    Pop Tarts

Not sure if this is just the 'training' I got from my nutritionist, but whenever I have ANY craving, I always look at the nutritional info section on the box, and get turned off by all the bad contents...that's usually enough to keep me on the straight and narrow these days...made it too far to turn back now!!

    African American Sleevers

Congratulations! You look great!! You should update your progress in your settings, so you can really show off your progress!! Definitely worth showing off!!
  3. This is a very nice and interesting site... Thanks very much for this!!

    Venting.

If you can stand Splenda, you should try the Isopure....comes in a lot of different flavors, and sold at GNC (if you have any GNC stores around you). In the meantime, it really does get better...for real!

    POP

Don't do it...speaking from experience, the pain is certainly not worth the craving!!! I regretted every swallow, and I won't be doing THAT again!!!

    African American Sleevers

From Jersey as well...about 4 months post-op, and doing well!! Believe me...the more you get used to the routine, the easier it all gets!! If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to share whatever I can!!
  7. Carbs was always my concern, but my nutritionist always stressed that as long as go for the good carbs and try to stay away from the empty calories, you should be good...that's what I try to practice now. As far as getting bored, I think my main thing is I get lazy and want something fast and easy. As long as I take the time and effort, they say the possibilities are endless! Wishing you the best success!!
  8. I always thought that we should have some sort of 'exchange forum' for clothing, since we're all going through the same basic deal...I have tons of clothing which are way too big for me, and I'm hoping to lose more so I don't want to invest too much in my 'in-between' size, so we should all try to exchange as we lose!!!

    vitamin overload

I was the exact same way!! What I ended up settling on was the Centrum Chewables (since it's the only one I could find that had all the Vitamins and Iron together), and the Solaray B-Complex chewables. Also for the calcium, I use the Bariatric Advantage Chewable Calcium Squares. As per my research, my nutritionist, and my surgeon, this combinations covers everything. Wish you the best!!!
  10. Hey....another Sleevie Wonder!!! I'm liking this!!!
  11. Oh noooo!!!! My cherie amour, I also want to name my new tummy Sleevie Wonder. Maybe Sir Duke instead? LOL. Sleeven Segal? Or maybe Sleeve Harvey? What about Sleevin' Spielberg? Or perhaps even Sleeve Carell, Emmy-winning former star of The Office (American version). Of course there's also late-night host Sleeven Colbert. Maybe I need to get sleeved first and the answer will come to me. Or I might still call him Sleevie Wonder, because it truly is a wonderful thing. Yes, it's truly quite a wonderful thang!!! LOL!!! You should go with Sleevie Wonder, 'cause obviously you're just as big a fan as I am!!!

When can you use a straw?

I also was told never to use a straw, since a straw will cause you to draw in more air, thus more gas and possible discomfort. I don't bother taking chances, so I don't use them anymore
  13. I was told the only pills that I could take were the time-release pills which shouldn't be crushed...as for my Vitamins, my surgeon wants me to stay with the chewable ones for life. All the other pills I currently take are so small anyway that they probably wouldn't do much damage.

    Sleeve is scheduled!

Hello All!!! Here is the thread I was referring to... http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/181994-the-official-what-you-will-need-for-your-gastric-sleeve-surgery-thread/ There's a great deal of information bout what to bring to the hospital, what you should purchase before the surgery, etc., etc., etc....a lot of really good and useful information!!! Please enjoy!!

    Sleeve is scheduled!

Congrats!!! And don't worry, the day will be here before you know it!! You can use this time to pick up a few things you may need. There's an area in the forum where there's a published list of ideas of things you may need to prepare yourself. Again, congrats, and I wish you the very best!! See you on the Loser's side!!!

    Another box checked

I cancelled my email subscription to Casual Male XL, and for the first time in decades, none of the clothing I'm currently wearing start with the letter 'X' in the size tag!!!

    EASY WAY OUT!

I made a comment on this very subject in another thread...when someone made the comment to me about taking the 'EASY ROUTE', and they told me that I was 'CHEATING"...I told them that I didn't realize there was a 'contest', and the only thing I'm cheating is I'm cheating DEATH!!! Also, there's nothing at all 'EASY' about what we're doing, and it's all being done for the right reasons!!! And from what I am reading from everyone here, trying to stay healthy, improving your situation health-wise and everything sounds about as right as it can get!!!

    When can I resume exercise?

My understanding is you need to wait at least 6 weeks after surgery, but I waited until my 2 month follow-up appointment and got the green light from my surgeon to start hitting the gym again. I have heard of people getting pulled stomach muscles by starting too soon, so again, I would wait for the surgeon to give me the green light before starting anything.

    African American Sleevers

I'm sure you will do great!! As long as you are doing it for the right reasons...and it certainly sounds like you are...then your heart and mind will be into it, and you'll be just as successful as you desire to be!!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

Anyone in Middlesex County? I'm in Sayreville...sleeved on 1/27, and have lost a total of 95 pounds pre and post-op!!

    I got a date

Congrats!!! The date will be here before you know it!!!

    I saw a 2 on my scale!

    Great Job!!! Congrats!!!
  24. I agree with Ginger Snaps on this one...I wouldn't go against your doctor, but I would really like a better explanation. From my understanding as well, although muscle does weigh more than fat, more muscle helps you burn more fat efficiently, it corrects your metabolism, and makes better use of your Protein consumption. I personally couldn't wait to get back to the gym, since losing gave me more energy! Here's wishing you the very best, YummyMummy101!!!
  25. Which of the two are more important to reduce? When looking at so many labels to reduce these, it seems sometimes you have to give up one for the other! So is it more important for us for post-VSG to reduce the fats in your diet or the carbs? Both would be ideal, but which is more important???
