Very Concerned about protein tolerance
Scorpion11 replied to Christa Deterding's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Crista, I had the same symptoms you described when I was on the Lindora diet, I got so suck I went to see my pcp and she asked me to stop doing the Lindora diet I had been on for 9 months. When my lab and urine came back, my ketosis was too high. I felt all you mentioned, and end up with a viral infection. Sounds like my immune systems was too weak or what the doctor told me. I stopped the diet until I felt strong and healthy again. Later I stopped Lindora completely bcuz I still kept getting the clamy, sweaty, sudden anxiety feelings at any given time. Mind you I'm a diabetic but when I works check my glucose it was at good level. Are you a diabetic or hypoglycemic? Or could be maybe your blood pressure may be too low. They symptom you described is how I feel when my sugar us low or blood pressure. I would highly suggest to call your pcp doctor to do lab work and check everything from your epilepsy meds, to thyroid, glucose etc... I too wonder if this WLS and my heart data yes, I worry too if I will do fine later and what if these symptoms continue. You're not alone, keep us posted. What stands out to me is that your WLS doesn't have you on a pre-op diet and also that you're still eating and having unknown symptoms, but what's causing them even while you've eaten. -
A few protein reviews
Scorpion11 replied to roundisashape's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Today is my 2bd day on pre-op liquid diet. It's much harder than I thought. My WLS is 11/15. I don't know if I can do it feeling is on today. However I'm liking all your post and variety if different Protein drinks. I went with what my doctors office had listed which was the world wide 35 protein ready to drink 11oz cans and taste good, but costly. $2.75 each can, so only bought 1wks worth and will have to go shopping during week for some of the ones listed here. Thank you everyone. Keep up the great success and posts. We pre-ops look up to y'all -
Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing. Today is my 2nd day pre-op liquid diet. I'm feeling like it's too hard to do for 2wks. My WLS is 11/15. I'm so glad I read your post. I went to trader joes yesterday to buy the world wide that had 35 protien gram for 11oz cans and each one was $2.75. I need 2 a day. I would rather buy a protien powered such as the ones you've mentioned. I will have to go to the GNC store. Thank you very much.

Coping with whey protein drink intolerance
Scorpion11 replied to HR Pro's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hi Micelle, I'm hoping the post-ops on here can answer your inquires!! I'm fairly new on here too. I'm pre-op for the sleeve, surgery date 11/15, I just started my liquid yesterday it's not easy, but I'm staying positive I can get through these 2 wks. Heaviest weight 267 current weight 263 Goal weight with sleveebus 165-170 I'm 5'6 Today I'm 46, tmrw 47 bday is 11/4, so I'm considering this WLS a new re-birth I can totally relate with the dieting in your past I did the Lindora diet for 9 months. I lost about 45lbs, went from bmi of 41 to 35. Later to gain all back plus 15 more. I didn't get sick on the shakes but did get really sick into my 9th month and my pcp asked me to stop my Lindora diet, my ketosis was too high. Thereafter I felt sick, got some sort of viral infection, then I suddenly started to get anxiety/panic attacks, clamy sweaty episodes. To this day I still do. Went to see a new Endricologist and she found my Vitamin d was too low and put me on 50,000 ml Vitamins 1x week for a month Also found Protein in my urine and put me ramrpril meds. New Endricologist is not for my WLS but my pcp and previous Endricologist are. I'm a diabetic, highblood pressure, have high cholestral, which I inherited from my maternal dude id family. I also have 4 bulging disc from a fall and still recovering from a knee arthroscopy , I'm not physically active as I would love to be Due to all these conditions I'm having the WLS. I'm tired if taking all these meds and pry sung my diabetes goes away. When I went to see the WLS doctor the 1st time, was 4 yrs ago at that time was for the gastric bypass, I walked out feeling I didn't need this surgery and could donut all on my own, well Lindora works for 9 months and so in July u decided to go back for another consultation but for the . To my surprise the doctor suggested the sleeve bcuz it helps diabetics and ends up going away after the surgery if they stick to the plan and work out. That is my goal, to lose weight to become healthy again and get rid of diabetes and high blood pressure mainly and all meds. All you are feeling is the very same I am, and from reading up on here everyone too. I've read more positive and very few negative. You will know in your heart if you're ready for this WLS or not. Go with your intuition. Only you truly know if it's right for you or not. Daily I still ask myself if I'm doubt the right thing, get nervous and start to think, what if this or that, when I start to feel that way, I log on here and read up, and sure enough I'm back on track and realize again I'm making the right decision This site is by far the best one I've encountered and everyone is very nice and supportive. Best wishes! N -

