    Bidmc

Just to chime in Dr. J did my surgery in April of 05. I have to say I am so glad that I chose him. I looked at B&W and Tufts also, but chose BIDMC because of Jones. I researched all the surgeons and their histories, credentials, read papers they had published, etc. and Jones was (IMO) by far the best surgeon in Boston. The aftercare is awesome and Angi is wonderful. You can call her anytime with any questions and she always gets back to you. If you ever go to the post op groups she is there and usually either Jones or Schneider are there too. (Schneider is great too) I have the VG band so it took me while to get to the "sweet spot" ( I never called in between fills wanting another sooner I just waited until the next appt but I think I handled the head hunger issues better that way.) But now that I am there wow the weight is flying off. Jones is honest and extrememly supportive. Even when I thought I wasn't doing that well (you know how impatient we can be) he always makes sure to tell me that HE thinks I'm doing great and to point out my success. I think you made a great choice! Good luck!

    Pouch question??

Hi all, I keep reading about people worried about "stretching their pouch". Isn't it more likely that if a person does overeat, they will bring it back up than actually stretch their pouch? That was my understanding from the meetings I've gone to. Also, woudn't they feel some pretty strong discomfort eating if this was occurring? I always assumed that if there was no "off" feeling and you just feel "full" that it was going through ok. Now granted everything that goes through me is either liquid or mushed/chewed to high heaven, but just trying to get my head wrapped around what I'm reading before it's time to move on. Thanks! BTW I hit the -20 lb mark since surgery yesterday- whoohoo

    banding in massachusetts

Hi! Well I didn't even know I wasn't "accepting emails". I went in and fixed that if you have any questions, please email me!
  5. Ok so I'm getting banded on Tuesday and I am SCARED TO DEATH. I'm scared of the surgery, scared of the pain (big time), and scared of what happens after the surgery. I know it's just nerves, but it almost has me paralyzed. (figuratively speaking) I have everything I need for home (and then some) and a totally awesome husband, family, and friends that are sooo supportive. I have no idea why I'm so scared, but it's awful. I have read everything of what to expect. My problem is that I feel like I am going to be the worst case scenario about every aspect of the band. AAAHHHH! Ok, just needed to vent! Kris

    Hi All

Hi everyone! I am new here, but have been lurking around for a while. I am being banded April 19th. I'm getting anxious to get it over with at this point. I have an awesome surgeon and a fabulous hospital so the surgery doesn't worry me as much as the pain factor afterwards (I'm a wuss).:cry Well, just wanted to say hi! Kris

    banding in massachusetts

Hi! I am having my surgery at Beth Israel with Dr. Jones in a couple of weeks. My first appointment was the first week of January, jumped through all the hoops, and got my date March 3. I could have had it sooner than April, but I scheduled it around work. I am very pleased with the program and the doctors. Hope this helps!
