  1. I have an 8 year old boy and twin girls that are 5. I had my surgery in july 2007 going on 2 years the belly is not gone but is deflated. Control panities hide it okay. Would like to have a Tummy Tuck but not in budget. I was private pay for surgery and just paid it off so that will wait. This is the best thing i have done for myself. Just remeber to talk time for exercise i know it is hard to do with kids but now my kids run with me. It is a family event and I love it.

    good luck all

  2. I guess what I am needing a suggestion for is something that is band friendly. That is where my family dr does not know what to prescribe. effexor comes in a big capsule and keeps getting stuck. I like it and it seems to work well but i can't get it down if i break it awful taste and it will not slide down. thanks

  3. Okay girls, I have not been here in awhile but always rely on you guys for help. I was before the band on effexor (for depression) since i got to my sweet spot about a year ago I took myself off. I know bad but know i need something and my family physician has no clue. My lapband dr. thinks maybe a physic eval before he will prescribe. I am private pay so this could run me up a bill so was wondering if anybody out there has a suggestion. I hope not to need for long if they can fix the female problems i am having, but will need something to keep sane till then, Thanks for any help...

  4. Personally after the post op diet my family and i eat the same thing. I have three small children so before my surgery i made meals up and froze them just to bake and not truly have to cook. I could not have done that on the post op diet I was hungry i think mentally more than anything but would grab out of the freezer heat and they would eat without me blowing the whole diet. Now i just eat what they do but smaller portions

    good luck

  5. Alright girls we all have to admit getting rid of OUR clothes is a very hard thing but look at the things we have accomplished. I have gone from a 24-26 to a 14. I have sold most of my clothes on ebay. They are in my shopping spree goal money. I am taking a trip when i get to goal to do nothing but shop. (I have three small children which make it hard to shop) But I truely love clothes. I have found a local consignment store that i have been buying and trading with. I will buy then take back in later to exchange. Remember don't spend alot on clothes now for they will not last long. I have found many cute things at the consignment store so the money i have sold my clothes for will be to dress for success at goal.

    good luck

  6. I started at 5'4" at 270 lbs wearing a size 24. Now at 160 lbs i can wear 14 loose and 12 tight. You will see if you go shopping you may skip sizes. I was the same way wearing a 18 that i had in my closet went to the store because i was out of sizes. ( I have a friend who had bypass so i had all her clothes and mine) But i went from an 18 to a 14 in one shopping trip.

    good luck

  7. Bethgrove-

I'm glad you are enjoying salmon. I bough the kirkland brand (costco) 'wild alaskan smoked sockeye salmon - 1 lb package) there were 2 different packages there but I do prefer sockeye. If you've never had smoked salmon before there are 2 different kinds 1 is a drier style (i believe it is hot smoked) it looks like normal cooked salmon but has the smoked flavor. The other one is what you might get as an appetizer at a nice restaurant or if you go to a bagel place and get lox (i believe this is cold smoked.) It looks (don't let it scare you) like it is still raw but remains fully cooked and has the same smoked flavor.

I'll be honest I have loved smoked salmon for years but would only eat the drier (hot smoked) kind - because I was put off by the looks of the other kind. This changed this year when I went out and received the cold smoked style as an appetizer and didn't want to hurt the feelings of the person who had ordered it for me - I LOVE IT NOW !!!!!

All I do is open the package and chop up what I am going to use for the dip into medium chunks just to make it easier to pulse into the dip.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the help. We had a football party this weekend and i made it so i would have a nice treat without burning up calories.(like i do at football games). Well i only had a little because so many people liked it will make more this week. It was great thanks for the help with the salmon.

  8. Yes girls i have not been here in awhile. With the kids out for summer at a lose for time. We are back on track and mom has computer time yeah. I have signed up for a 5k run thanks to the inspiration of all you guys so know that the kids are back at school I am hitting the gym hard. Anybody have suggestions for the bat wing arm that are appearing? I t was better at the beginning but the more i lose the more i hate the way things look even with working out but that will have to be fixed with surgery just not sure i want to do the arms. Anyway glad to see everyone still doing great and thanks to all you girls who are here all the time going thru alot of the same things i can glance and get alot of inspiration. thanks girls

  9. As a respiratory therapist who set these up everyday. You need to get one. If you have sleep apnea and are put to sleep while the medication is wearing off the apeneas are worse. So in recovery this may cause a delay in you getting to go home and be more costly in the long run. You are able to rent the machines on a monthly basis. If u have insurance most of the time they will cover it. with the surgery you may not have to pay anything. Depending on your deductible. Just look into they can tell you up front how much it will cost.

    good luck

  10. I have to say this is the best thing I have ever done. I would be lying if I did not tell you it takes alot of work. I can't eat like I use to and have to watch my calories but it has been worth it. I work full time anda have three small children. We eat out alot and I don't have a problem but i must know what i am going to order prior to going otherwise i really make bad choices.(that is just me) one of my favorite website is DWLZ.com it list alot of the restaurants(not the local one but the chains) and helps to plan the meals. I always thought eating salads would help but most of them are worse than a real meal. I have exercised 2-3 times a week and i am happy with my decision. Hope all goes well for you. It is a decision only you can make it is not for everyone but it is a WONDERFUL tool

  11. I think that is awesome. If you can't wear it by christmas you will have something to aim for. I had a closet full of clothes before my surgery and i have made it to the point I need to purchase. My husband bought me a dress for or ten year anniversary trip to hawaii i was so down because i could not fit in it but by the time it was time for the trip i could wear it comfortably. Just hang in the front of you closet for a daily reminder. GOOD LUCK

  12. I have twins who are 4 and a 7 year old. I had mine done in july 2007. My girls (the twins) were three, they were no trouble but my six year old did not like the idea of mom having to be careful. I was back to work on tuesday after my surgery on friday. Not suppose to but I am a respiratory therapist and do home care not many of us that do and no one to cover. I took half the load of patients for the first week but was good to go after that. I did not carry the kids for three weeks. I kinda wastrying to get them to do things on their own and milked my surgery alittle. Probably could have done before that but did not want to damage as i was private pay.

good luck it has been well worth it

  13. Hi! Just jumping in quick to let you all know that we got back in the USA last night. I'm giving myself till Friday to weigh-in since that's my usual weigh-in day. I'm afraid that all that "inclusive" food and drink were too great a temptation, but the band did limit how much I could eat. I am sure that if I gained, it was not nearly as much as it was other times, which is a plus. Today was all about getting myself back to "normal." I also have to tell you that going to Mexico was much more fun as a 12-14 than it ever was as a 22-24! I wore a bathing suit and found out that I can't swim anymore (after 30 years of just sitting there watching). I went to the spa and had a facial which I never considered doing before. I "dressed up" and felt like a woman, not a spectacle. I had energy to walk and walk without feeling winded or worn out. It was wonderful!!!

OK, I'm sorry I can't go back to p. 682 and catch up yet, but I have 12 voice mail messages at home, 100's of emails on my work account, and I haven't even checked my voice mail at work yet. Hopefully by Friday I will be caught up. I can't wait to see how you all did without me!

    Love you,

If you don't mind me asking which resort did you go to and have you been to more than one. My husband and I are cruiser but are looking into the all inclusive and not sure which one to go with or any idea what we want. We have been on alot of cruises but everybody talks about the relaxing at the allinclusive ao we want to try it.

    thanks