Congrats to all of you on your WLS!!! Good to read such positive results and being so upbeat and optimistic to return to work so soon I'm pre-op start diet 11/1 and surgery 11/15 You're all an inspiration and helps me being pre-op get through these nerves taking over me. I just made my Appt's required before surgery lab, EKG etc. I got so nervous as i type I'm trying to overcome a panic attack. I took a Xanax since I suffer from anxiety and logged on here to get my head cleared up and on track again. I'm feeling scared and questioning myself if can do it, then freak out thinking what if I come out if surgery and have panic/anxiety attacks everyday. I'm asking myself if these nerves are a sign not to do it. I'm scared because I'm a diabetic and keep think will my little stomach balance glucose/sugar after surgery Did you all go through this too?? -

Scorpion11 replied to clefofcividale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats to you all you!!! Very helpful post! It's good to learn all you're posting for us pre-op's. I'm schedule for 11/15/13, starting diet 11/1 I have several inquiries Anyone a diabetic type 2? High blood pressure? Are you off all meds after your WLS? Are you you able to sleep in your side after surgery? Do they strap you down on the surgery table! I don't like feeling of being pindown or strapped for anything. Freaks me out I suffer from anxiety/panic attacks, do they give Meds before surgery to help calm nerves down? -
Anxious...Scared...Nervous...Excited
Scorpion11 replied to Nurse_B's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right with you, just confirmed my surgery date on Friday, my surgery day is Friday, 11/15 Yesterday I was an emotional wreck from excited, happy butterflies to tears. Today I'm feeling better, when I get the questionable feeling or thoughts coming back, I log in read new post and I feel I'm doing to right thing for the right reason. All along all the appointments and clearance I felt prepared as I have been doing loa of research. Joining this site more than helped with all the same questions you are feeling. My thought process is there's no price tag amount to gaining a healer lifestyle for the rest of your life! Yesterday I posted for ppl to share if they had any regrets with their WLS and why and everyone's responses are no regrets. Many ppl who have had their surgery state they wish they had done it sooner. I still have all the same feeling you do and get scared but I know without doing this WLS I will not lose weight and bee this tool to keep me on track and continue to use it for the rest of my life! Your feelings are normal, as I mentioned I haven't had it but I'm sure it's worth every penny!! I will have to pay about $1500.00 of my pockets and not once have I thought it could be used towards something else, nothing materialistic compares to regaining my life and being healthy again. When you feel in doubt, come back here, read up and it puts us back on track : ) -
Sleeve on june 3...feeling fatigue, pale skin, no energy...
Scorpion11 replied to wpierce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WPierce, congrats on you WLS!! I'm sorry to hear you're not felling well. I agree with Camelia getting more test/lab done would be a great idea. Have you informed your WLS doctor? What was his advise or suggestion? I'm not an expert on health, but have had many lab work done for many symptoms and health issues I've dealt with and also I'm a diabetic type 2. Your description reminded me of and sounds like how I felt when I had my son, had a bit of complication and lost lots of blood I almost needed a blood transfusion but they hooked me up to an Iron iv and that helped. I became anemic My son is now 22, but to this day when Aunt Flow arrives I get all tired. weak, sleep, fatigue and just want to sleep. I take extra iron when I'm feeling too tired or add more food with iron to my meals. Also get dark circles under my eyes. I've found a great concealer I order extra ones so I never run out Pls make sure the doctor checks your iron, thyroid as well. If you're taking any meds read the side effects. Many meds do cause many symptoms you mentioned. From reading others post, ensuring to eat Proteins helps energy levels. BTW I'm pre-op scheduled for surgery 11/15/13 I start my diet 11/1. So I'm hoping some of the post-op experience sleveers reply to your post and can help shed some positive light. Please keep me posted, sending positive, healthy healing energy and thoughts your way! Take good care if yourself and listen to your body, rest if you need to rest. ???? -
Quenae, thank you!!! I agree!! I'm just nervous over thinking!! : ) I will reach out to my pcp to ensure my diet is accurate for me. Sending ))))positive energy(((( your way. No cheating : )

