  1. I don't know the size. I feel the same way as you, not a lot of restriction but losing weight and eating a lot less. Never had reflux or vomiting and I can eat everything. Well the X-Ray showed reflux but I never felt I was having it. I think I'm still eating too fast because by the time I realize I'm hungry, I'm way too hungry. Also my Diabetes has gone from high sugars to low sugars so I have to drink O.J. when I'm not hungry to get it higher.

  2. Had my first fill yesterday 1.2 cc. Done in the X-Ray room, I had to lay on the table, bend my legs and push my stomach out. The Dr. asked if I want 1 stick or 2. The first would be local anesthetic. I figured why get two and went for the one. I didn't really feel much at all. They left the syringe in the port and lifted the table so I was now standing up. Here came the worse part for me. I had to drink that bitter stuff 3 times under X-Ray. He already put in 2 cc, but saw some reflux so took it down to 1.2 cc. It took all of 20 minutes. Good luck and don't be nervous it really wasn't that bad.

  3. That sounds great. Get my first fill on 2/23/09. Only problem is irregularity. Down 33 lbs. since 1/02/09. Some days I have a crazy appettite and others not much at all. Not to get too graphic but I took a laxitive and after finally having a decent BM, I was down 3 lbs. so I will address this with the Dr. on Monday. I can eat everything so far, but much less than I was able too before. Hope I can start the gym next week. Because of a severe back injury I will have to start out in the pool and hopefully move on to walking and weights. Keep posting and good luck.

  4. Me too!! Banded on 01/15 and lost 30 lbs. since pre-op diet started on 01/02. Started some soft foods on 01/29 and have not lost since. I get a fill in about 4 weeks. Doing about 1000 calories a day, but can't exercise much because of a severe back injury. I called the Dietician and was told the weight loss so far I have done on my own. When I get the fill then the Lapband will do its job. Thanks for the post as I was wondering about the same situation.

  5. Hang in there. I had a two week pre-op liquid diet and I am disabled and home all day. It was very difficult, but I kept on thinking I will make the surgery easier. I was banded on 1/15/09, and my surgeon was very pleased saying my liver had shrunk considerably. I had zero complications and even went home 7 hours after surgery. I had pain the first two days post-op. I am still on the liquid diet until this Friday. So far I had two bad days where I was really hungry, but I wasn't going to cause complications now. It really is a mental challenge which you will realize after your banding. Try sugar free Jello, at ten calories you can fill up on them. Don't complicate things and get tuff mentally. I have lost 27 lbs. since I started my liquid diet on 1/02/09. Hope this helps.

  6. I feel blessed having such a smooth recovery. I do feel weak and take a walk inside the house 4x a day. I hope you are not getting dehydrated. Don't push yourself physically. Get some help if you can. They put me on Previcid when I was discharged and I have had zero nausea and vomiting. I do still have very loose bowels about 4x a day. Don't hesitate to call your Doctor. I will say a prayer and I hope you feel better.

  7. I was banded on 1/15 and found that my brain has been programmed to eat. Brain said eat, but stomach said full. I don't know if they filled the band any. Sf ice pops are a great suggestion. Try to really notice if it is hunger or how we have programmed ourselves. I see a burger commercial and I want to eat it up, but when I think about really eating it I know I can't. I am actually worried I am not getting enough calories, I'm at about 500 a day. I must have gotten lucky and the band is perfect. I think eventually everyone gets to this point with the fills. I find flavored water being sipped all day keeps the hunger away too. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

  8. Hi fellow Bandsters and Bandsters to be. I've gone liquid, today is day five and it's not too bad with calls from the family checking up and cheering on. Nine more days til I get banded. I feel a little weak and forgetful and hungry. I'm surprised at the 60 calorie applesauce and puddings, they do take away the hunger pains. I need to eat two of them at once. Instead of Slimfast, I am on a whey protien drink which with Water is only 100 calories, a lot less calories. I like the taste but not the smell so I don't breathe in through my nose when I drink. Three a day gives me my needed protien. The 100 calorie yogurts are good, but I also need to eat two. I'm so proud of my cousin who had the bypass mid November and has lost 50lbs. I can't let her go to the beach alone now can I? If anyone can add to this it would be greatly appreciated, much love and success to all, Tim

  9. I'm on my 3rd day pre-op diet. The first night I was so hungry i woke about every hour. Now it seems I've settled in and should be good to go on 1/15. The support is great here and has helped me through the process. I suffer from chronic back pain so I am never busy, but I can always stop by here when I get too hungry and look at all the people trying so hard and losing so much. Here's wishing you to look fine, in '09!!!!

    Hello All

This is my second post and I am scheduled to be banded on January 8th. So I am in the middle of my pre surgery diet. I want to say that it is so wonderful to have a community to support this process. ALthough nothing takes the place of my support system here at home. They are all so wonderful.

What poeple have shared here has been so very helpful. It was nice to see that others are so hungry! I am starving but commited and know this all will pass. But heck this is hard! It should be

I wish everyone strength to get through this and if you need help its nice to know we are all just a click away.

    All the best

  10. I'm scheduled for the 15th. I also have started pre-op diet. My father has been ill and in and out of the hospital the last month. I know I need this done, but with such a distraction I am looking for some support. I also have a cold and I am trying to stay positive. No matter what happens I need this surgery and need it now. Let me feel your energy people and thanks for a place to vent.

  11. Wow, she is really sick. She sounds like my sister in-law. We had to cut all ties with her, she just tried to make everyone miserable. We are grown people and do not have to be treated that way. You must refuse to be treated like that as you better yourself. I am not having this surgery just to lose weight, but hopefully to live longer and have a higher quality of life. I won't stand for any emotional bullying. I'll kick ass and take names because I'm fighting for my life. You deserve credit for taking the bold step of getting the help you need. That is strength not weakness. Best of luck in your physical and emotional struggle.
