    No desire for food.

I did not/do not have this issue with food. I was hungry while I was in the hospital. I would encourage you to set an alarm for both drinking and eating. Dehydration is a serious risk. And the Protein is needed for healing. And nutrition. Maybe just work on Protein drinks since it counts as Fluid and food.

    Stress, newly sleeved

Caroline, I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine your loss. Sending you tons of good juju.

    Rude awakenings....

Yowza! I've not had this experience. Your post serves as a PSA for me. I will be careful to not eat too late.

    Update time

That's fantastic progress! I think the moderation route is the way to go, provided it works for you, and clearly it has!
  5. I've used a straw since day two. But my doc said it was okay. Said if it bothers you, stop. I've had no issues using a straw.
  6. You look great! Very inspirational.
  7. Even with dense protein? How many ounces of dense protein can you get down!

    3 month post op stats

I will be 12 weeks on Thursday. I've lost 39 pounds. 5'6" with an average build. I've been stuck for over two weeks. I've been stalled almost half the time since surgery. Anxious to see the scale move again!

    Help me

Nah, I think you're fine. You won't feel the restriction with liquids like you will when you get to real food. I am recalling that I could eat 1/2 cup of soup at 10 days out, too.

    Help me

    Please define a lot.

I finally got to the 100s!

Excellent! Congrats! I'm a bit jealous, as I've been bouncing between 207-208 for over two weeks now. Ready to see the scale move again!

    Shrimp?

Shrimp was on my list of approved foods starting at week 3. It is an excellent source of protein. And so low-cal.

    Thoroughly unscientific poll

My doctor never gave me a goal weight. I picked one, based on it being in the normal range. I think I will know when I get there. I hope.

    Never doing THAT again

Ya, I drank a protein drink too quickly as I was trying to rush out the door one day. Miserable!

    Protein drinks

Yes! It's been a few months and I'm tired of them. I really don't like them. I usually only have one a day nowadays. Try to hit my protein goals with real food.

    Did I stretch? (venting, mostly)

Do you still feel a good amount of restriction when you eat dense protein? If so, I would say you've not stretched anything. My understanding is that it would take chronic over-eating to cause stretching. I don't think the occasional over-eating would do it.

    I'm a looser

We are sleeve sisters! I, too, had surgery on 10/17. Congrats on your weight loss! I am looking forward to being back in the 1's.....someday. I've been stuck at the same weight for almost 3 weeks. Though I know it will pass, it's so frustrating when you're in the middle of it.

    Is my pouch stretched?

Nah, this sounds normal to me. The pain should lessen when you're drinking/eating. Meaning, you should be able to handle things better with time. I no longer have any pain or discomfort unless I eat/drink way too fast or eat too fast.
  19. The first two weeks, the pounds fell off. Every pound after that has been hard won. The last couple of weeks have been ounces - if I'm lucky. No magic bullet here.....sadly.

I did a lot of reading on this site and I had a friend who was sleeved in August so I felt very prepared for what to expect. I would say the nervousness is totally normal, but so unnecessary. The medical team in the surgery center is top notch. They show compassion and seem to truly care that you are comfortable. For me, the most painful part of the recovery is that deep stitch on your left side. No incision pain. I had much more anxiety over getting the staples removed than I did the EGD or surgery, and that was a complete waste of energy. It was a breeze. I couldn't even feel most of them coming out. You will not meet your Water or Protein goals for several weeks so don't fret over that. They will tell you it is more important to work towards the water goal than the protein goal - gotta prevent dehydration. You will likely be constipated. I've still not won that war. I expect this will be a challenge for some time. You will have stalls. And they are frustrating. You just have to gut your way through. I have lost 3 pounds in the last 16 days. I can go 10-14 days with no loss. Though I know it's normal, it is discouraging. Overall, I have lost 39 pounds in 11 weeks. I am a slow loser, i guess. But it is better than I could do without the sleeve. I just know it's going to work and I need to be patient. Oh, I would also say don't over-pack for the hospital stay. I wore the same clothes home that I wore there. I didn't even shower there. I took clean underwear, toothbrush and toothpaste, iPad and phone. And lip balm. I worked that morphine so I could rest up as much as possible. Laid low on the day I got home and went the the movies the next day. Please let me know if you have any other questions and GOOD LUCK!! It's all very exciting!

One night. Surgery at 9am on a Thursday and out by 9am on Friday. Do you have a date yet?

    Im hungry :( :( :(

I was hungry since day one. It gets better when you can add real food. Even the eat,y foods like a scrambled egg and runny oatmeal. It helps. Soup made me happy too.

    Always Hungry

I find that I am hungry a couple hours after eating. I am trying to go with eating smaller amounts more often. I've not mastered this yet, as life gets in the way.

    Contemplating sleeve surgery

I am only 3 months post-op so I can't speak to regain. I can tell you my 2-month lab work was near perfect. I think we have yo be diligent about taking vitamins and supplements.
