  1. So I was proactive in starting my liquid diet two days early, with today being day one. My Pre-op isn't until tomorrow (1/28/14)......It's not as bad as I thought. If anything I'm having trouble trying to consume the daily intake of the list provided to me by my nutritionist. Either that or I've completely wrapped my head around the whole idea of my lifestyle change. :)

My new mantra is: Nothing tastes as good as I want to feel and look.

    Thanks for letting rant. Lol

  2. Starfish, it's good to see you posting, again! :D I'm so glad that everything is going along your way and you have your surgery date and all is set to go at last. Yay! I'm so happy for you and I hope that we see more of you around here, again. :D

Yes The Icy One I will continue to be a part of my WL Family. I'm super excited and will keep you all posted. Thanks for the love !! :-)

  3. Well, I'm over 1/3 the way on the pre op diet! It did get easier after the first few days...but 3 weeks of Opti fast is a long time! The scales moved fast at first and now, not so fast. Surgery is February 6. Excited, worried I won't be successful over he long haul, and ready for this new journey, all at the same time! My surgery is in Tampa.

You'll do fine. During my hiatus from ANY forum was to get my head right on what I had to do to be successful. It's all mental I've come to realize the lap band (for me) is a "halt" tool. Stop eating so dang much! Lol. I can't wait until my date! Congrats again. You'll be successful.

  4. Hi everyone, I've been off for awhile just going through life, thinking and attending my nutritional visits. Well my last nutritional visit was Jan. 10th. I got my approval on Jan. 22. Yaaaayyy!!! My preop is Jan. 28 and my surgery is scheduled for Feb. 19!! I'm excited, sooo excited. I start my two week liquid diet on Jan. 28. My darling Hubby went to SAMs Club and purchased everything I needed. (So sweet)

I can say that I've stayed away from any Weight Loss forums just because I needed to take time and wrap my brain around "MY" journey. I didn't want to get caught up on "well, that's not what so and so went through." I needed this to be 100% my choice based on how I'm feeling about myself.

Please make sure that this surgery or any other surgery is for YOU and no one else!

Again though I'm super excited and I promise I will be here updating regularly.

    Love , peace and Blessings,

  5. Excellent! You are one step closer all the time....nice that you have the reassurance of competent medical staff, good environment, etc. Kind of a trial run!

I didn't have an EGD but I did have a hiatal hernia which was repaired in my LB surgery -- they found it when they got in there.

Thanks Bandista. I guess he didn't want any surprises once he gets in there. Lol!

  6. Had My EGD today because my surgeon wanted to rule out a hiatal hernia. I was very anxious but the staff made me so comfortable. This will be the same staff that will be prepping new for my Band in January (upon approval. ????)

So I'm really okay now anaesthesia wise and am ready to go!! BTW no word on the hernia until 11/22/13.

  7. You all have made some awesome statements. I felt the same way about Skymoon and her band. It seemed as though she teeter tottered about it being her fault and not being her fault. Nonetheless I just don't want any slippage.

How can anyone one vomit like that? ???? I hare being nauseous let alone having it "come up"! Whew!!

There are a few people I like on YouTube such as bandedwendy and lbjnieka and anume. They (so far) have been successful with no slippage.

I am thinking about starting my own vlog. Wanna be a pillar in the WLS surgery community. ????

  8. I'm with Autumn2013. I also have Tricare Prime and am in my first month of supervised food journaling.

Now my only question to you is are you having the surgery at an Army Hospital (I'm pretty sure or you wouldn't be using Tricare) if that's the case the patient advocate should have a road map of what to and he/she is the expert on what insurance companies require.

If the answer is no and you're planning on having it done at the German Krankenhaus then I might be inclined to say they may not cover it.

    I hope this helps.

  9. Thank you Mis73 & NaNa! I feel better. I vowed to stay away from the negative and she was (skymoon) wasn't until the recent video. But you two are right you can't abuse the band. You have to use it as the tool that it was meant to be.

I've seen and read tons of success and I want to be part of that success.

    Thanks again.

  10. Have been following some YouTube videos and one in particular has made me nervous. Skymoon1982 just recently posted she has her band removed after 4 1/2 years. She started vomiting and carrying on. She says she doesn't know why this happened. I'm a bit skeptical at hat rationale.

Can someone ease my worry ? No time for back tracking now. Thanks!

  11. keep thinking/being positive...its great you got a hub to help you...i know i would not have had it as well as i have without mine...One of the most rewarding days on your journey will be the day you look back at today and say' date=' “That used to be so hard, now it’s a piece of cake.”[/quote']

Thank you! I really want this to go well and I can't wait!! :-))

  13. HI I AM 39 YRS OLD . I WEIGH ABOUT 279 POUNDS AM 5 FEET 5. I DECIDED TO HAVE THIS LAPBAND CAUSE I HAVE TRY EVERYTHING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND I JUST CANT. i WENT TO MY SEMINAR IN OCTOBER. i HAVE MY FIRST CONSULATION ON FRIDAY NOV 8' date=' 2013. i WOULD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN DURING THIS VISIT? Anyone out there could tell me what happens?[/quote']

Good morning and welcome. I just had mine yesterday. You'll weigh in and get all of your stats and I mean ALL of them. You'll meet the surgeon and he'll ask you a few questions. Then you'll meet with the dietician. Be honest about your eating habits. He/she is going to have you start a food journal (at least mine did) that I have to turn in at my next visit. From there you'll see your patient advocate after you take some before pictures. I received my "road map" of my insurance requirements which aren't much. I have 3 more visits with the dietician, see the psychiatrist in between and that's about it.

    I hope this helped. Lol.

  14. Had my first evaluation today. Saw the dietician and the patient advocate. Starting tomorrow I have to journal everything I eat and drink. I have 2 more visits with the dietician and I'll get my surgery date! I'm looking to be banded at the end of January. By the way I have to have a EJD on 11/13 to see how big my hiatal hernia is. (Didn't know I had one) anyway Darling Hubby is with me every step of the way. I can't believe how fast this is going to go!
