Dr. Kuri
I had surgery with Dr Kuri as well ... haven't had any complications whatsoever. I've been back down to TJ a few times for fills, just went back yesterday for a little unfill. Dr Kuri is the nicest, most caring doctor I've ever come across so to those who already have surgery scheduled with him, know that you'll be in good hands while you're down there! Best of luck to each of you!

This sounds like me! Hope you're better soon salsa! Well my fill is just about killing me. Yesterday I was tight in the morning, loose in the afternoon (I actually ate solid food! :biggrin1:) then tight again in the evening ... today it's been tight all day (I've PB'd 3 times) and can't get anything thicker than broth to stay down sooo I called my doc in TJ and going back down there tomorrow for an unfill. I certainly hope they don't unfill me completely ... I imagine they'll just take .1 or .2 out since I only received .3 at my fill last weekend. I was irked to find out I have to pay another $100 for fluoro and you can bet I'll be raising hell about that tomorrow! It'll be nice to finally EAT and go back to drinking COLD water instead of icky room temperature stuff tho.

Can't we all just get along?

Beware of BElighter!!! No kidding.
Yes ... please please PLEASE do your own research on doctors instead of relying on people's posts here. Check out the "Doctors & Hospitals" forum here on LBT ... in there is a wonderful thread on how to successfully research Mexico Lap Band surgeons. Best of luck on your journey!

Mexico ?
I joined and posted for the first time here on LBT about 4 days before my scheduled banding. I posted an intro and mentioned that I was to be banded by Dr Kuri in TJ. Within minutes I received a PM from someone who proceeded to tell me she had thought of going to Dr Kuri but she was given some negative info about him so she decided to go with another doctor in Colorado instead, and of course she proceeded to give me the info about her doctor telling me his rates were as good as the rates in MX blah blah blah .... I was very disturbed by this ... I couldn't believe someone could stoop to that level. I had researched Dr Kuri for a year, I had talked to other patients of his and I knew he had a very GOOD reputation. To say ridiculous things like that to someone 4 days out from banding is absolutely rude and uncalled for. Anyone in their right mind knows to do the research before going out of the country for a surgical procedure ... which I did. I have had success so far with my band and I am not posting this to advertise my doc ... but I just wanted to add to what Wasa has been saying all along ... DO YOUR RESEARCH and don't rely on what any random person says in a forum.

OK OK ... the bat wing glory is all yours :biggrin1:- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
My doc requires liquids for the remainder of the fill day then mushies the next day ... I usually stay on liquids for a few days anyway just to give myself time to adjust. I had a hard time earlier this evening ... took well over an hour just to drink a 16oz bottle of water ... and then my dinner (blended chili w/ water to make it thin) wasn't wanting to go down either. If things don't improve by tomorrow I'm going back for an unfill because this is just too uncomfortable. It's not so much the inconvenience of not being able to eat but it's the excrutiating pain and tightness in the chest ... geez you'd think I tried to eat a hamburger or something as much as it hurts ... I live in Menifee which is in Riverside County just north of the Murrieta/Temecula area.- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Hello Lucky7's! I got my 3rd fill over the weekend ... .3cc to give me a total of 2.6cc. I did good with the barium swallow afterwards ... went out for lunch and had some soup and also had soup that evening for dinner and everything was fine. Then yesterday morning I woke up and had this massive tightness in my chest. I couldn't drink my morning protein shake as usual ... I could barely get water down! I figured it could be swelling and things would be OK in a couple days ... last thing I wanted was to go all the way back to TJ for an unfill. So yesterday I had nothing but water & broth and today while I am still a bit tight, I've been able to consume thicker soups. Sure was scary for a bit yesterday though! That Thermage skin tightening system was interesting to read about ... something I might consider. I'm starting to grow bat wings :faint:- What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
I got .3cc today and now have a total of 2.6cc in my band. I am feelin' the restriction so far with just liquids/water :whoo:- I hate it when people post just to post.....
Like totally- Thread Killers
I hopped back on the bandwagon ... all is good :biggrin1:- I hate it when people post just to post.....
Ewwww ... fish is gross! Seafood makes me gag :biggrin1:- Thick Liguid help
Throw some chili in the blender, might need to add a bit of water to thin it out ... then heat it in the microwave for a minute or so.- tracking calories?...help
I didn't know I could change it ... I'll have to figure out how Thanks you two! :biggrin1:- had my first "stuck" experience today...
Just wait it out and either the food will go through and the pain goes away ... or it all comes back up. Whatever you do, don't drink anything because as you said, it only makes it worse! I made that mistake the first time I experienced "stuckage"- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Pizza sounds yummy! :hungry: Don't be so hard on yourself Jackie! I had 2 pieces of birthday cake on Monday, and another on Tuesday ... like you I was beating myself up over it. I was feelin' guilty and ashamed of the fact that the cake (along with some Halloween candy) made me gain. But the wonderful thing about the band is we can still enjoy the foods we like, just in moderation. If the pizza went down with no problems I wouldn't worry too much ... at least you didn't PB and damage your band. You know and recognize the fact that you're due for a fill and you're getting it Monday ... You are not failing! We're all entitled to some food outbursts once in awhile.- Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
