My Doctor monitored me for three months without meds. I checked myself 3 times per week and he checked me every other week. After three months, he declared me "healed"!!! HA! I'm so glad!

You can do it!!! I am over one year out, and find that I eat about 1/3 of what I used to eat at a mealtime, but have very limited snacking. I only snack if I really need it...then something small and healthy, and nothing after dinner....90 pounds lost so far. Also, don't forget to get out there and get moving....walking really helps get the weight off. Good luck!

What we used to call "normal" is what got us in this situation. You will feel MUCH BETTER, I promise. Once you become accustomed to the band, it's GREAT! I am over one year out, and I am so glad that I did this. I have lost 90 pounds so far, and am no longer hyper-tensive, and have been able to come off meds!!! Hang in there....your new normal is on the way!

May I ask what's a "sleeve"?

Hey be thankful they paid for the surgery, my BC/BS, in Alabama would not pay one cent. ....I paid 15,000 out of pocket...so take heart, it could be worse. Look at the money you are saving on food! LOL

Not fun...either one!!! CHEW CHEW CHEW!

the issue is being a little too tight. This is the only time I have problems with acid re-flux post banding. I had severe GERD before banding. Ask your doctor about the possibility of being a little too restricted, or possibly something caught in your band.

I do the hiccup thing after eating, and small burps, along with the, uh....other type of gas. My doctor recommended breathing out as I am swallowing. I do this especially with fluids, and the results have been great.....MUCH less gas

That's so awesome. Hopefully I will be ready for some "help" with the deflation issue soon. Only 40 more to my goal.

Great news for you, so glad to hear it. I am finally at restriction and looking forward to the "narrow road" LOL! Good luck to all that enter here!

how true!!

Thanks for the word of warning, I am 24 hours post fill that should finally give me restriction, and I will remember your word of caution.

Dear Croatia,
Don't eat or drink anything 2-3 hours before bedtime. Keep your head elevated. Try a couple of teaspoons of vinegar, for some bizarre reason this seems to help people with bands who experience reflux problems. Best of luck to you!

That's awesome! Looks like you are having great success with your band...good for you!!

I feel like I have done my homework, but I am unable to find a list of foods that are recommended, and those that are "no-no's". Can anyone give advice?
Many Thanks

Just realize that sometimes people utter things in ignorance, often out of love...not that it helps your feelings all that much. You will have lots of comments, believe me. You will also have lots of eyes watching every time you eat anything...people are so judgmental!!! Don't worry about it, you know what's best for you, so go forth with courage and tenacity!!

I think it's pretty common, as I often deal with this issue. My doctor suggested as I am about to swallow (after thorough chewing!), breath out through my nose, then swallow. He said that the excessive gas is due to swallowing air with my food....give it a try. Maybe with all the extra chewing, we breath in more air....sounds plausible.

I would give my surgeon a call. My doctor prescribed anti nausea medicine Phenergran for situations such as this. I do agree that you should still be on Clear Liquids at this time. Your problem is probably due to swelling. Your belly is simply not ready for thicker foods yet.

LOL...good analogy
Infrared body wraps
in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Posted
Has anyone done an infrared body wrap post lap band? I have done two, but started thinking about one of the questions asked on the sign up sheet. It asked if you had silicone implants. I do not, but I was wondering if this procedure could possibly damage the band. The salon that I did this at did not know. Can anyone answer this question?
Thanks
