  1. I'm getting really nervous now. My date is first thing Wednesday morning! I have lost 5 lbs so far in pre-op mode, so now I question myself "If I can do it now, why should I go forward with surgery". But, I have always been able to lose weight, I just can't keep it off. So, my hopes are that I will be reminded on a daily basis to eat correctly.

I go tomorrow for pre-op. Wish me luck :)

Good luck! I went through my pre op on the 6th, it was a very busy day!

  2. Hey

I'm getting ready to have the procedure done literally ..... Within the next hour, I'll be a banded individual... Am anxious scared and excited as I'm seating on the hospital bed.... Just think by the end of today it will be over..... Please pray for me as I'm about to take this operation,..

I'll keep you all posted... Fingers crossed

Very excited for you and praying for you while your in.!!! Stay safe and dream happy thoughts!!!

  3. Loving the positivity on this thread. Just think come February we'll all be banded and hearing all those pounds and kilos drop off each other.

How often is everyone planning on weighing themselves? I was going to go with once a week or at my dr appointment. Last time I lost a tonne of weight I got a wee bit obsessed with the scales and I don't want that to happen again. Also still trying to figure out my final goal. Do you have yours?

I'm so happy that this is working out for everyone!! Really I can't wait to get mine! Blast them for canceling lol. Still hoping for the 21st as my redo date!

I see my regular dietitian every two weeks and will be getting weighed then, and at every doc apt. I have to be careful because I get a little obsessed with the scales too, I really hope that doesn't happen again after surgery. :-s

I do have a final goal but for some reason I really find it hard to admit. Like because this is the net I can get away with being a smaller weight, when in reality I'm still all fat and gross :((. But I plan on being truthful and anyone that tracks my weight loss should be able to tell what I started at. I have confidence that once I get down to my goal I'm going to have the self esteem I need to say lots of things I can't right now!

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm a 41 year old man being banded on January 27th. I'm excited to begin my new life, but nervous at the same time that it won't work for me. I have had trouble with my weight my entire life and nothing has seemed to work in the long term. In choosing the band, I liked the fact that if for some reason I fell off the wagon my doctor could tighten me up and we could start over again.

If you go into it with a negative point of view nothing is going to work for you think positive!!! You can do this!!! Have faith this is going to be the last thing you are ever going to have to do to control your weight! Use your tools and stay patient! Fallow the rules and stay calm!!! You can def do this I believe in you!!!

  5. Good luck slinkie! You'll be fine, although I never really believed it myself before hand. Just woke up after an epic 10 hour sleep again, could do with some more to be honest. Looking forward to some yoghurt later as I really haven't been managing many calories during the day. Am going to start formulating a soft food/mushies menu for next week. That should keep me entertained today!

Thank you! I really do hope that your menu planning takes you somewhere fun and exciting today!

  6. Hi everyone. Am back and feel a bit like I've been through the ringer but two days out and feeling much bettrr already. One day at a time and am looking forward to some yoghurt and milk from tomorrow onwards.

I was so nervous going in but will be glad in the end I did it. One top tip is a hot Water bottle for the gas pains, they can be quite painful and the heat is really soothing xx

So good to hear from you desertpixie! Glad your ok!! Now it's my turn!!

  7. Make sure you have a heating pad ready for any possible gas in your body. It helps alleviate any gas discomforts. The surgery itself was a piece of cake for me. I drove my car the next day and attended a Weight reduction meeting at my local hospital. I had very little discomfort. Pain liquids were prescribed but I wasn't affected. Remeber to SIP the Water and NO straw. (causes you to suck air bubbles).

Best wishes and Keep the Faith

    Thanks for the tips

  8. 2 weeks until surgery! Getting excited (and nervous) and really thinking about all of the changes that lie ahead in this new year. Ready to transform my body and mind and to ultimately become a better version of myself. I know that it is going to be a lot of hard work, but I feel like with the band as a tool, I will finally succeed at keeping the weight off this time! Happy New Year/ Happy New YOU!!

Right on!!!!! Yay!!!! Congrats on the two week countdown! The new you is going to be fantastical!!

  9. 118 lb weight loss in 7 months?!?!?! Congrats to you - what's your secret?

My dr told me to cut my calories down to 1200 a day, walk my tushy off, drink lots of Water, no sugars, smaller portions, and I started to drink a Protein Drink where on two days a week I would have two shakes a day and one meal. At first I felt like I was hungry all the time, but then I started to notice that I wasn't so hungry as tired. I made sure I got in my 7 hours a night and I started feeling really energized! My dr also advised that I quit smoking even though I only smoked 4 cigs a day. My quit day for smoking was 11/03/13. That has been helping me with energy! Hopefully soon it won't be so hard to move around but thankfully it is easier to breath!
