  1. Well I just confirmed my weight and paid my out of my pocket, so now it's all really 100% real! 88.7kg.. haven't been in the 80s for a while, I was 85kg 2 and a half years ago when I met my boyfriend lol
  2. Well that sucks! If they aren't going to help then it's probably best to look elsewhere. Hopefully some people from nz come along and see your post! Good luck with it all.
  3. I fully understand the reasoning behind Optifast for a preop diet. There's actually 17.8g of sugar per sachet so I'm not so sure about the sugar part but I know the amount of carbs is what helps the liver along. There's more sugar than Protein in the sachet, lol crazy but I guess if it wasn't there it would taste even more disgusting. 22.5g of carbs too, more than I would have thought, but hey it works. Thanks the offer of an alternative but I can't do anything at this stage but try and drink the most that I can. Only 7 more days of it anyway so all good.
  4. I'd rather a little port be visible than the huge fat stomach I have at the moment.
  5. I'm feeling better, I'm getting 1 to 1 and a half shakes down and a coffee!
  6. Surgery on the 29th. Yesterday I had a Soup and some fruit, the day before a 200g tub of low fat cottage cheese, and the first day nothing but Water. Today I'm going to try and force myself with the Optifast again.. I know it needs to be done, so many others do it and hate it. I can't see the dietician cos she'll just charge me another 120 for giving me a piece of paper, which I can't afford. So annoying and frustrating that this is only day 4 Maybe I'm just being a sook! I'm broke as a joke so all I have is the optifast, no choice there! I just spent 1600 on another course, 400 out of my savings and I have to pay for the surgery on Tuesday. I think that is so dumb, paying a week before? Leaving that money there the whole time to be picked at for months.. Why can't they just let you pay once it's been booked! ANYWAY, I'm just happy I got down to his requirement and that is in fact happening. As for teens LOL good luck!
  7. Hey Jessica, This is a Melbourne thread, we're all friendly! So feel free to introduce yourself there and have a bit of a read, www.bariatricpal.com/topic/306037-australia-melbourne/

    What to eat/drink

Or you could always just get your favourite yoghurt that meets your sugar intake and just add some water!

    July 2014 :)

I'm struggling with Optifast.. I was fine with it a few weeks ago but now my bodies like, no mate.. I'm not drinking that. Anyway, I'm down 12.5kg since I last saw my doc 2 months ago so.. I'm actually over the moon
  11. I'm not following it but in the opposite way.. I haven't had any shakes I've only been drinking water. I can't down the shakes or soups they smell disgusting and I can't even force myself to do it without feeling like vomiting. I had no problems doing them for a week a month ago, but now it's like my body is saying .. no, f u I won't do this again..
  12. congrats mick, how exciting I can't stomach Optifast, the smell is actually making me want to vomit and the taste is absolutely feral. I was drinking them a couple weeks ago with no problem at all, I actually liked the taste! Anyway, I'm down 12.5kg since I last saw my doc 2 months ago so.. I'm actually over the moon

I need a real lapband friend

Maybe you can get cocoa powder and mix it with greek yoghurt and some splenda? It gives you the chocolate taste but without all the calories, and there's heaps of protein in it too! (to kick the choc cravings)

    Generating Inspiration

Get your favourite piece from italy and put it somewhere you can see it everyday, maybe that could motivate you? Maybe a photo of yourself when you were wearing that piece too. I've been looking online a lot at all the clothes I could potentially wear. My wardrobe now is actually pretty hideous, it's all black, it's all baggy, it's all cheap and all ugly! I want a bright wardrobe, with things I can just literally throw on and leave the house. Life is full of crap, but life also has many beautiful things too. It's hard to get out of a negative state of mind. Once you see the weight start to drop a little, I'm sure you will be inspired.

    Day 1

I've lost 24lbs since my last visit with the surgeon which was about 2 and a half months ago. I'm on my preop diet now, day 3 out of 21(3weeks). I'm hoping to drop a few more pounds before I get my band on the 29th. I'm currently 205lbs, my surgeon wants me to be 202lbs by surgery date, so I'm confident that I'll get there and then some I've only told people close to me, my family, boyfriend and closest friend. No one else needs to know really.

    Good luck @@newme62633 !
  18. I'm on 3 shakes a day preop diet. Today was day 2 and I had an Optifast Soup and half a shake. Yesterday I had the soup, half a shake and about half an optifast pudding. I try to force myself to just keep drinking it but I can't do it. Will my body not go into ketosis because I'm not drinking enough?
  19. Yeah, you could be backed up? Have you been to the toilet? I did an optifast diet for just over a week about a month ago and at a week into the diet my stomach was hard and grumbling like crazy. I kid you not I almost pooped my pants in a shopping centre. A bit gross, but yes, explosive diarrhea!

    July 2014 :)

@@operation_newme It's just another Optifast diet! 3 shakes a day, or optifast Soups or bars. I got shakes and soups, I always find myself wanting warm food so Soup hit the spot last night. I got the optifast pudding too, not the best.. I prefer the shakes. But it's good to mix it up I guess. I couldn't finish the pudding and couldn't finish my last shake yesterday, but I didn't feel hungry all night so that's a good thing. I'll try harder today to force myself to finish it all. I'm taking vitagummies too, multi and fibre. Last time I did optifast for a week I got really backed up and almost exploded in a shopping centre, not good haha.

@@dford I'm so excited too, its 21 days now, soon it'll be 14, then 7 ... I check the date like 4 times a day and just obsess about it, it's pretty crazy hahaha. I started preop today(a week early) instead of the 15th

    July 2014 :)

@@fhawkins12 How was/is preop treating you? Your date is right around the corner! How exciting I've decided to start my preop a week early, well a week and two days to be precise. I was eating so well and dropping weight slowly but went back to old habits and may have gained a few pounds. So I figured an extra week of preop won't hurt and will help in the long run How is everyone going? It's already a week into July, it's crazy!
