  1. I decided on the sleeve because I do not want the malabsorption that accompanies bypass nor do I want dumping syndrome. With bypass your pouch is approximately 1oz while the sleeve leaves you with about 3 oz. I do not think 1oz stomach allows for enough nutrients personally. As a nurse I do not like the thought of the lap band. It is a foreign body in your system. There is also incidence of erosion with the band and slippage. If you have more than 50lbs to lose lap band doesn't yield the best results. In addition, with lap band you have to visit your doctor for adjustments etc. Sleeve has become the first choice for bariatric surgery however, it hasn't been around as long as the others so evidence based research on the long term effects is still limited. This is what I based my decision on and I hope that helps. Good luck. Do your own research and be an educated consumer.

  2. A fellow sleever I met in nutrition class found me on her and ironically we are having surgery the same day!! She is the first case of the day and I am the second. We been texting since we are both going through the liver reduction diet together. It is fantastic to have someone to buddy up with. The liquid diet hasn't been bad at all. Honestly I haven't been really hungry but I do miss eating. We are allowed a half cup of non-starchy veggies a day... I been eating a cup. I am going to try to reduce it to a half tomorrow. I have lost 4 lbs already. I feel super sluggish and have to push really hard to get anything done and my gut is making embarrassing noises.

  3. that is amazing....what a transformation. I am scheduled for my surgery Feb 3. I have never been a size 6 and can't even imagine I could ever be that thin. Have you ever been that size? Hard to imagine it is even possible for me. I hope so though! I would love the clothes I could wear as a size 6!!!

  4. I had a baby at 40. I was able to get back to my pre-preg weight 2 1/2 years later and I was put on Lexapro for anxiety/depression that they related to post partum.... I gained 45 lbs back in 3 months. I was so upset. I knew I just could lose it by diet and exercise alone again. I was mentally and physically exhausted and I did not qualify because my BMI was only 35 so I ate up. Partly because I knew it would be easier to gain a few pounds than lose 75. I am having sleeve surgery Feb 3rd. On day 2 of liquid diet.... I want one of your turkey sammies!! NOW!!! LOL Stick with the appeal. Can you think of any other medical problems such as PCOS or back, joint problems? Anything you can add to your appeal to make it stronger do it.

  5. I am on day two of the diet. I am definitely sluggish and ornery to say the least but it is doable. My surgeon lets us eat a 1/2 cup of a non-starchy vegetable a day. Yesterday I had more than a half a cup probably more like a full cup. I think today I may be able to stick to the half. Each day it will be easier. I think the main intention (I get the liver reduction part) is to prepare us for what is to come post-op. I definitely miss chewing on something!!! You can do this. Think how good you are going to feel after you lose the excess weight. I have a toddler to chase and he is my motivation. Think of what motivates you most and run with that... let that fuel your fire!! Good luck. You will do fine. Positive thinking.
