    couldn't sleep

Make sure you have someone look at the "rash". I got a nasty candida skin infection because I didn't know what it was and let it go too long!
  4. I didn't get thrush, but I did get a Candida skin infection. The beast got a little out of control because I had never had one and thought I was allergic to something...

    gel-cap multi vitamin?

Bariatric Advantage has a new MultiVitamin that is a capsule. It had iron in it. I started taking it a couple of weeks ago and I really like it.
  6. Centrum makes an adult formula chewable (orange flavor) that was pretty good and reasonably priced. It is a little hard to find, I first found it at a local private owned pharmacy. Depending on what your surgeon recommends you may need to take some supplements (iron or b vitamins, etc.). My surgeon had a list either take a bariatric vitamin or take a regular multi and these supplements.

    Post-op hospital stay

I stayed 2 nights. I had very little pain, but was nauseous for several hours right after surgery (prob from anesthesia). I took pain meds regularly and never had any problems. I also walked, walked, walked. I was never hungry but was very thirsty. It was a little frustrating because I was so thirsty but couldn't take more than a small sip. I agree take Chapstick, I also took some very loose fitting clothes from home for the second day. The hospital stay itself was great, I had wonderful nurses and aids. The only issue I have with the hospital is that they DO NOT let you rest. Someone is always coming in to do something. I was exhausted when I left the hospital.

    Protein bars

I only eat "Power Crunch!" Love them! Get them at Walmart.

I feel as if I made a bad decision.

Maybe you have a stricture? Has your Dr mentioned it as a possibility?

    Sleep apnea

I don't have sleep apnea, but my husband does. His CPAP machine makes an incredible difference. He says he has never slept that well in his life. We went out of town one weekend and he accidentally left the cord at home. He felt horrible the whole weekend. He uses the full face "dark vadar" type mask. He might not have been too keen to use it in the beginning if I hadn't pestered him so much about it, but it has been wonderful since he got used to it. And I sleep much better now too.
  11. I had one done during surgery and one at 5pm that evening. I had to eat blue dyed ice chips 30cc at 30 minute intervals. It was no big deal.

    Spicy foods?

3.5 weeks out. I've had hot sauce on my refried beans and Siracha on my cottage cheese. No issues yet!

    Day of Surgery!

You will feel so much better now that you are home. Take your pain meds and sleep! I think I slept more the first couple of hours out of the hospital than I did the whole time I was there. Keep up the hard work!
  15. My burping and preburp pain was horrible a first. I dreaded taking a drink and had to force myself to do it. It will get better. I think mine was better after a few days, but I don't remember it was like I just noticed one day I wasn't burping or hurting anymore. I was full prepared for the gas and pain in my chest cavity, but I was not prepared for how much had would actually be in my stomach.

    3 Month vist!

    Wow! Congratulations!
  17. I'm so glad you posted this. I was thinking of posting the same thing. I am 22 days out and on puréed. I can barely eat a few bites. Doesn't matter how slowly I eat or what it is. And even after just a couple of bites it gets a little uncomfortable and I am full the rest of the day or evening.

    PROTEIN....

I am also a fan of Premier Protein. I LOVED it before surgery and I was my go to protein drink. After surgery it was a little thick for me but I found if I put it over ice it thins it out a little. I do have to drink it Slowly!
  19. I had zero bruising and I had 10 days of Lovenox shots starting the morning before surgery!

    Protein bars

Power Crunch are the best protein bars I've found so far and have the fewest carbs. I love them! I live in a fairly small town and the only place in town I can find them is Walmart.

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Glad to hear you are doing so well! It makes me feel more optimistic to hear great positive stories. I was sleeved this morning and I know what you mean about the gnawing pain! They came in to listen to my tummy a little bit ago, and I told her there was a whole lot of action going on in there!

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Gross out alert! --- Surgery tomorrow and I've been on liquids since the 18th. I feel like I'm doing a colonoscopy prep! Did anyone else have problems with the runs while they were on liquids. I wasn't really worried about it before, but now I'm really concerned about being on liquids for 2 weeks after surgery if this is the outcome! Ugh!

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Hi Everyone! I've been creeping on here for a while, and thought I'd finally make an appearance. My surgery is tomorrow morning (Jan 21) so I'm on liquids now. Hasn't been too bad so far, I'm not hungry at all. I haven't told anyone I'm having surgery except for my husband, boss, and a couple of very close friends. I really am not very nervous about tomorrow just ready to get it done. You have all been a huge help getting ready for surgery and through out the process. Thanks so much!
