  1. Got my pre-surgery packet in the mail today. A bunch of forms to sign regarding the surgery to send back in, and my pre-op instructions. List of medications they ask not to take before, such as aspirin, diet meds, etc. (just generic info on meds for all patients, I'm not on diet meds or anything). I have a 2 day surgery bowel prep. Clear Liquids only day 1 & 2, additionally on day 2 I have to drink 1 bottle of magnesium citrate. They included a prescription for Arixtra injections, and want me to take it to my local pharmacy to have it filled so that it will be ready to pick up after surgery. I guess the pharmacy has to order it. The injections are to keep blood clots from forming. They will set me up with a home health agency that will instruct me post op to provide education on how to administer injections.

  2. Thanks, I am sure I am worrying over nothing (I ALWAYS do!). Did you get your surgery date moved up?

First sorry for the two replies! Darn phone :/

When I had mine they make you blow into a machine to get the base reading then they have you do a couple jumping jacks and/or stretching (reach down towards toes) then they have you blow into the machine again. That was it for me. I don't know what others have had to do.

  3. I'm just not sure what all they will be doing tomorrow, and the fact that I'm still smoking (won't smoke in the morning though). I really plan on quitting...SOON! I had read reviews that the Dr. will not do the surgery on people who still smoke! When I went in for my consult, they asked and I said I had quit 2 weeks prior (which was true at the time, but fell off the wagon). Funny though, when I had my consult with the dr, he didn't even mention smoking. I have everything lined up with time off work, etc., so I don't want any last minute suprises!

  4. My surgery is set for Nov. 7th. I have had doubts too, but in the end I know it will be the best thing I could ever do! Looking forward to sharing my experience with you and other November's! I have my pulmonary testing tomorrow morning!

I am looking for a November 'banding buddy' or buddies. My surgery is Nov.22. I would of liked to do it sooner (dont we all) but my surgon is on vacation. I am not nervious about the surgery. I am scared of losing my best friend-food. I have already come up with a plan for Thanksgiving, and how I am going to avoid going to my family's house. Besides ,my husband, everyone thinks I am having heital hernia surgery. I feel really guilty not telling them what I am doing, but I learned my lesson at the beginning of my journey, when I mentioned I was looking into weigh loss surgery. That is why I am coming here. I do need support. I am noticing that I am doubting my decission. Does anyone feel or have felt this way?

  5. I wish I could get my surgery(nov14) moved up also! The person that submits and schedules is out until Wednesday. I am going to try and get mine moved up also!

Same here only a select few know about the surgery everyone else will be under the impression I'm having a hernia repair :)

I hope you can! If I tell my mom any kind of surgery, she will freak and want to be with me. LOL Keeping it on the down-low and when pressed about what I eat, I will say I am watching what I eat (no lie there!) Good luck to you!

  6. Called today and got my surgery moved up a week to Nov. 7th!! I wanted it earlier because of Thanksgiving. Not that I plan to indulge, I just didn't wanted more time to adjust to my band before being around family and a huge food spread. I am not planning on telling anyone about the surgery except my husband, who already knows. I go for pulmonary testing this week, and if no issues from that I am good to go!

  7. Hi. New here to the forum. I am scheduled for surgery on Nov. 15th. I still have to have pre admission pulmonary testing. I have that next week. I just had my cardiac testing and received clearance on that. Nervous and excited at the same time. I will be looking through the board topics for advice!
