Texasgrandma got a reaction from ColoEmpress in This is so difficult!
I truly can appreciate you're feelings. I am 3 months out and only over the last month have I really started feeling well and getting the hang of this. It is tough but it really will get better. Like you, I thought I'd made a mistake. I wasn't used to my tiny sleeve and how it would affect so much of my life. They tell us this stuff before surgery, but actually implementing it was hard. There is so much to learn. It has been worth it though. I wouldn't have told you that 6 weeks out though. Give yourself some time and you will be able to meet your goals and as you see that happening, it is very gratifying and encouraging. I'm still working at hitting my Protein and Water goals but I'm getting there and I just wake up every day with a new resolve. You can do this!

I just joined this forum and your post really touched me. I lost my brother and was going through severe clinical depression. I know it feels like you cant put one foot in front of the other but those are the things you need to do. It is extremely important to talk to the people on this forum, your friends and pastor or counselor. You cannot become isolated. You certainly have a lot on your plate but you've invested in YOU and you need to take care of yourself. Isolation is the worst thing for you. If you can lean on your friends or family or turn to these forum members. They understand where you are and what you're feeling. Let everyone help.

Texasgrandma reacted to kwigillingok in I've lost a 10 year old!
According to the chart at my doctor's office, a 10 year old should weigh about 70 pounds. That's how much I've lost this year, 25 of it since my surgery 9/16. I'm feeling pretty good about that right now!
Had my one month follow up appointment this afternoon and I had prepared myself to be lectured by the surgeon about not having lost enough weight. Surprisingly, he was happy with my progress as well. Of course he couldn't let me enjoy it for long, because he made sure to remind me that 25 pounds, considering what I have to lose, is just a drop in the bucket. Wants me to lose 90 pounds in the next five months, and I honestly have no idea if that's doable or not but I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing since apparently it's working!
I'm having a lot of people come up to me at work now commenting on the fact that I'm losing weight, funny how that happens. Nobody goes up to a coworker and says, "hey man, looks like you've aired up that old spare tire". I don't mind the questions, just don't understand why people care so much about someone else's body. /shrug
I looked in the mirror today and I saw a real difference in my appearance, talk about surreal! I'm really looking forward to seeing what I look like in another 70 pounds! And collar bones, I wanna see my collar bones!!
