like that some days. It is funny sometimes I can't choke down 2 bites then other times I am waiting for that too full feeling and it never comes. I am 8 months out.

How did your weight loss affect your marriage/relationship?
teacherlady2133 replied to majorsmama's topic in The Gals' Room
Married 16 years... My husband has been Very supportive, but there has been issues.. One comes from others... He gets very upset when others say I bet he is so excited and happy, or what does your husband think... He takes them questioning that he loved me heavy.. Or that now he loves me more since I am thinner.. Something else I think has happened is how to handle my new interest or new experiences I want to have.. Sometimes the tension of doing things together where I want to try things and he wants to watch is there... The emotions of all the physical changes can also causes tension.. My own tears still over clothes fitting right. He is kind and tries to understand I have good days and bad days no matter my size... He tells me everyday I am his world and anything that will keep me here longer was worth everything we go through...we did this for my health... And it has gotten so much better... -
Illinois medicaid question
teacherlady2133 replied to Ready set go!'s topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Ohio Medicaid and had my Dr document medical diet too. The key was to see them every 30 days for weight loss recorded and notes that you talked about weight loss or diet..that can included food choices and portion control.. The notes were not really detailed... Weight recorded why I was there weight loss and sometimes it had notes about the topic... This help count toward the 6 months I had 3 with my Dr. And 3 with Nutrition from program. Good luck
