What a great idea, I am going to do that before I my surgery. Then I don't have worry about it. Thanks

I have not been banded yet but my doctor has giving me a complete list already. for weeks 1&2 I can have Diluted fruit juices, yogart drinks milk vegetable juice-hot Cereal made runny-broth and creams Soups strained to remove chuncks-protein drinks (not high in carb or sugar providing at least 15 grs of Protein per servin) SF jellow, popsicles, pudding, dairy yougurt, good choices are Dannon Light and fit and carb countdown brands.
This is right of my paper work I have been given. Hope this helps. It also says thickness ranging from that apple juice to that of cream Soup. Sould be body temperature and would pass through a straw, but should not use a straw to consume.

Yea I have read everywhere to avoid vomiting at all cost!

Tracy your welcome, I don't see why a rider wouldn't work. My girlfriend had to do that for the ortho for her daughter. By the way you look great I can't wait to get banded.

Really that is the best bet. Just to call and ask them. Even if your ins is cigna it still varies for plan to plan because mine states it could be 2/3 mths with in a year of each other and it seems most say 6 mths. I did the 6 mths myself.
Tracy I haven't heard anyone using a rider for lapband but I have only been looking into this for the past yr. I am not a pro like some of these people. But i haven't read or come across anything like that.

Hi Sorry to hear your feeling bad! I was just wondering what hydrocodone? Is that pain meds? I was just wondering never heard of it before. What you are going through is what I am most worried about. I have never had any kind of surgery so I have no idea of what my pain talorents is going to be. Hope you feel better

I have one last step! MY phyic evaluation: I have that turesday. She works hand in hand with my Dr. So that will be it and he will turn everything in. He said it take about two weeks to get approve and then a week from that I should be banded.:wink2: Hopefully it is just two weeks. Wish me luck

I did check and it can be 2 3 months with in a year

what are you afraid of? The procedure? I don't know if this will help you, but I have never had any kind of anything done to me. No broken bones no surgeries. In fact the only time I have been in the hospital is One over night stay for the birth of my son and to visit other people LOL I am so convinced this is soooo safe that I am not scared in the least. My Dr told me the worst thing that he has happen is three of people had infection around the port area and they just go in and move it to a different location. For me the positive far out way the negative. Ultimately you have to do what is best for you. I would not even consider bypass the risk were to high for me but many people have had it done...it's not for me though. This on the other hand I can do. My biggest worry is, if I will be in alot of pain after wards. Do more research, talk to more people, people who have had it done, talk to your doctors. I did so much research and have read through these forums and my PCP Dr, one of her nurses had bypass I talked to her about it even though it was bypass. I hope this helps. I haven't been approved yet so my help and advise can only so far.

Yes, I did get a PM about kids being able to access this site, yada yada yada. That is what parental controls are for. This is a place were you may see a boobie or two. LOL You look great! I hope my belly looks nice like yours when I get banded but I think I will be Posting pics of a TT.:faint:

I have cigna and they covered all my visit to my PCP for my diet. It was a co pay just like any other time i went to see her. However they would not cover the nutritionist. So I am not sure why they wouldn't cover yours. I don't know personally about the Jenny Craig but the paper I got from St. Agnes says they will use Jenny Craig, LA weight loss, but it needs to be 6 mths or 2 3 mths consecutive not skipping. But like I said I didn't go that way.
-
futurejd, I won't swear to it, but I am pretty sure I read in my insurance info (cigna) it has to be a supervised diet of 6 mth, or two three months with in a year. So if that is the case and your Dr keep record of your weight you shold be ok. When I went to the seminar (first thing I did). The sergion had a paper for our Dr to fill out every month. We just had to copy 6 of them. I just has the date and place for weight and my Dr made notes on my progress. So If he has something like that I would guess your good to go on the diet part.
-
Thats kind of funny, because I am worried I haven't lost enough weight and they are going to deny me. I don't know If they will count your diet without it being supervised, because that is were the supervised comes in. I have cigna and from what I hear they are very picky. I don't know about bcbs. But to me if they are say a supervised diet that is what they what. One were the dr is weighing you and check what you are eatting taking notes on how you are doing.
-
I am having the same problems. I am wondering if I don't loose any weight on my 6 mths diet that I am failing at, will my ins turn me away?
-
Congrat to You!

I am not having trouble finding a diet. I am using W.W. In the past I could stick to it. But my point is I am having a hard time sticking with it. Knowing that I am getting the band put on. I go in to see my Dr. every week. So it is supervised. I am just dealing with a mental hang up. I don't know.
-
I am having a hard time sticking with it. I have had more success on diets before I even thought about the lap band. Now I almost feel like I don't want to be on it because I know in the next few months (hopefully) I will be on that road. My exersicing is good. My husband and I are in a gym. The owner fixed us up on a 5 day cardio and 3 day weights and some floor exercise. I am sticking to that good. But the diet is killing me. Is anyone else dealing with this.

:whoo::clap2: Waahooo! Good for you Fred! I am so happy for you! How exciting! I have an appointment with my sergion Friday. Just to go over every thing. I will keep you in my prayers that all goes smoothly. I am glad you had no set backs with cigna!
Good Luck!

Hi all, I know with cigna you DONT have to use the nutrtionist diet. You do however have to be evaluated by a nurtionist. Which I had. I am using w.w watcher program but seeing my pcp dr. But my sergeon made it easy, because in our folder he handed out at the seminar (which is another thing I had to do, but I think that was required by my surgion not cigna and I am very thankful for that. To anybody who hasn't gone, GO). Anyway he had a paper with all info to be filled out (lbs, date, ect) it has to be filled out by my pcp. She made six copies and fills one each time I am there.
ecgilb235 that is a good tip, thanks. I didn't not know that. I think I happen to be lucky I will double check with my dr. next time. I would rather wait a go an extra month then to turn it in to find out I was a few days off.
Big fred how is it going with you? Are you doing the waiting game now?
To everyone I know it seems overwhelming and we all want it done yesterday, but keep a positive out look and just keep your chins up (LOL I didn't mean it like that).
I am going into four mths and I am will to do the 6 mths part it will be the wait for ins response that will be killing me. So I am sure I will be coming back here cry and caring on, needing ya'll to tell me to practice what I preach! Take Care;)
-
Good Luck Fred. I hope it is a positive quick response. I just found out I have to start my six month over.
-
there is no expectations as far as weight goes. What they really are wanting to do is to weed out the people who are looking for a quick fix. Someone who is will to stick to a diet for six months isn't looking for the quick fix.
Oprah needs a lapband....

I missed the show..darn it.. but I have seen shows were she has people on were had bypass. She seemed very supportive of them. One person I remember is a very short woman who had bypass and Opera really seemed to love and support her. Maybe she doesn't like the whole kid thing. Everyone feels differnt about everything. Even on this board depending on what Dr. banded you depends on how long your on liquids and what you can and can't eat. And I am a big Opera fan but I don't always watch her because she has certain shows that I don't agree with so I don't watch. To each his own I say
