  1. Oh wow! I hope she is well, 90% is great! Good luck with the job search, it's not easy but keep at it and you'll eventually get something!

  3. I'm getting the band, my aunty has it and it's done her wonders. It also worked for my mum when she had it done. There's a few people in the family that have bands and they're all happy with it. I just can't wait!!!
  4. I got the special price, the normal price $2,900 but that's still good! My surgeon is Dr. Zeev Duieb and he works through Masada hospital. I think his main office is in Berwick but I see him at the hospital in st kilda on Balaclava road. I'm pretty sure my mum has been referred to another surgeon for the revision but the same surgeon will do our lapband. She has to get the revision, heal and then get the band. Which kind of sucks but she won't be too far behind me I guess.
  5. I'm in the heart of Melbourne, living in Chinatown. I'll see my surgeon within the next couple of weeks to book the surgery and discuss the 7kgs that I have to lose, hopefully he will agree that most will drop with the preop diet I was in time for some "special" when I first saw my surgeon, a summer special or something because I saw him in January of this year. So my actual surgery will be $1,900 and the anaesthetist will be $500. My mums getting lapband at the same time as me but she has to get a revision done because she had a lapband done about 10 or so years ago but it wasn't adjustable. And I'm 20 I wish I could have had this done earlier but money was just out of the question. But I'm getting it soon so wooooo
  6. You will be soon enough! I'm going through greater eastern obesity with dr zeev duieb. For the 7 kilos I'm hoping to lose like 3 or 4 and then let the preop do the rest, even if it's a 5kg loss all up it should be good enough. I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure I'm 150cm tall, my bmi was 40 when I saw the surgeon last(I gained a kilo since I saw him haha the joys of life)
  7. Hey girls I'm from melbourne too! I'm seeing my surgeon soon to book a date, I just have to lose a few kilos before I see him so I'm gonna make the appointment mid June so I can hopefully drop some kilos. I just think it's crazy that some surgeons want you to lose weight, I mean the whole problem is that I can't lose weight otherwise I wouldn't be getting surgery!! I'm 100kg and have to lose 7 before the surgery. How much did you guys lose on the preop? My PHI ticks over on the 22nd of July so hopefully I can be booked in for the 23rd
  8. I'm on the same boat, I have to lose 15lbs before surgery but managed to gain 2lbs instead! My surgery isn't until mid July so I still have time to lose some weight, the pre op diet will help shed some of it too!

    Do any of you...

I wouldn't be here if I could do it alone haha
  10. Hey I'm 20, living in Melbourne. My PHI ticks over on the 22nd of July so I'm hoping to get banded as close to that date as possible. I'm seeing my surgeon, Zeev Duieb, soon to confirm the date. I'm just here to introduce myself and welcome anyone else in Melbourne that will need a lapband buddy at around the time of my surgery! I've done all my pre-op appointments(blood tests, physician, dietician and psychologist) if you have any concerns or questions about those appointments I'm to happy to answer

    New person welcome?

My first consult is on the 16th of Jan I should be getting surgery around late July to Early August, I'm excited!
  12. Hi, my mother and I have decided to go ahead with getting the lap band surgery. Our health insurance requires a one year waiting period until we can get the surgery, which means it can be done July 2014. Now my question is, how long do all the pre op appointments take to get done? My mum wants to start them all in Jan 2014 so it's just "6 months and it's all over", but I'm thinking maybe getting the appointments over and done with sooner rather later would be the smarter option because you can't be approved until all the appointments are done right? I'd hate to wait until January and get them all done by July only to be approved and have to wait even longer for a surgery date to be set!
  13. Well good luck to everybody! I'm excited, and thank you!
  14. The insurance policy we were on didn't cover lap band surgery, so we had to upgrade the insurance, and it's one year from that day until the lap band is covered.. If that makes more sense. My mum already went to one appointment and soon they want to do blood tests, I'm pretty sure the doctor told her that we can do all the appointments before the one year and that he would book us in for surgery on the exact day that the insurance wait is over. I'll just speak with my mum and tell her to get everything organised for me now I guess. Better safe than sorry, I'm just excited! Also, I'm in Australia if that makes any difference.. Insurance varies everywhere.
