    Can't Believe I Did That!

Thank goodness for the sleeve! I did cave, but there was a limit to the damage I could do. I'm being very good today. I WANT to lose that weight more than I want to eat crap! I'm luckier than most - I live alone and only have to worry about MY food. Accordingly, there is NOTHING in the fridge or pantry, except canned chicken. Unless I'm cooking for the family (like today) when the cupboard is full of all sorts of goodies. But that only happens every month or so. So after dinner, I'm going to send the leftovers home with them and go back to keeping the bare essentials in my pantry.

Actually, that's the same argument as the skin. Ignore me.

No one else in my family is fat. I am the only one. I take after my father's side of the family, where the women were huge. My kids have all got their father's skinny gene. (Luckily, they all have my good looks and intelligence!!!) And, by the way, who says that 75% of my stomach was perfectly functioning? I think it was making too much ghrelig, making me too hungry and was way too big. If I had an enormous nose, I have that trimmed a bit, even if it was "perfectly functioning".

I'm a grammar nazi. I once corrected the interviewer in a job interview (didn't get the job) haha! He said "to who..." Arrgghh! Drives me NUTS!

Did you do that on purpose? Since you said you'd like to improve, I'd like to correct you. But you may have been taking the Michael, in which case I'll look like a nerd...

Soo funny! I have laughed my head off reading these posts! As I've said before, Lap Band is no longer offered in NZ. Got nothing to do with insurance - everything is self pay here. Too many complications, very poor results. Maybe it works for some people, but clearly not enough or it would still be offered here. RNY is still offered, but it is less common now, apparently. My surgeon said that the VSG is becoming the gold standard wls in the world. For now. Who knows what they will come up with next? Scientists are working on a Ghrelin vaccine. Perhaps wls will no longer be needed. In 50 years time, people will say, "OMG, can you imagine, people used to have 75% of their stomach amputated."

    Can't Believe I Did That!

Hey guys, I really appreciate the words of support. I felt so angry with myself last night. But a good sleep puts it all in perspective. Yes, before surgery I would have drunk the whole glass (actually, six months ago I would have drunk the whole bottle!) and I would have eaten all 8 sticks of cheese in the packet. And probably had a packet of crackers as well! So you are all correct - I am changing my relationship with food. Scary stuff!

    Can't Believe I Did That!

Thanks for that. I think i just got bored and lonely. Haven't kept myself busy enough today. That won't be a problem tomorrow - got my whole family coming around for dinner. I'm cooking up a feast, even though I can't eat any of it!! And that's why the wine is in the fridge. I clearly have the willpower of a gnat! Note to self - send all the wine home with them!!! (and the cheese)

The Lap band procedure is no longer offered in NZ. Surgeons call ithe lap band "surgical bulimia". Bariatric surgery is not covered under medical insurance in any case (it's 99% self pay), so the surgeons aren't influenced by what might or might not be covered under various insurance plans. VSG has just about the only surgery on offer here because it's simple to do (apparently), relatively safe and effective.

What's the story behind your profile name?

Haha! I think the Hooker Name generator has given us a bit more than we bargained for! Much safer to stay with your pet's name and street!

What's the story behind your profile name?

Okay, so I found a Hooker Name generator - mine is Honey Swallows. Hmm. Not sure if that has added anything to my life!!!

What on earth is a "hooker name"? How do I find mine? :-)
  16. That's awesome! Thank you :-)

Anyone Afraid of Telling Others about WLS?

Your mum is afraid, that's all. Not necessarily judgmental. My adult kids were the same before I had the surgery. Now that it's done (and I didn't die!) they are more than supportive.

When people ask "How did you lose weight?"

A friend of a friend of mine lost heaps of weight - totally transformed. Now that I have had the surgery, I am looking at formally fat people with new eyes, going "Aha! That's how she did it!" I'm happy to tell people. There was one "friend" I told a lie to (said I had my gall bladder out), only because she is malicious and a gossip. But my tiny weight loss is not visible yet.

I Am Lost On This New Site Configuration...

I'm on android - it won't show me the threads I'm following. And I'm sure there was much more activity before the change.
  21. Fantastic progress! It's so great to see before and after pics - such an inspiration!
  22. Soo, we're talking percentages so it should work just as well with kgs? 11.4/50*100 22.8%! Sounds way more impressive than 11.4 kgs.
  23. I can't eat food! Even puree and deli meats make me puke more often and not, but I keep trying. So I'm drinking 4-5 Protein shakes a day. Getting 80g of protein and about 1200 of Fluid. Also managing a spoon or two of avocado. Feel like I'm STARVING!! But I guess that's the point...
