  1. I was told to add a lemon wedge to my Water bottle, or you can add the sugar free flavors. I was reading that plain water is one of the hardest things on the stomach that's why people who are dehydrated have such a hard time keeping it down. The flavorings change the enzymes your body produces in response so your stomach can handle it easier.

    Is there anything more depressing...

This is terrifying! I'm 3.5 months post op, only lose the occasional hair but now I'm freaking out! Best start buying me some hats!

    GIRLS ONLY

Naw. Dont worry! Every female worries abiut this stuff and its nice to get a brave post op person to speak up and letbus know what we can expect! Congrats on your big loss! How far out are you? R u working out too? I'm almost 3 months post op. I haven't started working out yet, I've had a lot of problems with fatigue and nausea. Just started being able to get ALL my Vitamins in

    GIRLS ONLY

I'm down 63 lbs and I wouldn't say my hooha is droopy. The outer labia aren't as full, more like they're just skin but they've pulled in too.... I'm not sure I define that as droopy... Haven't had any problems with "sitting on my lady bits" like I read from one person. hmmm... maybe I should take my picture off my profile!!! This may be a little too personal to have connected with my face

    Drinking pop

If I really want soda I usually just snag a sip of hubby's. I kind of hold it in my mouth to get most of the fizzies out then down it goes. I never have more than a couple of sips but every once in a while the change is nice. I'll just over 2 months post op now, been doing that since about 1 month post op.
  6. Every time I eat, not matter what it is, or even drink it makes me terribly uncomfortable. Sometimes it makes me terribly nauseous but most of the time just REALLY uncomfortable, even if I only take one or two tiny bites. I'm 8 weeks post op, does the discomfort ever go away? I know that if I OVER eat or eat too fast it will be uncomfortable, but I don't think I'm doing either of those things....
  7. My surgeon suggested putting a lemon wedge in my Water bottle. It's supposed to make it easier on your stomach, it seems to be helping me. Straight water can make water worse. Good luck. I was where you were, now I'm 7 weeks out and it's not nearly so bad, it's actually bearable now. None of the nausea medicines helped me so I didn't take them.

    boobs

I hate boobs... Let me just put it out there. Mine got so big after kids I had to buy them online so I always just made due with what got mailed to me. Now that the cup is actually starting to fit I'm kind of embarrassed that I was wearing it 50 lbs heavier.... Who would have thought your boobs would get BIGGER Hope you're more comfortable at least!

    Hubby issues

Alright ladies. It seems like the more weight comes off the more uncomfortable hubby and I are with each other. I feel like I'm more vulnerable and paranoid and he's been paranoid since this whole thing started. We just aren't understanding each other well anymore, even though we have long talks most every night. Are there any others of you that are noticing a change in dynamics between you and your significant other? How are you dealing with it?
  10. Alright people, what the heck do you do about joint pain now? Before I'd pop some ibuprofen but that's no longer an option. My joints hurt more now than they did pre-op and I feel like I'm starting to hobble around! Throw that together with being crazy tired I may as well be three times my age!
  11. Hmm... I hadn't thought of that at all. I'll go research if any of my meds are associated with joint pain. Thanks for the thought!
  12. I love my sister to pieces but she has got a big mouth so I don't feel telling her would be good. She would be seriously itching to tell someone. I'm trying to think of something I can possibly tell her if she starts asking questions about my eating habits. Maybe I'll tell her it's a new diet fad I found online or something. The diet being 'the newborn stage' diet. Where you start from the beginning and work your way up. LOVE the newborn diet fad! Lol! You can tell her you've already done the whole pure liquids part. What a kick! Hopefully you'll be feeling pretty darn good at a month out, it seems like quite a few people have no issue! Good luck!
  13. I'm about 6 weeks out from my surgery right now. I am still very tired and having a hard time getting foods in. I can only eat maybe two-three tablespoons of soft food per day. I didn't have a problem with picking up kids. After two weeks they removed my weight restrictions. I personally don't know that I would want someone staying with me that didn't know. Is she someone you would trust to keep the secret? If it's a viable option I would tell her, when she comes.
  14. I slept with a body pillow on each side and would shift from one side to the other. Did it the first day I got home, was doing it in the hospital too... Side sleeping is the only way I can sleep and my nausea would have been even worse if I was on my back! If you can't get on your side with a body pillow tuck it under your thighs/knees when you're on your back to take the pressure off your lower back. Body pillows are my saving grace!

