  1. Congrats!!! Wishing you much success!!! You should put up a countdown ticker!!
  2. My wife just asked me that exact same question...didn't even think about that. So busy thinking about the surgery itself and the after-results, didn't even ponder the thought of what to bring to the hospital. I was told to plan for an overnight stay, and also told that I'll be doing alot of walking around...I'm thinking a loose pair of sweats and slippers, toothbrush/toothpaste, maybe some music if I can't sleep, or something to read. I heard someone mention lip balm is an essential. And I'm wondering if sugar-free mints would be allowed?
  3. I would love to see what they take out of me...not sure why, but I'd love to either see it or a picture of it! Probably just out of pure curiosity!!
  4. I think you may need to start the process over again, since the surgeon is the one who actually does the submission to the insurance company.
  5. Well, I'm still pre-op, and I did love and miss my soda! I asked my surgeon this question, and his response...'I strongly suggest against it!' I think it's supposed to be a bit uncomfortable.
  6. Please keep us posted with all your progress...I'm sure you'll do great!!! Wishing you the very best!!!
  7. Also going in for Sleeve on the 27th...wishing you the very best!
  8. I'll be on the same pre-op diet, starting on the 13th...my surgery date is January 27th. I guess we should be thankful that we weren't put on the all-liquid diet, huh? I've heard several people put on all liquids...I'm sure we'll have plenty of time for that post-op!
  9. Wow...congrats!!! I'm still about 3 weeks pre-op. My surgery date is Jan 27th. Hopefully I'll be as successful as you are...keep up the great work!!!
  10. Congrats and prayers to you as well, fotogrphr!!! You day is coming up soon!!! Wishing you the very best!!
  11. The wait is finally just about over, Amanda...you'll do great, I'm sure!!!
  12. Let 'em have it, ShayLove!!! This is ridiculous!!! I really do hope you get this straight, very soon!!! Please keep us posted!!
  13. Hello All!! I just t happened to stumble across this topic, and glad I did!! I'm 3 weeks pre-op, and can't wait to get this journey started!!! Well, not actually looking forward to the actual surgery part, but looking forward to the losing and essentially getting my life back!! Any good words??
  14. This is kinda cool...we should have like a July 2014 reunion thread, and celebrate where we all are after our first 6 months!!
  15. What are they waiting for, Shay?? This is when you call and nag them until you get results...The squeaky wheel gets the oil, you know?!?
  16. I have been given a date of January 27th, at St. Peter's Hospital in NJ. I requested this hospital since myself and my family are very comfortable there. This is whet all my kids were born, and my wife and I have had stays there. It made perfect sense to have this journey start here as well...I wish the very best to you all!!!
  17. Congrats!!! I recently got my approval, but now just waiting for a surgery date... I'm hoping it's very soon... Looking forward to getting my journey started!!!
  18. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a while back, but for some foolish reason I refused to get the CPAP machine. Even though I told my surgeon about my condition, he ordered a sleep study anyway. I think they may do this just to strengthen your case to get approved for the surgery when they submit you. I believe tha's what happened in my case.
  19. Hmm...Do you have an annaul deductible? It seems the insurance wants to start a new year with a new deductible.
  20. ShayLove, I definitely understand your frustration!! My paperwork was submitted on 11/28, and I didn't get my approval until 12/18!! Meanwhile everyone else I spoke to got approvals within a week!! I was told that the faxes sent were unreadable, they got the paperwork but had not assigned it to a nurse yet, and every other excuse!! I was then told by Aetna that approvals for elective surgeries are not considered 'high priority'! Best bet is to keep calling, and be sure to call BOTH SIDES...meaning the insurance as well as the surgeon, to assure that NOTHING is delaying the process! At least if you can get a status about things, it helps you keep your sanity while you're waiting...please let me know how things go!
  21. Just as Familyguy mentioned, they all aren't the greatest tasting, but they are effective at getting in the protein. They make them in different flavors, and some ARE better than others. If you have a GNC in your area, they usually sell them. I tried each flavor, and rated them...the Orange and the Blueberry I thought were pretty bad, and the rest certainly tolerable!
  22. Exactly...it's NOT a competition. So if anything, you should be able to share your experience with your friend as far as what they should expect. If they are a true friend, this will certainly pass...I wish great success for you both!!
  23. The only way I would know would be to take a couple of those New Whey liquid protein shots...those are about 42g's of protein at a time, and they're less than 4oz. each. I don't suggest it, but that's how it could be done.
