I am going to have my first fill Tuesday. I was banded Jan. 27, 2014 but had to go out of town so this is my first fill. Very nervous. I have read real horror stories. I can eat most things w/o any problems as long as I chew (I call it grazing). If I get into a hurry or try to take too big a bite, I really hurt. I'm almost glad that my body punishes me for being forgetful. I have lost a total of 25 pounds. I am very happy to be a part of the band club.

My diet is similar to yours. Breakfast is oatmeal with lotss of milk, (skim) a Protein shake, which I keep in the car, tuna lunch and dinner. Snacks are fresh fruit, cherry tomatoes, or a handful of pistachios, grapefruit slices, etc. good food. I do go out to eat several times a week. I order fish, scallops, meatloaf, etc. Oh,I am so proud of myself, never touch the bread they serve. I'm stuck on 10 to 12 pound loss.

christinenicole, I'm having the exact same problems as you. One day I eat a salad with no problems, next day same food and I'm stuck. Am also stuck in weight loss..why? I am controlling the quality of food I eat but not the quantity..I thought the band would do that. I am 2 1/2 months out of surgery. Getting annoyed. I know I am ready for a fill.

Hi Sweetness, I had an appointment for this Friday, But I had to change it until next month, due to traveling duties. I hated to postpone but it is what it is. Am really looking forward to a fill.

I feel I am following the diets, for the most part, but since I am eating quality foods I need more help with tge quanity from my band. Can't wait for a fill. (I lost 10 lbs pre surgery)

I didn't mean you have to be around your family..some of our loved ones can be to septic to our well being. Love them from a distance. Sounds like you mom has some real problems of her own. God bless you both.

I think you love your relatives IN SPITE OF THEMSELVES. We don't choose them. Good luck and wear ear plugs.

I agree with you. Your decisions are life altering. My decision was also based on Health. I have had one hip and knee replacement. I have been told I need the other hip and knee replaced plus I have two herniated disks. I may not look that big but I did qualify for the surgery and my skelatal system is thanking me for it every day. I can't wait to to get near my goal. I was banded in Feb. 2014. I have a long journey. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi, I am 70and was banded Jan. 27 this year. I have no regrets. I have lost approx. 12 lbs. and do not feel deprived. I do keep a Protein Drink in my car and sometimes in my purse, just in case I am really hungry or tempted. Good luck to you..I think age has a benefit in bariactrics We know this is our last chance to get some real help in braking bad eating habits. Have a great healthy life. You have just added 15 years to your retirement.

Congrats to you. I have a question about the biomedical research center you went to. Do they have these centers in all states? Can you supply me with the address of yours? I think it might save a friends life. I was banded Jan. 27, 2014 and really am inspired by you and others who share their success stories. Thanks for sharing.

Hi youngsters, I am 70 and was banded Jan. 27, 2014, I am so excited to begin a new journey, a healthier one. I grew up with the advertiz. "nothin' says lovin' than somethin' from the oven and Pilsbarry says it best". My new motto is I control the quantity and my new best friend the band, controls the quantity. (Oh, I have lost 7 lbs the first week)
We are getting better!

All is well. I spent one night in hosp, No gas pains in shoulder, but I did get the dry heaves every time I got up. Not much pain, just some discomfort where the sutures were made. So glad to be on this side of surgery. Good Luck all you March Banders.

Hi, Had my band 6 days ago. It was uneventful except I had a UTI the week before surgery and had to get up every2 hours to urinate..each time I would get the dry heaves..yuk.. The rest was pretty easy. My main complaint is I am hungry! I'm not sure if I had a fill. No gas pains just a little discomfort from the surgery.
Do you generally have a fill during surgery?
Oh, by the way, I am 70.

Hi all, I was banded on Jan. 27, 2014. Almost a week, and I am starving. I'm healing well. Never had the shoulder pain but did have dry heaves at the hospital.
I am so happy to be on this side of the surgery and looking forward to a healthy life and diet.

Today's the day..I'm ready to leave for the hospital..am I nervous? Hell yes. But, I can't wait to be on a new and healthier journey. Talk to you later.
How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?

We go out to eat a lot. I really don't worry. I can find always find something even if I have to remove the bread from a sandwich. appetizers are almost always a source of food. I usually find fish or something that is full of Protein, Soups, and salads are almost a great selection. I haven't lost a great deal of weight but I have lost inches. Pants are from a 22 to an 18. Total weight loss from the begging visit is 25 lb. but only 5 of that is since my surgery. Inches are since my surgery. I can wear a much smaller blouse maybe even a regular large size (haven't tried but sales people think I can). I can't wait to get out of the "big and beautiful" sizes. Am really glad I am a banded.