    TMI warning...period question

MIne is all wonky too. I talked to the nurse practitioner that works for my surgeon today actually. She told me that estrogen is stored in fat cells with the fat so as you empty them the estrogen floods our system and can wreak havoc on our cycles. She said if it doesn't become regular again by 6 months out to see a gyn. Until then it's normal.
  16. My doctor wants us off NSAIDS until 3 months out. I'm a little over a month. I'm confused as to why the joint pain now, I'm 5 weeks post-op have lost a total of 47.5 pounds (included my 1 week preop diet) so I should be feeling better not worse. The pain just started up in the last week or so and I didn't have any problems with gas so GAH! I'll try the glucosamine and the arthristis tylenol since I have to take giant prescription Vitamins anyway. Thanks everyone!
  17. I have been sick since having my surgery 11/5. I NEVER feel good. I still can hardly get Water down (I manage about 40 oz a day which doc didn't seem concerned about), taking my Vitamins physically hurts for 30-40 minutes and the only way I can get my Protein down I can still only manage every couple days. I feel nauseous ALL the time and I am exhausted. I'm lucky to get in 40 calories in a day (still on clear liquids). I've tried the nausea meds the doc gave me and they don't make a difference. Has anyone been through something like this? When did it start to go away? Feeling sick all the time is really starting to bum me out big time. I'm starting to freak out that I'll always feel crappy.

    I Smell Since Surgery

I was super stinky post op. It was coming out of my pores EVERYWHERE no matter how many times I showered. I started lathering up with a yummy smelling lotion all over several times a day... It helped, at least I didn't feel like I needed to hurl every time I smelled my arm. It went away after a couple of weeks. Now I'm back to normal. THANK GOD!

    When Does This Get Better?

Thanks for the tips everybody. Hopefully this can get sorted out soon!

    When Does This Get Better?

I told my doctor all about it when I went in last week. He didn't seem concerned at all, he talked about how big my stomach is and how there's swelling and it will go down and so on. He told me to dilute the Protein and use unflavored (it worked for a couple of days but my tastebuds are out of control). The diet for my surgeon is clear liquids through week 4, pureed 5 and 6, soft 7-8 and solids and meat starting week 9. I have a prescription for zofran and reglan and phenergan. None of them work.

How Far Post Op Until Meat?

My surgeon says no meat until week 9. Clear liquids through week 4 pureed 5-6 mushies 7-8 regular plus meats week9
  22. My 2, 5 and 6 year old came in the evening to visit. I was so out of it I barely remember them coming and literally fell asleep during the 5-10 minutes they were there. No one said anything about them not being there. I would recommend your hubby get a sitter for the day of the surgery, the waiting area could be a nightmare for him with a little one!
  23. I wouldn't bring it. I don't know about everyone else but I could barely keep myself awake to take my meds much less poke around on a laptop. I didn't look at any electronics for DAYS post op. I didn't leave my room and bathroom for 2-3 after surgery. Just slept and showered and peed!

    Emotions

It was a hard transition. There have been a few times I'e wanted to cry. Especially because I was so nauseous and I could get anything down. I was fantasizing about being able to eat like I used to and it was so frustrating to know that I will never be able to eat like that again. So many people on here talk about moderation... I know I can eat most anything EVENTUALLY as long as I'm careful but the idea of taking a couple bites of a REALLY good burger just does not satisfy the way thoughts of eating a WHOLE burger does! As you start to feel better and add more things back into your diet I'm sure you'll feel better. I started to feel better just being able to get one Protein shake in... can't do more than that without feeling like crap but I'm losing weight so I'll deal (not that I have much choice now right). Remember you're grieving what life used to be like AND your hormones are going nutso! Good luck!
