    Protein bars

If anyone is looking for a good protein bar that fills you up, I recommend the nature valley protein bars. I got the dark chocolate nut flavored. I had to be very careful with chewing it but it keeps me full longer than any food I've had. It has 10g protein per bar.
  2. I did a good amount of working out while loosing my weight. I thought I was young enough to also spring back but in some areas it did not happen. I would also suggest the weight training while losing the weight. My arms look pretty good but could be a lot better if I did the weights early on. The inside side of my legs are saggy. I personally wouldn't wear higher shorts but if I did I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them. I've lost 110 pounds and I'm 29. I did lose it faster than I expected and that could have some bearing on the extra skin too.

    Waist to Height Ratio?

I did the same thing last week. I'm 5'0 and 128 pounds and I'm still considered overweight by the BMI chart. Society wonders why women have such an unrealistic goal when it comes to body image.

    SURVIVOR TONY & THE PIZZA?

I don't watch it but I do work at a impound company with an office of 5 guys. My boss sat there today and are a whole medium pizza by himself. It's just disgusting to me now. I can't imagine consuming that amount of food. It's very difficult working there because there's always fast food and junk going in and out all day.

    Gurgles

I gurgle all the time. It's worse at night if I lay down shortly after drinking. My husband laughs at it all the time. And yes it is loud but you make the best of it!

    Pumkin seeds

Has anyone had an issue eating them with your band? I was thinking about trying them in place of my protein drinks.

    Hunger pains

How much protein are you drinking a day? And are you drinking thicker drinks or watery? The first couple weeks of post op are difficult. You will get hungry. I was miserable and begged the doctor to let me eat. Just hang in there because it's all worth it in the end

    Success stories please!

Success is what you make out of it! I love that I can run and run and run. I walked up 7 flights if stairs in heels last week. I wasn't out if breath and feeling like I wanted to die when I got to the top. I love that I can have an off day and eat what I want yet go back to eating heathly the next day! You will get there and see all the amazing things that you can do I went from 238 to 128 pounds pants from 24 to a 6. Im not embarrassed to go groceries anymore and think people are judging what's in my cart because I'm overweight.

    Well todays the day!

Thanks ladies it's quite an adjustment. There are people that don't recognize me. I guess it comes with the territory lol. As far as what I did, I used the band for guidance and ate healthy, drank water and exercised the whole time. My arms and thighs need some toning but I don't have too much extra skin. So now that I've hit my "goal" I'll be more focused on maintaining and doing some weight training instead of just running. I really wanted to start crossfit but I'm not sure yet. My knees have handled the 4 miles I run a day but adding the extra pressure on them worries me.

    A Dilemma

It sounds like you might be too tight. I had the same thing happen and I gave it a week and had him take out 1/4 of the 1/2 fill he did. It was much better and at perfect restriction.

    Wine

So I was a huge beer and wine drinker before I was banded. I actually can say I don't miss the drinking. Well last night we had an awards dinner to honor our fire department in town. My husband won 2 awards so I decided to have a celebratory glass of wine with the crew. Well I was going to go for a second glass and my stomach started burning. So I stuck with water. I took some tums before bed and woke up feeling the same burning. I took more tums and my Prevacid but the burning won't give up. I tried eating some cheese in hopes it would coat my stomach but again, nothing. I have had a couple glasses of wine since I've been banded but my stomach has never reacted like this before. Any advice on what to do? Or had anyone had this problem before?

    Wine

I just ate and feel so much better. I think the wine night have just irritated my stomach. It might have been a little swollen. No acid or burning now so hopefully that's what it was. The only time I had bad acid was when I was too tight. It's hard because I've had acid reflux my whole life. I have a hernia but they didn't fix it when I had my band put in so I think sometimes I aggrivated it.

    Wine

Thanks for your response. It seems a little better today but I haven't tried to eat yet. I def think it's irritated cause I woke up a couple times choking last night from the acid

    Melon and greens

When I first got into my "green zone" I couldn't eat salad. I missed it so much. So the other day I tried it again and now I am able to eat it. I have to be extremely careful and chew well. And the problem I had with watermelon and cantaloupe was when I would take a bit I would feel like I would have to swallow immediately because it was like eating and drinking at the same time. But as long as I would take a very small bite I would be ok. Hope this helps
  22. I've been pretty open to people around me about my surgery. My family, my close group of friends and my co workers. But I'm having a problem with other friends and people that I'm not close to asking "how I did it". I feel like I'm lying to them when I say, I count my calories and workout. It's not a lie because that's what I do but I leave out the part of having the band. How do you guys deal with it?
  23. rigonj

I feel like i'm lying to people!

My moms step mom was the same way towards me my whole life. As well as my mom. She doesn't remember now (she suffers from dementia) how mean she was to me growing up so now when she says I look great I just say thank you. I knew that people would be happy for me with my weight loss but I guess I never expected the negative feed back from "jealous" people. I actually had someone privately message me the other day telling me my glasses are too big for my face and the lipstick I wear is to dark and she's not trying to hurt my feeling but she "had" to tell me. She's quite a bit older than me and has kids only a couple years younger than me, I'm not sure what she has to be jealous about. I just thought it was extremely rude.
