I lived on this recipe for weeks and weeks till I got burned out on refried Beans.
One of my favorite Mexican foods.
I got all the ingredients at Walmart. It cost about $4 for 2 days worth of meals (4 - 6 meals in my case). It's very filling and sticks with me.
    1 lb of chicken breast.
1 pkg of Taco Bell Taco seasoning.
(I tried other name brand taco mixes and the store brands, Taco Bell tastes the best and is just as cheap. There is a Taco Bell chipolte version as well, but I liked the regular version the best. )
1 can of gebhardt refried Beans w/fat.
(I tried the non-fat version and I like the fat version better. It only has 2grams of fat per serving.)
Salsa or Picante or Taco sauce to taste
1 pkg of your favorite shredded cheese.
I grill the chicken breast and run it through my food processor.
Mix the taco seasoning with about 1/2 cup of Water and mix it thoroughly. I mix it in my Protein shake shaker.< /p>
Toss the chicken into a pot or pan and add the taco seasoning.
Bring it up to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
Mix the chicken and beans in a bowl. Add some salsa if it's too thick for your taste.
Spoon some of the mixture into a bowl and top with cheese and salsa.

This is DonRodolfo's fault. He asked for a sleeve-friendly taco recipe so here's mine. Pics on the blog at http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/10/05/taco-casserole-high-protein-gluten-free-low-carb/
Yesterday was national Taco day and I wanted a taco. Well, let’s be honest, I just wanted a taco and it happened to be National Taco day which was a great excuse!
I’ve been wanting to try this very simple casserole that would be family-friendly. Unlike many of my recipes, this does rely on ready-made seasonings and a can (gasp!) but what the heck. It still tasted great! I made this with no chips or taco shells.
    Ingredients
    1 lb lean ground beef
1 tbsp taco seasoning (I use a big jar from Costco)
    1 c fat-free refried Beans (Rosarita’s can).
    1/2 c grated cheese
    4 campari tomatoes chopped
    Garnish
    Sour cream
    Guacamole
    Salsa
    Chopped Onions
    Chopped lettuce
    Method
    1. Brown ground beef and add taco seasoning. Mix well.
    2. Heat oven to 400 degrees
    3. Layer taco meat in a pan. I used a glass one because I thought it would be pretty to see the layers. The boys came into the kitchen attracted by the smell and dug into it before I could take a picture so…maybe use whatever you want.
    3. Empty half a can of the refried beans. Add enough Water to liquefy slightly. You want this to be like a thick pancake batter so you can spread it around properly. Once this is done, spread on top of the taco meat.
    4. Cover mixture with cheese, and chopped tomatoes. My dog loves raw tomatoes so I had to chop an extra one. YMMV.
    5. Bake in oven for 20 mins or until cheese is melted. If you want the top browned, turn your oven to broil and have at it. My kids were too hungry to wait.
    6. Serve with garnishes on the side and let each diner pick their toppings.

I promise it will get better! And you are right, they have no clue. If you begin to feel tempted by what they are eating, get away from it, let them know that you might have to resort to going for a walk (which is good for you anyway) take a bath or reading a book. Make sure that you don't get all grumpy and mad at them because it is easy to become bitter for a while since they dont get it. But honestly, they are just doing what they know to do. So, chin up, things will get better, once you start seeing the changes in your body and once you start getting to experiment with solid foods, it will get easier. Once you can start eating a little bit more normal foods, you can begin to cook with your diet restrictions in mind and you all can eat the same thing. There is a website Skinny Taste and she has some great recipes that my whole family love to eat and I can eat as well! Just keep on doing what you are suppose to do and just wait and see! Before you know it, things will be looking up! Good luck~

Hi my name is Jenny 31 started at 296 & I'm now at 273 but I am new to this world, I am now on my 9th day after surgery. Its crazy how much my taste buds have changed & I'm running out of ideas for my full liquid stage.. It gets frustrating at times because I've changed not the world around me, so having my family parade around me with certain foods bothers me... They just don't understand how hard it can be......

I guess I was lucky that I live alone, I've read lots of posts about people having to cook for their family post-op and how difficult it was not to try a bite or 2. Just keep coming around here and you'll soon find out, you're not alone.
P.S. Your taste buds will go back to normal, I promise.
    Keep Pimpin' that Sleeve!
