Fruit...
I eat fruit all the time. My nutritionist just suggested this week eating fruit for my afternoon snack. I've had bananas, strawberries, cantaloupe, honey dew, watermelon, and apples.

Nectar protein drink
I have the Nectar Fuzzy Navel and of all the protein powders I've tried, this is really the only one I can drink post-op. It has 23 grams of protein for one scoop. I mix mine with half juice & half water.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Hi all, just checking back in. I hit my first major goal yesterday, 100 pounds lost!! I started my journey last April so it took me one year to lose the 100 pounds. I've lost about 58 since surgery on 12-16-13. Went on a major shopping spree this weekend & almost cried in the dressing room when I was able to actually wear "normal" clothes (16) from a "normal" store!!!

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log
HW 322 (March 2013) SW 278 (Dec. 16, 2013) CW 223.2 So close the 100 pounds mark! Ugh! It seems like it's been very hard to get there. Only lost .6 last week so I'm pleased with the 2.2 this week. Oh well, maybe I'll hit the first goal next week.

I'm actually starting to get arm pits! I told my nurse coach this and she laughed! That was a new one on her! I said I've always had fat arms and now there is some definition. Lol!!

Can't stomach protein shakes/powders/Isopure - Need Help
Curios to hear responses because I have the same issue. I try to drink them & gag. I'm three months out and have a very hard time getting in the recommended protein.

What you wished you had known before being sleeved?!?!?
I wish I had realized how quickly I would go through clothes sizes. I've been overweight my entire adult life & worn the same size for years. Therefore, I have A LOT of clothes. Now, I'm dropping sizes about every three to four weeks so it's been very difficult to keep up. I'm having to buy a few things here and there just to make it through the work week. I know, great problem to have!! I just wish I would have started sooner so I would be a little more prepared.

Advice about calories
Oh yeah, I'm only a little over 3 months out! Surgery was 12-16-14.
-
Advice about calories
I too was only eating about 600-700 calories a day but actually only netting about 400 or so with working out. A couple of weeks ago at the support group meeting the nurse suggested I up my calories. It's only been one full week but I went from losing 1.8 pounds to 4.4 this week. I'm now eating about 900 or so a day.

Is it necessary to drink protein shakes?
I eat try to eat high protein foods at every meal. I typically don't get in the 60 grams ( my doc's recommendation) a day but I simply can't do the shakes. After surgery, the taste makes me sick. I would rather not get the correct amount than throw up everyday. I eat baked pork chops, steak, chicken, some lean hamburger. It's worked for me. I've lost 91 pounds since I started this journey and 50 since surgery. Everyone has to do what works for them.

being "perfect"
I also track all my food on MyFitnessPal. It keeps me honest and it's a constant reminder to not over-eat!

being "perfect"
I'm not perfect by any means. I try to do right but I have only gotten in 60 grams of protein ( my doc's recommended amount) ONE day since surgery on 12-16-13. I do eat protein at every meal and try to eat it first. I have never gotten in 64 ounces of water--never! And, I can't stand the protein shakes. But, I have been exercising more since I had surgery. I've lost about 45 pounds since surgery. That's an average of 2-4 pounds a week. I also lost 40 pounds pre-op. I'm satisfied with my results. Down from 322 to 233.8!!
