    Need advice

Just know it will likely hurt if you injest carbonation. I was told to wait until I was two months out from surgery to even try it. I do now, on occasion, have a carbonated beverage with no discomfort. I just really try to not let it become a habit again.
  2. Hi Abigail. At two months, I was just released to an unrestricted diet. Try for 64 ounces of liquid, if not more. 60-70 grams of Protein. I was still drinking at least one Protein Drink a day at that point. Try to stick with the protein first rule. It really does work. I would encourage you to not avoid your doctor. Your doc is the main person who can help you. They've been through this many, many times.they will have good advice for you. Good luck!

    Not losing weight

The stalls are miserable and it's super hard to be patient. I feel like I am stalled more often than not. Hang in there. Work the program. The scale will move...eventually.
  4. Crackers. I bought the baked ones thinking it was a at least a better choice, but when I easily eat two servings - not a good choice.
  5. Digital food scale. I use it daily, if not multiple times a day.

    average weight loss...

You're right, there is no normal. So many factors. Age. Sex. Activity level. BMI. Length of pre-op diet. And other factors as well. All that said, I lost 19 pounds in the first month. I'm a slow loser.

    HELP

I did have a cholesterol med that was giving me stomach pain - thought I was getting an ulcer. Once I stopped the med, it took 3-4 weeks for the stomach pain and nausea to go away. Maybe it's a med that isn't agreeing with your new tummy...? Now, I started a new med and I'm covered, head to toe, in super itchy hives. But that is another story. I'm glad to hear the tea was helpful. Keep chipping away at the possibilities.

    Question

I get them as a full signal. In the beginning (first week or two) they really hurt. But now, now problem. I just know I'm full.

    Colonoscopy

I had one last summer, prior to being sleeved. I agree with magtart - I don't know how we will get all of that prep drink down. I recall that I was drinking 8 ounçes every 15 minutes. I don't think I could keep that up for 2+ hours. Maybe you just drink it slower over a longer period of time....?

    Scared

Yep, totally normal. I would be surprised if people weren't worried. There is a calculated risk. And then there's the fear of giving up the food we love. Lots to deal with. My surgery and recovery has been textbook - no issues at all.

    Employer exclusion question

Same here. Totally excluded. It's a hard stop for insurance coverage.

    $600 Bariatric Program Fee

Mine was $250 and I'm embarrassed to admit I have no idea what it covered.

    Protein to carb ratio

My NUT says carbs should equal proteins. She says you are malnourished if your carbs are too much lower than proteins. I think my NUT is nuts!

    Is it bad?

Totally approved. The liquid intake trumps the sweetener. Those tropical Popsicles were a blessing the first week.

    HELP

I've not heard of that before. I too. Was sleeved in October and I thought we were home-free of any complications. Yikes! Please drop an update here when you figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, I will send you tons of good juju!
  16. Yep a small gain or the scale doesn't move at all.

What my doctor says about stalls...

You are so right! But, damn, it's hard when you're in the middle of a stall!

    Sleeve Myths

Excellent post! I would add that you really need to manage your expectations about rate of weight loss going into this process. You will see lots of people dropping TONS of weight in a short few months. I mean, like 80-100 pounds! You need to be prepared that you may not be one of them. I was/am disappointed with my (comparatively) slow weight loss. I still struggle with this. But the truth is, the weight IS coming off - just slower than I originally thought.

    Endoscopy question

They told me not to drie for 16 hours. I was perfectly fine after about an hour. I don't think you'll be out of it all day. My faux husband had his and reacted the same way.

    Head Hunger & Actual Pain

Talk to your surgeon about your fears. I have to believe there are things they can do to make it less scary. For example, I was injected with a local anesthetic before they inserted my IV. Though the shot stung, it made the IV insertion. So much better. Once in my hospital room (which is where I woke up) I had a morphine drip. I slept with the trigger in my hand. I pushed that button every time I thought about it. I did not have any real discomfort in the hospital. Mostly, for me, it was that deep stitch. And that felt like muscle pain. By the way, you can't get too much morphine, as it's regulated. My point is that I made sure I was hitting the button to keep the meds a coming. I think it helped. No real pain at home, either. Again, just that darn stitch. You'll. feel that for a while. Good luck on your journey!

    Ok guys....I need help

In agreement with the above posters......you should be hungry every few hours. You can't get enough food into your tiny tummy to hold you longer than that. Sadly, i was not one of those that lost my hunger. I joke that I came out of surgery hungry. It's only a half joke

    Blood pressure question

I am still taking my BP med, but at half dosage since surgery. Is likely I will never come off due to my deep family history of hypertension. But a girl can hope!

    Hospital stay

One night. Just under 24 hours including surgery.
  24. Yep. Surgery on a Thursday, home on Friday and back to work on Monday. No issues since I sit all say.
