  1. I went in for surgery around 8:30am and went home a little after 2pm. I didn't have a hernia and my surgeon said my liver looked great (yay for not eating for 10 days!). The gas pain was really intense in my back and it took me awhile to get comfortable. The throat was also a little scratchy and dry. I have been walking around some, but mostly resting. These pain meds make me so tired. I have some pain in my stomach around my incisions. I am really hungry but I am not supposed to have anything but Clear Liquids until tomorrow afternoon by the medicine cap full. I appreciate all of the supportive comments! The only person in my life who knows about me having surgery today is my husband (and you all!).

Day 2 & 3 will get better. Sip, sip, SIP Water. It's important to stay hydrated. Move as much as you can within reason to move that gas. Remember you had an invasion to your insides. Rest and heal. Welcome to band land.

  2. Glad to hear surgery went well. I had to stay overnight at the hospital and when they brought me each meal I had tea, cranberry juice, apple juice, Popsicles, and always had 2 things of Jello on my tray. The nurses made sure I was tasting everything and made sure I was drinking all the time. We don't want you passing out so drink drink drink lol

Yeah my husband discovered my dehydration because when I got home I slept so long. Not drinking. But please know that I'm drinking now!!!

  3. Laying on your left side with your knees bent and drawn up to your chest with a warm blanket between your knees will help move the gas. I always had my GI patients do that to dispel the gas after a colonoscopy and it never failed. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Valerie KK, I actually was able to lie in recliner with my knees up. I was able to expel some gas. Never been so excited to pass gas!! Lol!

  4. Hi. My band is due this Friday 21 February, first one in apparently , not sure if this is me, mistake or what ?

andy1, only you know if this is for you. You've come this far. Why back out now? We all have fears and the what Ifs. I think you'll do well. This is for the betterment of your life. I am sending this to you from my hospital bed preparing for my lapband. So.... I'm here.... I expect to see a post from you on Friday morning. Good luck. :-)

  5. Gosh Pretty Thick1, I don't think a loss of 74 pounds is mediocre. Don't jump to conclusions too fast. Are you doing that well? Slow loss is best as it stays off, and as years go by that will be important! Bless you young banders and I wish you good health.

Uh oh....no shade throwing. That was a mean little jab. I don't think pretty thick 1 meant it that way. What she was trying to say was is that someone who has had mediocre weight loss results in a 2 year period of time really doesn't have room to give advice. And considering how rude she was to me in the waiting room I concur with Pretty thick 1's statement. And to answer the question for pretty thick 1, has she done well........she has done VERY WELL.

  6. Look here baby... (in my big mama voice) you made a decision that will affect the rest of your life in a positive way. You are going to be one Sexy Chicky and she's still gonna be a fat lonely piggy. I say that in the mean spirited way she said what she said to you. On the plus side maybe you'll be the vessel to send her on way to healthyville.

Stay up honey and know at your tender age of 26.....everyone is not your friend.

    Good luck.

  7. How about you just don't use the term "colored" anymore unless speaking about a box of crayons. If you'd said "colored" in my presence there would have repercussions and consequences. However you are right about black folk being a target.

Now... Back to the matter of the cush. I won't smoke it now or after my surgey because the inhale process tends to make me gassy . Maybe again when im 6 months post op.

  8. I found for me that the EAS shakes don't seem to keep me full. I buy the the Protein vials from Walmart, they are flavored in watermelon, fruit punch and grape. I use low fat yogurt, frozen fruit and one of those vials which has 42GM of protein (the same as EAS ) , that seems to keep me fuller longer. Maybe it's the powder, milky protein that's making you nauseous.
