    Driver's license, small victory

So funny! Just moved from UT to NV and got my license last week. This is the first time ever that my actual weight is less than what I gave! So glad you posted this thread. Congrats!
  3. I'm at one year this week. Size 22, over 200 pounds. Today I'm 137 lbs size 6. I got the band, followed the manual's guidelines for adjustments. 2 fills is all it took. I'm still worried weight will creep back up on me so I don't feel a success. Maybe at the 2 year mark I'll feel more secure about my weight...maybe it will be permanent weight loss?

Anyone up for a meet and greet this weekend?

Just checking in..... you guys go ahead. Have fun! Sunday isn't good for me. I'll catch you later. Btw, I'm new to Vegas....live over at Nellis. I have a map and can get around a bit, but am still learning. I've heard of Henderson...but have no clue where that is.

    Movie Snack?

Candy tends to go down easily...especially those you can suck on and let dissove in your mouth. Milk Duds Whoppers Peanut M&Ms etc. I've slimed up nachos, popcorn, sour patch kids. When I go to the movies now, I don't get anything. Not because of the band but costs. I told the kids that movies are out from now on OR we can go but get no Snacks.
  6. Sorry, I should have made that clear...the warranty is like most products.... only for defects. If there is a defect in the band or in the construction of the band. A pin hole....that's like tires. They will say it was a nail you ran over the day you purchased your tires. In the case of the band...they will say your surgeon punctured it.
  7. The manufacturer warranties the band....erosion falls under the warranty. Port flip is surgeon error band slip is surgeon error or patient error I wouldn't spend that kind of money on some so called insurance. Bet it would cost an arm and a leg to collect...so it won't be worth it.

What's your hardest habit to break?

No, I didn't. I got 2cc @ 6 weeks then .5 or .7 (don't remember) more 4 weeks later at 10 weeks 9.75/ 4cc band That's when I got restriction. And that lasted all the way to goal.

    best possible business meal

Good idea. I've not mastered eating in public yet. I carry a cup in my purse for ...well, you know. I tend to overeat while out.

I'd be up for it! Let's hit a buffet, those are my favorite.

What's your hardest habit to break?

Wasn't able to break that habit. But luckily, the band still worked for me. One year out and I still haven't broken any habits. I won't claim that til a year or so from now.

    Truth Please!!!

You want the truth? You can't handle the truth. I love that line from A Few Good Men. If you are going back and forth...that means you haven't commited yourself to doing it...so don't do it. But I can say that my experience is there is no food off limits. I live in the land of buffets, and I frequent them often. But long gone are the days of multiple plates piled high. I get 1 or 2 plates with a teaspoon of everything off the bar. Had a hotpocket calzone, chips, and sodapop for lunch yesterday. This morning was a banana nut muffin. Yesterday morning was Cocoa Pebbles. The day before I had a taco. Let me just say this...I'm one week in my new place and am still getting settled. Once I get settled in I'll start cooking again. Please feel free to ask me any questions either here or pm me. I was like you...no insurance, no money...but sick and tired of being fat and was ready to take action.

    spinning out of control HELP!

I paid for the band....so I let it do it's job. I was fat because I consumed to much food...plain and simple. The band has restricted the quantity of food I eat. Thus, I lost weight. No dieting, no exercise, no special foods/shakes/pills. Just common sense eating. I eat a whole lot better today than just one year ago. Yesterday I got hungry while out in town and passed McDonalds/BK/Wendys/Sonic/Arbys...yep, even Subway. Didn't stop and made lunch at home. Last year I would visit those places 2-4 times a day. Of course, lunch was a Calzone hot pocket, a few chips, and soda. But only 4 bites of the calzone, 3 chips, and well.....I had 2 sodas yesterday to fight off a migraine. But I usually drink Koolaid with splenda/sugar mix. Weightloss with the band isn't rocket science, and I lost weight by reducing the amount of food I eat.

do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?

