1. Yes all is good. I'm a little worried about my incision sites. They are very sore and one is open. I have to pack it with gauze every day. They told me it needs to heal from the inside out. I am going to try sleeping in my bed for the first time tonight. I've been sleeping in the recliner as it was so much more comfortable. I'll find out Tuesday at my first follow up.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you're watching for infection. Please be careful and let us know how your follow up goes on Tuesday.

  2. I had my 2 week post-op follow up this past Friday and the doc cleared me for 'mushy' foods. I was so excited, but I definitely either overdid it or ate something that didn't agree with me. I think I experienced my first 'dumping' experience last night and I pray to god that's the last. I spent 4 hours with my stomach having fits. I vomited 4 times and had the chills so bad, I thought I had the flu. Finally, I was able to sleep and felt better this morning, but I've learned that I've got to take this really slow.

Aww that sucks. What did you eat? This is all a process. Glad your feeling better. Tomorrow I'm 1 week post op.

Yeah!!!! Is everything going ok? I had some hummus with garlic and then I tried an avocado......it'll be a while before I do those again.

  4. I'm 7 days post op and for the most part doing really well. My only complaint is that I'm so exhausted in the mornings that i can barely function until about 12:00. I don't understand how I can be so tired in the morning after a good night's sleep.

I did start drinking Smart Water as someone suggested I needed the extra electrolytes. I felt better this morning than I have, but now I'm right back where I could take a nap.

I'm down 20 lbs from when I started the pre-op and I'm averaging about 1 lb a day. It's boggling my mind how fast the weight is coming off. Not having any problems at all getting all my meals and Water in, but wish I could fit in more Protein.

  5. Hi May buddies!!! We made to the other side of the losers bench. Congratulations. My surgery was May 5 and I came home yesterday. I still have quite a bit of gas inside, but that's making it's out and I'm pretty sore where the incisions are. My question is....is anyone exhausted? I seem to be able to stay a wake for maybe an hour and then I have to lie down. It's not giving me a whole lotta time to get all my food, Water and Vitamins in. Any suggesstions?

It's so normal to feel tired . Your body has been through a lot of stress and now it is trying to heal. The important thing to remember is that while your body is currently in a starvation mode and as fat burns your are forming a lot of ketones which need to be flushed out with the clear fluids and you need the Protein to heal . So rest up and drink up and your energy levels will return to normal soon!

It's been 5 days and I am finally starting to feel more like myself. It's definitely a slow process, but I'm working it. Hope you are doing well.

  7. I am one more night away from surgery...May 5th. I am in Southern California and I have been pursuing the surgery since 2008. Can't believe I am actually a day away. My insurance and medical group required 32 weeks worth of classes and support groups. It was a 3 hour round trip at least once a week but I made it! I am having the bypass and will be kept for a minimum of 48 hours. I am so thankful for this site and to all of you who share your stories. Thanks to you all! Keep sharing and I hope we can continue to help one another through the ups and downs. God Bless You All...

Good Luck Tomorrow, Angelface. My surgery is tomorrow too. I hope everything goes well for both of us!

  8. Feb 21st banded, recovery time done, thought I was getting it but actually I wasn't.......but this week things have really started to slot into place, I had a rather bad "stick" last weekend but was fortunate enough to have a visit booked on Monday and had a really good chat with my nurse and I had my second band fill, then attended a group session, which was the first for my area. It was great to meet other people and discuss how we we're find things.

I started using a smart phone app called "eat slower" which has really helped with my eating. I also bought a hot plate to help keep my food from going cold as I keep the chew chew chew going. Both things have really helped.

I have just finished a session with my new personal trainer and am actually feeling rather good about myself. In 10 weeks there is a huge difference in my physical appearance and more importantly my metal wellbeing. I feel as though I am really only now starting to embrace my band and understand how I go forward....coz one thing is for sure I don't intend to go backwards.

    Congratulations!!! You are an inspiration.

