January's Eatery and Exercise Journal.... Come One Come All!!
StartingOver replied to NJChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, I'm going to take a shot at this too. While my focus right now is not weight loss due to my pregnancy, I don't want to gain too much weight either. In the past month I've put on about 9lbs (had my band loosened 2 months ago). And while I realize that it's for a very good cause, it really is too early in my pregnancy to be putting on that much weight. Here's how I've done today. B: yogurt (7am) S: 1/2 c oatmeal with brown sugar (10am and I'm starving!) 1 banana L: salad (baby spinach, hard-boiled egg, cheese, bleu cheese dressing, sunflower seeds) 1 C clam chowder S: 3 Cookies (2 oatmeal cranberry and 1 peanut butter) D: 4oz t-bone steak string Beans mashed potatoes *before bed I ate some low fat vanilla ice cream. -
Help me pick a goal weight please???
StartingOver replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that 170-190 would be a decent range. You can always change your goal as you get closer to it and see how your body looks. -
Ladies you all look gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing Vines.

You ladies are truely beautiful. Love the new avatars!

I am a bit disturbed seeing some of the items that the other bidders have bought in the past. I guess buying surgical tools or equipment that can be sterilized is not really that big of a deal, but what kind of medical facility really buys it's supplies on E-bay? Makes me wonder where my band came from.....

When will you find out about your chances at being on The Biggest Loser? Is it possible to postpone making your reservations for France until after you know you make it on the show or not??? Or can you buy a refundable ticket just in case? Good luck whatever you choose to do, both sound like very exciting adventures.

Pregnant and banded weight gain???
StartingOver posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Any of you out there who have gone through a pregnancy while banded, I'm curious as to how much weight you gained during the pregnancy and if you were able to take it off post partum. I am only 13 weeks along, and haven't gained anything. It is very difficult on my psychologically not losing weight at this point, even though this is definately not the time for weightloss! I continue to monitor the scale, in a slightly less obsessive manner than pre-pregnancy. I understand that I'm going to gain weight, or at least just stop losing, either of which my OB/GYN is fine with, but I had no idea it would mess with me mentally. I find myself physically hungry pretty much all the time, thanks in part to the pregnancy and to the slight unfill (food doesn't stay in the band as long) I had as a precautionary measure related to the pregnancy. It's very bizzare after 9 months of being satisfied by Protein shakes for Breakfast and only a few small meals a day to now having my stomach growling the minute I wake up, and even sometimes waking me up! Obviously I am eating more now-hence the stop in weight loss (which is pregnancy appropriate), however I worry that I am eating too much, and struggling with the thoughts of seeing 240 or 250 or more on the scale again. -

Did you do a barium swallow after surgery?
StartingOver replied to Anwyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I stayed overnight in the hospital. Not sure if it was cheaper for the doctor than the hotel, or if there was a medical reason his patients stay overnight. My surgery was in Mexico. -

Welcome. You're sure to find a ton of useful information and support here. -
I am definately in! I have been eating (all the wrong food) uncontollably lately and blaming it on the pregnancy. I also haven't been exercising. I want to keep my pregnancy weight gain to a minimum and be physically healthy for the pregnancy and beyond. 2006 here I come!!!

Do you have a New Years resolution?????
StartingOver replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My resolution is definately to get more exercise and eat healthier. Most importantly, I want to be a better mom and spend more time with my son. I've just been so exausted with this pregnancy and working way too many hours and we haven't spent much time together lately. -

How often will you use the Chat room ?
StartingOver replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would love to have scheduled chat times, either regarding general band and life stuff, or scheduled topics. I'd participate at least once a week. -
Lisa, I am so sorry that you have gone through sooo very much with your band. My thoughts are with you for a speedy and safe recovery.

I'm 9 months post op and 13 weeks pregnant. So far so good. I have had some fill taken out just to ease my mind that I am getting enough nutrition. The first 10 weeks I didn't know I was pregnant and I lost about 20lbs. Now I try to sneak in an extra snack or small meal, take my vitamins, and drink plenty of water. I'm looking forward to a healthy pregnancy.

banded 7/12--and yesterday discovered I am pregnant
StartingOver replied to shrinazaldivar's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Shrina, That's great news! Congratulations on your pregnancy. I was banded in March 2005 and still have quite a bit of weight to lose, and I too am expecting a little one. My husband and I tried for almost a year before I was banded, then decided we'd wait so I could take my band journey. I am 13 weeks now, and for the first 10 weeks I'd say I lost about 20lbs (I didn't know I was pregnant). Now I've had my doc take some fill out of the band and I am neither gaining nor losing weight. I'm really watching what I eat and getting in plenty of exercise and Water. I have to admit that I am worried about gaining weight, even though it is normal for pregnancy, I've just been in weight loss mode for so long now that seeing the scale not moving kindof irritates me, but I know it's for a good reason. Congrats again! Feel free to contact me if you want to compare notes! -
That is great Keri! Congrats!

I am very excited to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child! I found out today for certain that I am pregnant and am due in the beginning of July. While I am very excited by this news I do have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that I am still so far away from my goal weight. I really wanted to be a normal, healthy weight for pregnancy, and I want to look pregnant, not just fatter! Nontheless, this is joyous and surprising news!
