If someone went to that person and said they could have a surgery and change diet and it would cure multiple major issues and prolong their life by YEARS, do you think they would feel they deserved the surgery???
You deserve it and to live longer, healthier life!
Hope your surgery went well today.

I hear y'all. I was happily drinking my Premier chocolate until right after surgery. Gag!! But it was all I had. Eventually, I got back to drinking it without feeling bad. Still ... am sooo tired of just that. I'm waiting on an order of Syntrax strawberry Kiwi. Should be here tomorrow. I'll let you know if I like it.
Next thing I'm gonna do is get the unflavored and start adding it to other foods. Sounds like a good way to get the whey in. (ha ha .. get it ... ha ha ... way to get the whey!!) Ok, well at least I enjoy my humor! LOL
Lol Homonyms are great! My 8 year old twin daughters are learning them now.

My Dr. said that he will have Pre-Op Diet for those whose BMI is over 48. I am under 48 but was thinking about doing Low Carb High Protein diet the week before to help with recovery. Not sure though, might just have 7 last meals lol.

Not going to lie, the catheter is a slight concern. I found I will have one put in after I am out but not sure when it comes out.
My surgery is Dec 26th and this had been great information on subject I was wondering about! Thanks to all of you!

I just found out late last week that my insurance approved my surgery and I now have a date of December 26th. I am really excited and also kinda freaked out. Originally I was supposed to have the sleeve but my surgeon called me last week and decided that the bypass would be the better surgery because of some other health issues that I have. I didn't think it was going to happen this quickly. My insurance is dropping me at the end of December and I will have new insurance by January 1st but they just seemed to be dragging their feet in approving me just so time would run out and they wouldn't have to pay. I was flabbergasted when the nurse telephoned me and said I was approved. If I wait and do it through my newer insurance it will be $4,0000 out of my pocket. So I'm on the schedule for the 26th. All I can say is I am grateful but scared.
We have same surgery date!
I am having gastric bypass too.
Also I am in same situation with insurance costs going way up in January.
Good luck and knew you are not alone in this journey.

Had all the fun Pre-Op Tests completed yesterday and it was interesting, impressive, and irritating all in one day.
INTERESTING
Never had upper GI for first time and I felt like a human milkshake bottle. Dr had me flip few times to get barium alll over stomach. He actually shook my belly even, it was odd to say the least lol. And the taste of the barium, yummy. It tasted like how I imagine the poo from chalk would taste. I asked if they had it in strawberry flavor and Dr laughed because they tried that once and still tasted like chalk poo.
IMPRESSIVE
How many different things done to make sure one is clear for surgery at the Advance Admissions is impressive. I was getting blood taking, x-rayed, ultrasounded, peed, EKGed, and more in such a short period of time which leads to the irritated part.
IRRITATING
Maybe because everything went so smooth and transitioned so fast that this was irritating but when I got to last task of Upper GI I ended up waiting hour and half because they forgot me THREE times! I was ahead of schedule but in the end I was finally taking in hour after appointment. They apologized several times and immediately looked into what happened after I expressed how I felt. Nurse said usually they put blue sticker on paperwork when person arrives. I thought to myself, "That's a full proof system, nothing could go wrong with that!".
Overall good experience and more importantly one step closer to surgery!

I have searched all over forum so I apologize if this has been asked already but should I have my Wife stay overnight with me at Hospital after surgery?
We have twin 8 year old girls that she could stay home with. Will I need her help because I will be awake during night?dreamscometrue reacted to this -
Hello, me name is Ken and I am a 40 year old (sounds like an addiction meeting introduction).
When I was first married 13 years ago my beautiful Wiff was older than me by 2 years. Now, for some odd reason, I have actually become the older one and older than her by 7 years!!!! Strange how this works.
BTW my surgery date is 26 Dec.

Could I be added for gastric bypass on 26 Dec. Thank you for creating list!

oops mine is in 2013. sorry

Mine comes from first letter of My name and my Wiff's name and how longer we will be together "ken n talya forever". It was my idea when we first got married 13 years ago.
My drag/hooker/performer name would be RAMBO PARK.
I always look at people's name and try to figure it so this is cool.

Just received the almighty APPROVAL letter from Insurance today!!!! I read it ten times lol.
Hoping to have surgery done before end of year because insurance deductible is going up 2.5 times MORE in 2014! Plus I have paid all of the out-of-pocket for this year.
QUESTION:
How long does it take to accomplish the Pre-Surgery Tests that includes blood tests, upper GI, and gallbladder ultrasound?

I am so sorry you are going through all this drama. Insurance companies amaze me. This surgery will cost them less over the years by eliminating all the issues from obesity. You would think they would push it through faster!
I went through some issues (not add bad as you) getting approved. First off, the coordinator was out few weeks from a surgery and nothing moved while she was gone. I wanted surgery this year because deductibles are paid already this year and also next year our's is going up alot! When final sent it was denied because of 6 month but I had been to my PCP before and they didn't count it. My coordinator re submitted exact same paperwork and was approved! Ugh.
Good luck and hold you get the golden ticket!