  9. Good Morning, May Groupies. My surgery is Monday morning at 7:30. I'm very excited. Getting all the last minute stuff done this weekend and 2 more days on the pre-op diet. I've lost 14 lbs so far. Weight loss has slowed these last couple of days, but I'm happy with the 14 lbs. I don't know about you, but I didn't think the pre-op diet was so bad. Mine was 2 weeks of 3-4 Protein Shakes, s/f Jello, broth, s/f popsicles. I mainly stuck with the Protein shakes and the broth. I was surprised at how good I feel with only about 500 calories a day. Only occasionally have I felt really hungry....other times it was just head hunger. I won't lie.....I did a lot of 'mental' work before I started the diet and I think that helped a lot.

I'm anxious to see you on the losers' bench. Good Luck everyone!!!

  10. One week to surgery and I'm getting very excited. I'm down 10 lbs this past week on the pre-op liquid diet and I feel great. It's amazing to me how good you feel with just Protein and the bariatric Vitamins. I

My only concern at this point is my husband. He's realized that he cherishes our meals together more than he thought. He's tried to be very considerate this week and not eat in front of me, even though I've told him it's not necessary. He's so use to thinking about what we were going to eat, that he's having trouble trying to figure out what to eat for himself. He's the cook in our house.....he's much better than I and plus he wouldn't eat much of what I would cook anyway. I think this is a harder adjustment on him than me and I'm concerned.

We will persevere and come out better because of this fantastic journey.

  11. Congratulations on your decision to move forward with WLS. There are a lot of people on this site that can give you support at each phase of your journey.. Personally, I'm scheduled for surgery on May 5. I'm one week into my pre-op liquid diet and down 10.8 pounds. i feel great and am looking forward to everything that is to come.

My advice to you at this point, is to stay focused on your decision to have the surgery and don't pass us up an opportunity to learn as much as you can.

Good Luck to you and keep us posted.

  12. I have not started my pre-op diet yet but I started drinking Protein Shakes to get use to them. I have been drinking them with Almond Milk but the last couple of days I've had horrible stomach pain. Today I went back to using regular milk. Does everyone have this? Do I just need to keep at and let my body get use to it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Try mixing them with Water. I know it doesn't sound as good, but that might help with the tummy issues.

  13. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow... I'm so nervous! I am having second thoughts.. What if I can't handle it, what if I don't lose weight, what if I can't control myself and eat the wrong stuff. I'm so nervous. I think I'm in mourning of the life I have to let go of. I know I'm ready but I'm scared !

I'm feeling the same way. Mostly wondering if I can handle it and stay committed.

Good Luck to you tomorrow. Keep us posted.

  14. I drink premier Protein shake everyday, and even have tried the bars, I like the shakes better, I also like grape frost Isopure, I plan in buying more isopure in prep for my surgery along with sugarfree pop sickles , I already have the chicken flavor unjury on stand by, 14 days and counting now until my May 5 surgery.

Khmer congrats on your surgery I'm glad your doing great with your recovery I can't wait to join you.

Cupcake, when do you start your pre-op?

  15.
Pre-op diet starts on Monday. I've been spending the last 2 days psyching myself up. i'm anxioius about it, but hopeful that I'm prepared enough for all the changes that are going to take place. 15 days and counting!!!

I start Thursday! I wish I started on the weekend instead of on a work day.... Hopefully I'll be so busy that it won't make a difference ( yeah right! Lol) good luck!

Good Luck tomorrow. It's not bad....stay busy! It truly is mind over matter.

  16. Pre-op started yesterday. All is good......not bad at all other than some diarrhea, but hopefully that will subside soon. I'm using Premier Protein shakes at work (3) and then I like the unjury Protein (Chocolate and vanilla are both really good) as my last shake. Filling in with lots of s/f Jello and broth. I can't really say that I've been hungry, but clearly lots of action in the tummy the last 2 days. I hope it continues to be this easy. I think one of the keys is keeping my mind busy and not having time to think about what I'm eating......I mean drinking. :)

Have all the early May surgeries started pre-op diets? I'm curious how it's going for everyone else.

    Have a great day!!!

  17.
Hi May Peeps!!!! I got my date today. I'm having RNY on May 5. I'm so excited/scared all at the same time. I'm glad to finally belong to a group. :)
