I am 3 weeks out. I had hernia repaired during surgery. A few days after I started purée, I started having discomfort where I imagine the hernia was. At first I thought it was heartburn but I am not so sure. Maybe just some left over healing pain? Anyone else experience this?

I was sleeved Monday the 31st and had the hiatal hernia repair also. I felt like that was giving me more trouble than the sleeve! I was having trouble taking a deep breath and was super sore. I had that nasty yuck in the back of my throat but that has gone away now. I still feel like I have a brick in my chest - especially when drinking. I do better with warm or room temp drinks. I cannot drink cold water! Keep in touch! I hope you feel better!!

My surgery was the 31st of March and this as is real! But getting better daily. Getting this Protein shake down is not easy. I can only finish about half in a day. I do pretty good with my liquids though. Walking pretty good. He repaired my hiatal hernia, so I am still a little sore, but off pain meds. I know it is a process and these discussions always help me remember that! Thank you!

I was the 31st as well and had the hiatal hernia too! I have trouble with taking a deep breath! I feel like I have a brick in my chest at times! Got 8oz of a Protein Shake down last night and that was rough!!! My doc told me to focus on 50 oz of liquids first then Protein. I feel like there is not enough hours in the day!!!! I am still taking the pain meds, but less often . Keep me posted! I like to see where people are that had it done the same day I did - especially with the hiatal hernia repair - which I did not even know I had!!!!

My surgery is March 31. Thank you all for being so honest. Believe it or not, it does make me feel better knowing that some of you are having a bit of a hard time. I'm really nervous about the surgery and reading about some of your problems helps me to prepare myself and to not be surprised when things are tough. If everyone talked about how easy it was and then I had some troubles, I'd feel like a total failure. I am prepared for pain and nausea and I am worried about getting in all the Protein and fluids. It never occurred to me to try a vegetable protein in chicken broth. I'm going to add that to my shopping list. Thanks again for talking about your regrets.

I hope you all feel better soon.

My surgery was also the 31st. How is it going for you? I ha a horrible day one and two but was better yesterday. I think the morphine was making me sick. I am tryin really hard to get the fluids in. I took a shower and feel human again!

I know!! It seems silly. If I could lose it on my own I would not need the surgery!! I will keep my head up and think positive! I guess it could be worse - I originally was told a 6 month diet and it is only 3....

I have Aetna. I know I need to think positive. My surgeons office seemed to think the peer to peer review would work - otherwise I am going to appeal it myself!

So bummed! Insurance denied me because I gained weight in December. I actually did not go over my starting weight - just gained what I had lost in my first month - which I lost again in January! So frustrated! Now I have to go and get weighed again and my surgeon is going to call insurance. I even had a tentative surgery date of March 31st. Any similar experiences out there?

I am in Cleveland! Tentative date March 31 with Dr. Ben-Meir!
-
I am also waiting. My stuff was submitted last week and insurance had called my surgeons office for more weight history (I hope that is not a bad thing!). I am tentatively scheduled for March 31st if approved!

What insurance do you have? I started the process in November and was told 6 months of a supervised diet but they are submitting me after 3 months saying the same thing - it is 3 months now! I am waiting to hear and keeping fingers crossed! I have Aetna.
-
I know - I need to get focused on no drinking with meals... And no diet Pepsi!!!! It is going to be hard. Have you been to any of the pre op meetings? They are pretty informative - even though I am not really a "group" person!
-
I am almost at 3 months of diet. It is hard. I lost 4 lbs the first month then gained it back over the holidays!! How about you?
-
You are so lucky!!! I am going to Dr Ben Meir at Lake West. I love the staff I am working with!

Yep. I'm in the last month of the 3 month waiting period for my insurance. No date yet. Hoping for early March.

What hospital are you goin through?

I am almost 3 months into my 6 month pre-diet. The month of December was not easy! My surgeons office is going to try to submit after 3 months but I am not getting my hopes up - so I am figuring surgery in June. Anyone else out there?
-
Has anyone had luck with Aetna approving after 3 months of a supervised diet vs 6 months? My doctors office said they will submit after 3 months and see if it would get approved.

Thanks!! If I can squeeze into a bathing suit at this weight , a little saggy skin should be a piece of cake! ????

Ok - I have a bizarre question. If you have surgery in the summer - is it hard to be out in the sun and stay hydrated? I am thinking about pool days with my kids and am getting ready to start the 6 month pre-diet - so that would put me close to June - just in time for summer!
is this normal?

I had the hernia repair and had the same issues. Still can't take a deep deep breath easily. Had some discomfort in the area where I thought the hernia repair was last week but that has settled down too. Make sure to drink your fluids!
