    Esophagus pain (I think!)

Esophagus pain.... various things you mention may have have caused some trauma to your esophagus. Surgery itself. Being intubated. The tube they place down your throat during surgery causes a lot of local trauma. It does resolve. Try spraying a little chloraseptic back in your mouth and see if it help soothe it. Vomiting. Your throat is probably already irritated from the breathing tube they inserted for surgery and vomitus has a lot of acid which further irritates the mucosal lining of your esophagus. Dehydration: Causes lack of moisture and dries out your mucous membranes. If your swallow test was normal... just take it easy on your throat for now. This too shall pass. Good luck.

    Surviving when life sucks

My deepest condolences for your loss. Death of a loved one is hard enough to deal with let alone a death that is tragic. I hope you don't mind but I work in psychiatry and I think you could really benefit from some grief counseling now to get you through this. Please consider making an appointment with a psychologist or clinician in your area who specializes in grief counseling. It may help your tremendously. I am praying for you.

I actually love my green shakes! I make them in my cuisinart blender. Protein shakes with kale or spinach, frozen berries and cinnamon! I drink them everyday for breakfast. Well not now since I am on the pre op diet. So you don't like you Vitamix?

I bought a top of the line breville on an impulse purchase at Williams Sonoma. Of course now I have retired the juice attachment and have an overpriced blender.lol. I was just never able to find enough savory items that my taste buds liked. Most of the hardcore "green" fasting recipes were savory. Of course the one that you describe sounds delicious!

  17. yES i'm nervous...yes I have had some slip ups and have lost 5lbs... I do get up and drink down a 20oz of Water before the Protein shake in the morning.. all at once... so I think that helps full me in the morning.... but I have been hitting some raw carrots at night....I want to chew something so bad...... We shall keep each other posted... Joy will be back on soon... she was just done this monday... be well. JewelJ my surgeon allows us 1/2 cup non-starchy veggies a day but I eat closer to a cup. I am so hungry. I am down 8-9 lbs already. I miss my glass of wine at night. Lord knows when I will ever get to have that again.

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

i mean to say don't let it fully dissolve. Drink it mushy. It a med they usually give for ulcers. In laymans terms....protects and coats the stomach while its in the healing phase. It is a short term preventative thing. Hope my doc prescribes me some!!

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

ok... take pill break in half put in water dissolve and drink it down... it would fully dissolve. Then follow it with more water.

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

OMG..those pills are HUGE! I think you can dissolve them if my memory serves me right. Let me look into that.

    Tachycardia, anyone experienced this?

Five days really isn't that long. The surgery itself causes fluid shift that takes a while for your body to resorb (especially without any drains). Then there is the fluids you are given during and after surgery. I was overloaded with fluids for weeks after my C-section but I do not think I had issues with tachycardia or HTN. So they did not give you a rationale for it when they prescribed you the medication for your elevated pressure?
  24. Hi Curvy: They told us we may not be able to tolerate very cold or very hot liquids immediately post op. I will ask if it would be contraindicated. P.S. I stumbled upon your profile the other night... Amazing transformation!! I love this site!! Thanks
  25. That is great! We will have to follow each others progress. Please add me to your friends list! I have to do some shopping this weekend. Are you nervous at all? How is your pre op diet going? I am doing fair... definitely had a few slip ups. I still lsot six lbs since Friday so I am happy with that.