Post fill diet? Never heard of such a thing. But I'm sure some doctors have created that for their patients. Ever had a filling or tooth pulled? You know how for a few hours or a day you shouldn't do this or have that? The band is the same thing. Just for a few hours or a day you should be careful with what you consume. For me, I didn't have any diet to follow. But I didn't eat anything hard that day.

    spinning out of control HELP!

luv2ride is right on! Why in the world are you dieting? Let the band do what you paid it to do.

    So mad I could spit!

My daughter says the same thing about my scales...she can weigh one day and be such and such but the next...or even later that day be off 10 pounds. But when I get on the scales, it's constant...no waivering but a pound or two throughout the day. Not that you don't know how to weigh yourself...you most certainly do...but a slight shift in your weight from one leg to another...or even a toe can throw the results off. I gain about 2-3 pounds in a week when I don't go to the bathroom. Get new scales...I have a digital one that you tap to turn on...then wait til it zeros out...then step on. Congrats on your weightloss...you are doing great!
  18. "I hear that once you start eating normal foods again that's when you gain back but I don't wanna!!! " You are on the right track, congrats!!! But I can say from personal experience (am on maintenance-had a hotpocket Calzone for lunch, sodapop, chips) that introducing normal foods will not cause weightgain. Going back to old eating habits will. I have struggled to find a balance of nutrition, food, normal food, etc. I've found, for me, eating the same foods (minus a few baddies I won't ever eat again) I did preop is not a problem. I just can't eat as much of it. For me, this is about modifying the quantity of food I eat. I'm a year out and I know the next year or so are crucial for me. Just thought I'd post to try to ease your mind. If you are hungry, eat! But it's all about choices. And the band is there to help.

my mom has lap band.. and she is in danger

Yes, agreed. She asked what she should do. She shouldn't play doctor. She shouldn't get stressed out. She shouldn't take it upon her shoulders. She should do what her instincts are telling her....ask her mom what she would like her to do. They've already had the conversation about getting to a doctor. The child has already expressed her feelings to her mom. We should support the parent and their ability to parent. Not give out advice. When a teen is in a crisis...we should encourage them to turn to their parents or a relative.

    considering lap band surgery

Hi, you've come to the right place for that! You'll find a wealth of info on here. Some great, some okay, and some bad. Me? I'm a textbook case. Had the band, got fills, got new clothes...the end.

    Atkins or South Beach Diet

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was on Atkins years back and got down to 1 pound less than I am now. (after went off- gainedi t all back then some) Those things you listed...it's called dieting. I went through it again while banded. I was even hostile....but I knew it was only for a time and would be over soon. Just sleep your way thru dieting as much as you can. Good luck!

    lapbandmexico

I can't speak for anyone else. For me, those commercials making viewers belive this lapband goes without hunger...I knew that was as fake as a 3 dollar bill! For me, I knew I was going to be hungry. I knew I was going to get ill, irritable, angry, hostile, lethargic, tired, fatigued, sleepy, depressed..... I've dieted before and those things just happen with me. Well, like I suspected, it did happen. And I was miserable. But I made the decision before I was banded...that a time and season of crap would produce the result I desired. Well, I exceeded my goal and couldn't be happier with the results.

    lapbandmexico

I was banded a year ago. I reached goal (150 lbs) earlier this year...but kept losing weight. I purchased all size 8/ small clothes. But it seems I still drop a pound every month or so. Now my 8s look baggy. Never thought I'd ever get to say that!

my mom has lap band.. and she is in danger

Wow! I re-read my post and didn't minimize it a bit. This is a child....don't scare her! She needs assurance that she is the child...her feelings are validated...and her mom is an adult...her mom will get to a doctor...all will be fine. She asked what could she do....she should take it easy...she's a kid. She should take the role of supporter...not adult...not doctor. She should support her mom and literally ask..."Mom, what would you like me to do?" or "Mom, I'm freaking out...what can I do to help you?"
