    You look GREAT! ! Did you get sleeve or rny??

    Got the sleeve...now over 2 years out, and still loving it!! Since that photo, I've gained about 15 lbs, but all muscle!!! Still wearing clothing with the same waist size, and trying to do some lifting now.


  2. What up evevryone??? It's been quite awhile since I've checked in, and was wondering how everyone is doing?? Januaray will make 2 years since I've been sleved, and still the only regret I have is I wish I had done it sooner!!! If anyone has any questions or concerns or want to talk about anything at all about the experience, please reach out...I am more than willing to share the experience!!!

    Best to all who are or are about to do this, and go on this journey....it's so very much worther it!!!


  3. One of my weaknesses used to be the Little Debbie Swiss Rolls, and you could buy them in a box of 12. My usual snack was to polish off an entire box in one sitting, usually about 6 minutes!!!

    Another was those icing covered honeybuns that you could buy 2 for $1.00...I would buy 4 at a time for a snack, and have a 2-liter bottle of soda to wash it all down...the funny thing was the soda had to be a DIET soda, since I was trying to cut down!! Yeah, right!!!

    The third was KFC chicken...in order to cut down, I wouldn't eat the skin from the chicken. So instead of eating 8 full pieces, I would eat 14 skinless pieces!!! What a slob I was!!! Now I can barely eat 1 skinless leg or thigh...thank goodness!!!


  4. I have many, but I guess the top 3 would be these -

    • Getting thoroughly depressed when trying to find clothing in my size...finding anything stylish in size 3X is not an easy task!!!
    • Working out at the gym and seeing all the pounds falling off of every family member except me!!! Apparently I must have been eating back everything I worked off!!
    • During my latest doctor's visit, hearing the dreaded term 'DIABETES'...I saw what it did to many of my family members, including losing my mother...didn't want to do that do my family, especially if it's something I have the power to avoid and control!!!


  5. My final straw was being diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure last June. I already knew I was big, but I thought I was a healthy obese individual, but that wasn't the case so that's when I decided its time to get healthy and lose this weight.

    This was the EXACT same reason for me to finally take the plunge and go for the surgery...I saw my family suffering from the effects of high blood pressure and diabetes, and when I was diagnosed with the same, I didn't want to put my family through that, so now thank the Lord that I'm cured of those, and I can live a healthy life!!!


  6. Can I be the first to throw a question or two out there?

    I was sleeved on 1/27/2014, and I reached my goal on 8/20/2014. Since then I've lost a few more pounds, and then I as well as my PCP and my surgeon thought I was a bit too thin. Afterwards, I wanted to gain back some of the muscle mass lost, and I'm currently taking in about 1500 calories a day. I've gained back about 10 pounds, and I'm HOPING that what I've gained is more muscle than fat...when I get on the scale and see the numbers go up instead of down, my initial reaction is to panic!!! Old habits die hard!!! But trying to keep in mind that my clothes are still fitting great!! By chance am I the only one going through this?? I still have a little bit of a belly, but the surgeon says that's not going to go away without cosmetic surgery, so I can live with it!!

    Thoughts??? Comments???

  7. I think that's where I am now...I can have just about anything I want in limited quantity, but I now I don't even want half of the stuff I used to eat. Liking the new me way too much to go back to the old me, so that's what I keep telling myself whenever I do get the urge every now and then. The thing is when you're in maintenance mode, it's a bit hard at first, since you feel a bit lost...even now I can't seem to get away from the frequent weigh-ins, just to make sure I'm still good. The only thing I really deal with is the harder I work out, the hungrier I am...but I imagine that should make sense, right??

    I look at your diary on MFP now and then. I applaud your commitment to track everything and all the exercise you log. I'm amazed at the amount of food you are able to intake. Granted I am only 10 weeks in and no where near goal. I'm sure at some point i will get beyond the small increments I eat at now.

    Believe me, you most certainly will!!! You're doing great so far, please just keep up the good work!! As for me, once I hit goal and was in maintenance mode, I tried to continue to log EVERYTHING, if for no other reason, to keep me honest!! One of the mistakes I made in the past is once I lost a bit of weight, I got complacent, started relaxing, and then started splurging a bit, and then the weight came back!! What you'll find is once you do hit maintenance mode and can eat more, you'll actually NEED to have more, to fuel the body since you have the energy and ability to do more...keeping a detailed log is just my way of assuring that I don't go nuts and go overboard!!!

  8. I like this forum as well!!! I had mentioned this in quite a few other forums and threads, but this is definitely me!! Felt kinda lost once I reached goal, and now I want to assure that I don't go into 'failure mode', and start gaining back!!! So far so good, but want to assure I can continue the success!!! I'm sure I'll also be visiting back quite often, and I already have questions and concerns that I'd like to discuss!!!

  10. I'm thinking it's more gas and thirst than hunger...I personally didn't really feel any true hunger until I was fully healed and started working out. The more I worked out, the more I felt hunger...made sense, according to my nutritionist. Of course you don't want to go overboard, and once you're post-surgery, you pretty much can't really, as long as you follow instructions and directions from your surgeon/nutritionist.

I guess another reason I didn't really go for any food funerals was because my nutritionist assured me that when I get to the point I'm at now, most foods will fall into 1 of 3 categories...either you won't really miss it, you can't really tolerate it (so you won't want it), or you can indeed have it, but you'll only want it in such a limited quantity that it won't do you any harm. So like now, most really sweet stuff falls into the first category, most fried stuff falls into the second category, and I allow for very limited quantities of chocolate, but never enough to throw me off course!!
