1. you need to KNOW how much Protein and Water you are getting each day, so you know you are getting enough. otherwise your metabolism slows way down and hangs on to every ounce. there is a pinned post that has links to post op diets. i would search for that and start following an actual post op diet. and start tracking ASAP.

your body needs a certain amount of protein water and exercise to not go into starvation mode and stop losing. this is why you need to track exactly what you are eating, drinking and doing.

here is the link to my post op diets. you should read through them and maybe this can help you with whatever you are missing. good luck.

http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/highland/departments-centers/bariatrics/bariatric-diets.aspx

  2. I was terrified as well cried for hours the night before just because of the fear of the unknown the recovery was much much easier than I expected, not easy but not as bad as I had feared. Biggest thing you can do is walk as soon as you can. You will be fine! I started surgery day at 308 I'm at 281 today. I was just moved to soft foods and eating is definitely tough I can handle yogurt and sugar free pudding fairly easy but foods with more consistency are tough I can only handle 6-7 bites and I am stuffed. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine.

  3. I just realized I hadn't recalculated my BMI. Went from 54.9 to now 49.6!!!! Out of the 50's!

Awesome job!! Just think where we are going to be this time next year!!! Hotties!!!

Can't wait!! How are you doing?
I'm feeling really good almost back to normal however the scale on the other hand is not good I'm assuming it's the dreaded 3 week stall all the vets talk about I've only shown a 2 oz loss in the last 3 days. I know it will pass but it's so frustrating.

  4. Last Thursday.

Could you all explain the stitch popping? I have never heard of this, my surgeon nevertheless mentioned it and I was curious what it means...what it feels like, when it happens, watch...so I don't freak out if it happens and send myself to the ER.

The stitch on the left side is a deep tethered muscle stitch my understanding is this is done to hep prevent hernias. I definitely did not hurt wen it happened actually is was almost instant relief on my left side. It's really difficult to explain how it felt but I definitely felt it pop free, my best description would be like popping you knuckles on your fingers. It startled me but did not hurt in any way. Search it on this site there are lots of post on it.

  5. Hi all! I am 19 days out and was doing really great until last weekend. I was picking up all the dog toys off my living room floor and began to get sore in my lower left abdomen area just below the tethering stitch. Ever since then I have had significant pain if I move the wrong way, sitting especially. I can no longer bend over, sleep on my sides, or do ANYTHING quickly. I am frustrated because I was feeling so good and I feel like I set myself back. I called the doc and they said I did too much and this is a normal side effect that can happen. But now it's been a week and it's not getting any better! I have a call into today after a horrible nights sleep with pain that brought tears to my eyes. I have no fever, am getting fluids and Protein in for the most part, and over all am feeling good. But this really hurts and really frustrates me. I'm hoping other might know what I'm talking about and be able to give me advice about how long it lasts or at least general support.

I'm sorry you're having a setback! I was overly cautious and still won't bend over or lift anything! (lucky I have an amazing husband). Do you have any pain meds or taking any Tylenol? I had horrible pain there that only stopped yesterday, and my surgery was the 13th. I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom for you but I hope you recover quickly and hopefully have something for pain.

I have some pain meds and they dull the pain but don't even come close to resolving it. I am 31And even at 320 pounds was relatively active. I live alone in a three story town home and I've had to resort to calling my mom to come over and do things for me. She is very willing and loves to help but I feel like a invalid and am so frustrated. I can't do laundry, load the dishwasher, pick up things from the floor, and it takes me almost 5 minutes to put in socks because of the bending. I'm just sad and frustrated.
Hey I was wondering how you were doing. I felt the same was a couple days before my stitch popped. Hopefully your stitch is preparing to pop and that's why you are feeling so bad. I felt immediate relief when that thing broke loose. How are you doing on pounds lost??