Scorpion11 replied to LeahJade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to you and everyone on your WLS!!! By far very interesting moodiest and hilarious post. Had me intrigued!! ???????????????? great sense of humors!!! To answer your question, only my husband and 2 son's know. I haven't shared with anyone and when I asked my boss for time off, I sent her an email requesting 3 to 4 weeks off for medical attention. She responded back stating, I was approved and well wishes. I'm not in the mental phase of thinking or worrying about what ppl will see, think or ask. I will determine that decision when it's presented. My life and health and family are my priority Just confirmed surgery date yesterday, it will be on 11/15/13. My emotions are out of control today, and glad I came I came across your post Thank you everyone!! : ) -
I just confirmed my surgery for 11/15/13 I'm suddenly nervous. I'm type 2 diabetic and wondering if my liquid diet (start 11/1) is going to help my sugar levels stay normal. It's good to hear the truth and what works and what doesn't and ideas to keep diet going. Thank you for sharing.

I've read all but positive information about WLS in Mexico. Mines will be in Burbank, CA Search your doctor and hospital and you will find all the info posted. I think you will feel much better and comfortable. I've done my research and felt good and ready. However yesterday I confirmed my surgery on 11/15/13 and today I feel my emotions out of control. Happy, excited, butterflies to suddenly crying. I don't know why the crying and blaming the pmsing. From all I've researched feeling scared is normal. Best wishes and luck to us all. -
Hi everyone!!! I've been reading this awesome site!! Learned lots and grateful to be able to hear and belong to this forum for support and advise. I just got scheduled for my surgery Friday, 11/15 at 8:30am. Female age 46, bday is 11/4 Current weight 266 Goal weight 170 Height 5'7 size 18/20 I'm diabetic type 2, take metaformin 500 x2, have high blood pressure take 25 mg daily, have 4 lumbar bulging disc and recovering from knee arthroscopy take 800mg as needed for pain, so not able to be physically active as I would love to be. My pcp, orthopedic and older Endricologist are 100% supportive with me and for my surgery. I'm seeing a new Endricologist for 2nd opinion because I'm experiencing weird symptom randomly such as anxiety, panic attacks, sudden heart palpitation, feeling like I can't swallow. She did lots of lab work. She found I'm low in Vitamin D and prescribed 10,0000 mg x4 a month and also found Protein in my urine and prescribed rampril take daily She said it's not my not diabetes causing these new symptoms but need to go back and see her with new lab next week after being on vitaminD and RAMIPRIL for 1 month And will check my thyroid again all lab work look good expect the glucose and bad cholesterol which I'm hoping not to have to start meds for. When i asked her for her opinion on the WLS she was appalled and no why would I want to when we are trying to find out what going in with you She's the only the only one that's not for my WLS which throws me off if my 1st Endricologist is. I'd think she would say yes and look at it as I would get healthier to loose weight and reverse diabetes and get off all meds. I start my liquid diet next on 11/1 3 days before my bday. I wasn't expecting my approval so quick and surgery to be scheduled in December, so I won't be having cake for by 47th bday, instead celebrating the beginning of a new healthier and positive life! My emotions are out of control. I'm excited yet I'm feeling a scared. I get nervous come hear and read up and helps calm me down and sets me back on track that I'm doing the right thing Best wishes and luck to all of us!
