  1. I had surgery 4/30 and have lost 37 pounds. I've hit a plateau the last 2 weeks and now my period is late (not pregnant) which may be a result of the weight loss. So now I'm waiting for the scale to move and to get my period which I feel may be the culprit to the stall. I too failed with the lap band and feel stressed I'm starting to feel like that again. I am increasing my Water and exercise this week.

  2. Are most of you required to get medical clearance from your PCP before the band removal? Is this an insurance requirement or a surgeon requirement? My dr office throws this at me today in a letter when she called me last week. It's just another step and another thing they failed to tell me about. So frustrating

  3. Does anyone know if everyone gets bad scar tissue with the band? I've had mine since Sept 2012 and been deflated since Oct 2013 due to constant vomiting and poor weight loss. Having the revision at the end of January 2014 but am worried reading about all the people who couldn't have it done in 1 surgery.

  4. I would never do the band again. I just got approved for a revision. I also became bulimic. It was so stressful. I couldn't eat anything healthy like chicken salad vegetables etc. I vomited almost daily. It was embarrassing and made me so anxious I went with the band cuz I was too afraid of a more invasive surgery. Never again. In the 14 months I have had it I only lost 24 pounds. Good luck and be confidant with your decision!

  5. Did anyone get denied by their insurance for a revision? I have Barnabas health in NJ. My coordinator said she primarily needed my psych eval to send in to get approval which I did last week and they had to write a letter saying how the band failed me. I threw up from day one with the band. Was pretty much bulimic but only lost 15 pounds in 13 months. It just stressed me out. I was deflated 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling human again but gained 3 pounds already.

  6. I went to my Dr. on Friday and they wanted to take some Fluid out, but I told them no that I was done with this thing. They ended up taking all my fluid out (8cc) for immediate then my doctor said the Band is not for everyone, so he suggested the sleeve. I am currently in the process now of getting insurance apporoval for the sleeve. The inusrance coordinatior told me once they get the psych eval they can submit for insurance. I hope I get approved. I only had 3 fills over the 14 month period I had it, but it made no difference. I am so mentally stressed over this thing, I want nothing more to do with it. I will keep you updated

  7. Thank you for sharing. I just want to move forward. I tried with this thing, it is so disappointing. Im embarassed to tell anyone I have it cuz I look the same. I also have high blood pressure and I still haven't been able to reduce the dosage of my meds. Im afraid I am damaging my esophogus with all this vomitting as well. I had esophogitis and GERD before the band. I too feel like I can't even eat healthy foods, cuz they get stuck . Salads Im done after 2 bites, chicken forget it, even tender meat is a probablem. Pork was a problem from the beginning. eggs are out, most vegetables if I eat Protein before and it gets stuck and I have to vomit. I could go on, but you remember. Thanks for listening.

  8. Hi...new to this site. Been researching about gastric sleeve after gastric banding. Have had my band since Sept 2012 and only lost 14 pounds. I can't stand it anymore. Im not losing weight, I never know if I can eat. Somedays I can, then the next day I can't. throw up ALOT...very embarassing. Get very anxious when I can't eat, which just makes it worse. So then I go for foods I know I can eat...chips, Soups, pudding. Not a great diet at all. I go to the doctor tomorrow to see if the sleeve is an option for me. Not sure what the criteria for a band "faliure" entails. Can anyone relate or give me more info on their experience.
