    Looking For A Surgeon

I had surgery April 7th in Tijuana. My surgeon was Alejandro Lopez. I have no complaints! I went alone and felt 100% safe the entire time. Great experience! Oh and I booked through specialized Bariatrics, $4200.
  2. I have no problem telling people. My coworkers have been very supportive and a couple are even looking into having the surgery themselves. I'm the world's worst liar, can't ever keep track of what I've said...so honesty is the way to go for me

    Doubts

I am 3 weeks out and have definitely had regrets at times. I'm not one of the lucky ones who can drink liquids easily. I can only take 2 sips at a time, after the third I throw up (happened twice). I've lost 28lbs, which is great but I definitely miss being "normal". I feel good most of the time..unless I have to eat or drink, then not so good. I think this will pass tho, with time. I've never met someone who regretted their decision after losing weight

    Hardest thing for you?

I'm only 3 weeks out so this may change to a food issue later, but so far the hardest part is not being able to drink more than 2 sips of anything at a time. When I'm walking I want to just guzzle (is that a word?) my water or Gatorade..and of course, I can't.

    Popcorn

I've seen on here that popcorn is a slider for people. My paperwork doesn't say anything about it, for or against
  6. I just noticed you said you're a nurse, me too just about to finish my FNP program. Crazy enough to have this surgery during my last semester! Ha
  7. I take Flintstones too. I bought a bunch of gummy vitamins, and they taste so bad they make me nauseated. I switched to Flintstones and had no problem. I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow!

    A little worried

I had surgery on a Monday and went back to work Friday. I'm a nurse so I'm on my feet quite a bit too, but I had no problems. I took it easy and didn't lift anything (or anyone)..for me standing and walking felt more comfortable than sitting anyway.

    Too much liquid?

I can't drink much either, no more than two sips at a time. I struggle to get even a little fluid, can't imagine drinking 64 oz! I think 40 has been my best so far..I'm 2.5 wks out
  10. I was sleeved on April 7th and have had no issues EXCEPT belching. Every time I take even a sip of liquid or eat anything my stomach is bloated and I belch immediately. Often I have to just stop eating and walk around to ease the discomfort. I have searched for others who have the same experience but all I've found is bypass patients. I'm taking Prilosec twice a day, Maalox, gasX and even beano now before every meal. Nothing helps
  11. I had my surgery April 7th, and I still have sooooo much gas. I cannot drink any liquid, even water, without belching several times afterward. Is this normal and when will it end??

    11 days post-op

I take Prilosec 40mg, I'll try it twice today and see if that helps. Thanks!
  13. I was put on a two week pre-op diet..for the first 11 days I had shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then a lean meat and salad for dinner. The last 3 days I could only have Clear Liquids. I had my surgery April 7th, and I'm able to swallow pills just fine.

    What to pack?

Did you use your Protein Powder that soon or were you on Clear liquids following surgery?

Spirit even charges for a carry-on, craziness! I'm going to try to fit everything in my shoulder bag. I was thinking it would be best to roll up my clothes and put in zip lock bags, they won't be wrinkle-free but it will save $$ and the hassle of checking a bag. I'm just taking comfy pants (yoga-ish) and t-shirts. Do we need to take our Vitamins with us? I was thinking meds had to be in a prescription bottle; does anyone know? I have to have zyrtec daily or I break out in hives so I'm going to have to find a way to either get a script for it or buy it when I get there.

I'm flying Spirit too, out of DFW. Anyone else from Texas? What protein powders are y'all using?

I'm with you. My hair is so fine and thin to begin with..this is probably my biggest concern (after fitting in seat for my flight, ha). I need a haircut now, but I'm too afraid to cut it and it all fall out so I'm thinking I'll wait and see what I'm left with.

I fly in on April 6th for surgery with Dr. Lopez too! This is my very first post here..could NOT figure out how to post, ha. I'm so glad to see others going with Dr. Lopez. His name doesn't come up as often as some of the other surgeons, but I've known for months that I wanted to go with him. I am so READY!
