    Problems with milk?

Yuppers. Exact same thing happened to me. I talked to my nutritionist she said for some individuals who had mild lactose intolerance prior to surgery, the surgery may exacerbate it after. I try to avoid milk now if at all possible. I am still ok with cheese in itty bitty quantities and I can tolerate yogurt, but milk nope- no way. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone

    Easter Dinner- help

Some do, but most don't know about the surgery Sleeveless so I don't really want to call attention to it. I have asked if their is anything I can bring or volunteered to bring a side dish, I was told just to bring some flowers.. Umm ok..So I guess I am going to take itty bitty bites and see how the ham works- thanks busymom and Denise.

how am I supposed to exercise

I became lactose intolerant after surgery. Now Milk and I are no longer bff's. I use Tera's whey with almond milk, and my stomach doesn't hate me.. Good luck though. I started with the walking cd's, and now am using the elliptical and bike at the gym.

    Stall is depressing me :-(

I feel the same way. I am 1 day from being two months out and for the last two weeks (since I have started exercising) i seemed to put the breaks on the weightloss. I completely feel your frustration. I just trying to remind myself (unsuccessfully at points, that it will start up again).

    protein bars

I too am a fan of the quest bar. When I am in the mood for a cheat snack though-but still protein I go for Power Crunch in PB chocolate. But I love that quest has an alternative to using splenda and they use Stevia.

    MAJOR NSV!

My next flight isn't until October, but I am most looking forward to that. I have hated flying for that reason, that incredible squashed feeling tugging with the seatbelt praying it would fit (I was too embarrassed to ask for an extender). CONGRATS!!!

    Itching!

I used to scratch a completely different area sort of near the incision site.. So i could at least scratch something, but not on the site directly. It is healing which is why it is itchy. Good luck though.
  10. Ok, so I will start off by saying I know I am probably being ridiculous, but I joined the gym last week. Have exercised 2 days on 1 day off since then and have not lost a single .01 of a lb. I am still eating my 5 meals a day that my nutritionist recommended so am I doing something wrong,? Or is this one of those wait and see kinda things.

Joining gym = weight not moving?

Thanks all. I think I am going to banish the scale for a couple weeks. I guess I am eating about 800-1000 calories. I haven't really been keeping track of them religiously (but that is a good estimate to where I am at). I am eating healthy things in small portions. I am not cleared for weights so I have been doing 45 minutes of cardio. (elliptical and bike). Grrr.. I think my body is just trying to figure itself out.
  12. ok so i read some one else post and she said her right side was hurting and it was due to some internal stitches... but that really isn't my problem. I hurt when I use my abdominal muscles. I was cleared to start exercising normally, so i thought i would do some pilates --- Wrong!! I started seeing stars. Then I was like ok.. take it easy missy, maybe we will do some crunches also big mistake. It doesn't feel like it is ripping, but it feels like I have never used these muscles EVER and it hurts. The pain is short lived once I stop abusing my abdominal muscles the pain goes away. Is this dare I say normal? will it go away? Anyone experience this.
  13. Wahoo!!! Congrats You really just made my morning, I am sitting here grinning like a doofus. (I hope you did buy yourself some new pants)

    Gluten free protein

I used tera's whey it is gluten free. Not the most Protein out there, but they do offer samples you can buy so you can try it out see if you like them.
  15. I did the research prior going into the surgeons office. I was freaked out with the notion of bypass and the malabsorption issues, so i went with the sleeve. My surgeon said it was up to me ultimately decide and didn't push me one way or the other. With bypass there are many more restrictions, and for some that structure is good. (I too have a sweet tooth problem, but due to a family member I know having a really bad experience after bypass I opted against it). All I can say is just look at both procedures and make the determination that way.
  16. I think my preauthorization was about 2 weeks. I have Empire UHC/BCBS.
  17. I am so very thankful for this forum. It is so comforting knowing I am not alone in this. To hear the vets, and to also hear reassurance that what I am experiencing is not completely uncommon is quite encouraging! Thank you
  18. So, tomorrow i am supposed to actually try food.. you know that thing that you chew and use a fork for.. I am beyond nervous. For the first time probably in my life I am afraid to eat. I fear that I will eat to much, that the sleeve won't work. I will gain weight.. and the list goes on. Is this common? I know I am not consuming enough calories at this point to possibly sustain my body, and I just worry. Any insight would be so appreciated.

    1 week checkup

Congrats!!! I am three weeks out, and I too just noticed that I lost a chin. I kept on looking at myself in the mirror and thinking what is that line around my neck and how come I have never noticed it before, then it dawned on me that there used to be a chin there...

    NOT ADAPTING TO PHASE 2...HELP!

I am three weeks out and I am still not allowed cream of wheat for 4 more days. I was on protein shakes only for the first week after I returned home. (but i do think some people were allowed sugar free pudding or fatfree yogurt).. Anywho, I couldn't even tolerate certain shakes because they were too thick. I can't say I experienced exactly what you did, but I did feel nauseaus after drinking the think ones. I gave up drinking those and only drink one type of protein shake now.

    Post-op hospital stay

I was a two nighter. My insurance originally approved one night, but I had some little problems with my oxygen level so they kept me another day. I was so lucky that they put me on some sort of pain pump. I got to hit the button every ten minutes. So, I was never in pain for very long. I walked my first day but not a whole lot, the second day they had someone from PT come and walk with me. Then I just walked by myself and did some laps while I was there. I was really nauseaus for the first day and pretty dizzy. That wore off by the second day. I was lucky and they gave me a sleeping mask and earplugs when I was there at the hospital, but I would 100% advise you bringing those items. I didn't sleep a whole lot, but without those two items I wouldn't have slept it all. Good Luck!!

I've been chewing the fiber gummies and love them. Probably should chew them more than I have been but I haven't had a problem

    Let's Talk hormones and tears

Thank you! I have been a hormonal roller coaster and ultra sensitive lately. Glad I am not alone.
  25. So this might seem odd but prior to surgery I used to get shots for my allergies. I stopped two weeks before my surgery and have yet to start them again, I figured my body is going through a lot right now why add immunotherapy on top of it. Just wondering if anyone else gets shots and if so when did you go back to getting them and was there any negative reactions because of the WLS?
