Wow! I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you! I had a similar fear, so I told my regular shrink, whom I have seen for clinical depression for almost ten years, that I insisted he do the eval. I figured he knows me! I know that depression can be a hurdle for psych clearance and wanted to be sure it was clear that mine was well managed. He had to write the clearance letter that he seldom did, so that took a day or two, but was good. I know what you mean about being honest, I do think ultimately being honest is the right thing to do, but being open? Even after ten years with my shrink, that door remains partially closed, I think he knows that!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.
The bottle line is I failed at other diet efforts, so of course I am going to worry about this one too!
Last night I got my pre-surgery package from the surgeon and felt loads better. I have a four hour appt with the nutritionist next week and will get versed on all the specifics on the post-op and on going sleeve diets. I think I will feel much better because I will have information that is solid.

So, I'm about five weeks out till surgery (december 26) and doubt has fell in.
Here are the thoughts that have been raging in my head:
- What if I am the only person that this doesn't work on?
- What if I can't keep any food down?
- what if i get a leak?
- what if i only can get slider food down and never lose anything more then 24#?
- what if i start licking chocolate bars?
- what if i'm in pain and miserable for the rest of my life?
- what if i can't get in the diet mindset?
- what category of loser do i go in if I'm not able to be successful on this?
there are more, but.. I know if I make this post too long, no one will read.

After calling the insurance company, first thing in the morning on day fifteen (the insurance deadline), I was approved!
Now I am waiting to hear from the surgeons office!
-
Yesterday, after calling my insurance company, I got my approval! The insurance rep said their was a date of service (11/20) on it. Does that mean anything?
I haven't heard back from the surgeons yet , so I thought I would ask all of you.
-
Well, I figured it was my insurance, my money that pays for the insurance, my health and I have a right to know. I was never told to do otherwise, so I called multiple times. And they may have pushed it to the end of the pile, but the honored the commitment in saying they would have a response within 15 days. Now if the surgeons office would just call!

Yes' date=' I know insurance can be late, however, I intend to hold fast to the idea of believing what they told me... Even if it is a fantasy. Tired of waiting <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']Sometimes fantasy is good. I called the insurance company and found out I was approved!
Holy crap! Now what!

Thanks, no I am just doing a lousy job dieting. I may have lost five pounds in the last three weeks. If all goes thru, we will move on to shakes. Thanks for the good thoughts. I will try to keep it together. You're better than I am, I'd be calling them first thing! Actually, I will be calling today. .
-
Call them, ask for the status of your pre-cert. they will tell you

Today is the day insurance has to render a decision, and it's going to be a long day! Insurance said they will fax the doctor upon their approval... Don't know if the doctor will immediately notify me or not, but I am sure they will be hearing from me (I will try not to bug her too bad! )
-
I finally got my approval' date=' yeah! They took the whole fifteen days. Now I have to wait for my doctors office:(. Hang in there ladies! [/quote']Awesome! So excited for you and looking forward to hearing what all happens next.
I called the insurance company and tomorrow is 15 days and would have an answer by e.o.d. Tomorrow. So heavy nerves have set in.

Well, here's wishing all of us a speedy answer! I bugged the poor woman at the doctor's office enough she decided to call the nurse assigned to the case directly. She left her a message and said she'd let me know.
I'm really trying to get this done before the end of the year. Our insurance is supposed to change and I've already met my annual deductable (which is insanely high) so it would be very helpful to get an answer! The surgeon did say that if we can get the approval, he'd do what he can to get me on the schedule.

I know what you mean about single mom, though secretly it is probably what makes our marriage work!
Anthem is 15 days too, don't know if that includes weekends or not, but if we must just look at business days, I suppose I should hear by next Friday. I am driving the poor woman at the doctors office nuts - but at least I do it all via email.

Oh and my bmi is 39, so I am not at my insurance's auto approve. My surgeon suggested I get the test as a positive result would greatly improve the chances of insurance approving me. Still waiting.........

They want me to come back in for another sleep test using a cpap and then I guess we go from there. I haven't made it back yet because my husband is on tour and won't be home until 11/11 and I have an eight year old son. I did try the machine for a little while and I have my concerns. I have horrible allergies that have messed up my sinuses, I am often congested and sleep with my mouth open, and as you know, if you are wearing the thing and open your mouth and it feels like your brain is going to be sucked out! My dad recently got one and says it is actually great but takes a whirl to get used to. The sleep doc also said it will really help directly after surgery.

What do you miss most after Weight Loss Surgery?
in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Posted
The first month, I missed putting food in my mouth. I really did.
Now, at six months, I'm sometimes, sort of, and only when I'm procrastinating on something, I miss that full feeling.
This is something surprising to me, feeling (being) full is completely different now. Before surgery it was that low, in the bottom of your gut sensation, and now its up high, and uncomfortable. I know it's mental, and I probably need to do some work on this one, but other then that.. nothing.
Tell you what, the fact i can walk into a REGULAR clothing store, not hoping they have size 18 or so, because I can wear the sizes they have in stock.... that is AWESOME!
