I am holding out until after surgery if then weight loss isn't enough. How was the recovery for that?
It was fine. Just really sore. I was off for two weeks but felt better after one. They took seven pounds out total. Scars are underneath breast and armpits. Reshaped nipples. Lost feeling in one for about six months.

Looking great! Congrats. Are you still planning on following your diet to ensure that old habits don't creep back or are you going to eat anything just in moderation along with hitting the gym?

Did anyone have a breast reduction BEFORE surgery? Did they girls stay put? I had a breast reduction in 2004 and they removed seven pounds. I love my size now and hope they don't change too much.

I told my doc that I'd like to return to work after five days. He told me that returning to work and driving are a case by case thing. That there is no required amount of days I'd have to sit out as long as I was not too fatigued to stay on my drinking schedule. His main concern is preventing dehydration. ( Sleeving on Dec 18th)

I was told no to gummies due to added sugars. Ironically, however, I am told that I will be able to take whole capsules after I am sleeved on the 18th of this month.

Thank you so much for your input. I do my psych eval and nutrition on the same day, so it's going to be a big day and I'm nervous!!
My insurance did not require a nutrition but I was so scared about the psych. Good Luck!!!!!

I was scared when I had mine, but did ok. They even rated me on stuff I didn't expect. Like showing up on time, IQ and my appearance. I then spoke to the lady for about forty five minutes and then took a series of written test for about two hours afterwards. ( Some of it was hard at the end.... I wish I would have studied a little on the vocab part.) I believe if you answer the questions in a manner that alerts the doctor to things like severe depression, suicidal thoughts or you not being able to handle this major event...they may recommend other treatment before they give you a passing score for bariatric surgery. So I would not exactly call it "failing" more than you may just need more time/treatment to prepare for this life change. Also... she wrote down everything I said word for word!!!! I know this because I asked for a copy when it was completed a week later. (A copy that I had to go get in person with a photo ID and sign for)

When I was a normal BMI, I was really young and didn't care about appearance. I was a tomboy who wanted to dress just like my brother. When I finally cared about a more feminine appearance, I was too fat to wear the things I really wanted from regular size stores. I made due with makeup, shoes, and handbags, but it got old after a while. When I was actually fit enough to do anything physical, I was not concerned. Now that I am aware of potential health risk that will eventually catch up with me, I am 323 pounds with low energy! I can wait for the days where I can be able to run in a marathon and then put on something fabulous in the same day!

I can somewhat relate. My husband is not feeling my surgery either. He feels that it is "just something that I want to do" and that it is not needed. (Despite my BMI being at 50.6!). I eventually told him that this is what i'm doing and if he is not going to support me at least don't say anything negative. I am hoping that everything goes well and he jumps on the band wagon next year as his own BMI is in the high 40's.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't referring to my pre op diet. To clarify, I meant my pre operative appointment done a few weeks before surgery.(test and bloodwork). I'll email the doc and refer back to my packet. Thanks y'all.

Preach! What good is a membership if the site is inclusive to any and everyone?
-
Are there settings that I can put in place to allow my information/pics/post only be viewed my members and not just by anyone on the internet?

December 18th in the house!!! Only required two do Clear Liquids pre surgery with an option to do more days. I may do 7 or 10. Scared out my mind!!!! Hoping to inspire my overweight hubby to do it too, but he is NOT amused!

1. Can I brush my teeth the day of surgery? My book says no mints or gum. So I'm lost.
2. Do I need to fast for my pre ops?
Thanks y'all!

December 18th here! Required to do Clear Liquids for two days pre surgery with the option of doing it for two weeks. I set a goal to do it for at least ten days.
-
Hahahaha thanks. I have my dr. Appt on Tuesday. Cant wait.
-
I finally got my approval yesterday. Took roughly six days for bcbsil. My bmi is 50. Pre diabetes and hypertension.
-
My coordinator told me not to call my ins (bcbsil) because it may cause them to push my packet to the back. I'm dying over here waiting. Lol
-
Congrats!!! How long did it take? I'm on pins and needles waiting for a reply.
Anyone getting sleeved next week ?
