  1. I'm 34 and live in southern California ... I'm also married and have 4 kids (all boys!) I was banded 7/28/07 and I've lost 60+ lbs since my surgery, a total of 80+ lbs since my highest weight in February of last year. :biggrin1:
  2. Breakfast ~ SBD cinnamon raisin cereal bar Lunch ~ 1 breaded beef patty & 1/2 C cottage cheese Snack ~ 1 hard boiled egg Dinner ~ 2oz grilled chicken & 1/2 C pepper stir-fry Snack ~ 1oz cashews
  3. So weird how it works like that! I definitely don't do strict atkins but like you, I eat mainly protein and try to keep the carb intake at 50 or less ... They went out in yesterday's trash ... what on earth was Grandma thinking to give us a gift bag full of truffles & cashews for Christmas??! OK yeah I know, it wasn't her fault ... I take full responsibility for answering them when they were calling my name ... What an ordeal! So sorry you went through all that! Glad it was caught on time and you're on the mend. CONGRATS! :clap2: Both! For me, each fill has been like a fresh new start ... like surgery all over again, except with a different starting weight. I lived up in Everett for 5 years ... my oldest son is a huge Seahawk fan and they are my #2 favorite team. Quite a scare in the 4th quarter ... glad they were able to re-gain the lead and win! Now for tomorrow ... GO CHARGERS! :biggrin1: I know exactly where you're coming from! My husband was 100% against me having surgery and in the first month afterwards, was so pissed off he slept on the couch. He told me he didn't want me to lose weight because if I did, I'd leave him (his own insecurities) and he sabotaged my progress every chance he got. He has since pulled his head out of his arse and likes the new, shrinking me ... give it time, your BF will too!

  7. I gave in to the chocolate temptation once again today ... just when I was doing so good, getting back on track after the holidays, I let myself go and had 4 chocolate truffles. I suppose it could have been worse, I could have eaten the whole bag ... but I was feeling pretty guilty about it, so much that I extended my evening walk an extra 15 minutes to burn more calories. I've been debating on whether or not to get another fill ... the last time I got one I ended up having to go back for an unfill, I guess part of me is afraid of the same thing happening again. The pain of being overfilled is horrible and definitely something I never want to go through again. I don't overeat, or stuff myself to the point of being in pain and currently I'm not getting hungry between meals (so I might not actually NEED a fill) but it seems the only way for me to lose weight at the moment is to stick to an almost all protein diet, like Atkins. I just wish I could eat normally and lose weight. Janet, was it you who said you ate rice with your evening meal quite often?? I love rice but if I eat it I don't lose. I know we're all different, I guess I still need to find what works for me aside from Atkins. :phanvan

  12. Hi LindaSusan! The only meat I've had problems with so far is steak ... tried it once, up it came! I have either 2.3 or 2.4 in my band, when I went back for my unfill (in November) Dr K said I only had 2.5 in (when I should have had 2.6) ... then he removed .2 so not too sure of the amount, and I certainly hope I don't have a leak! Guess I'll find out at my next fill ... Good luck with your appointment on the 10th ... hope you get the situation resolved!
  13. I posted a thread on it a couple months ago in the food Forum ... some people seem to disagree with it ... basically it's just like Atkins How to break a plateau #1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau #2 - Drink 2 quarts of Water a day #3 - You must have 45 grams of Protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day #4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?) Peanut Butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles tea or coffee sugar free soda sugar free Jello broths/bullion (sp?) crystal light drinks #5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!! #6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  14. Whenever I plateau I do the "plateau busting diet" ... it's a 10 day diet, however, just one day on it breaks the plateau for me :biggrin1:
  15. Forgot to ask if anyone else has experienced this ..... For the past week or so I've been walking each evening for about 30 minutes. It's been really cold here, I'm actually getting some use out of my jacket, gloves & scarf (things us Southern Californians generally have no use for! ) so last night I went on my walk then came home and "tried" to eat dinner. My band was so tight, nothing would go down! Is it possible being in the cold air outside caused it to tighten up?? I loosened it up with a cup of coffee and then ate a hard boiled egg (slowwwlyyyy) but thought it was weird as that has never happened before.
  16. Hello Lucky7's! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I made it through and only managed to gain a pound (which I've already re-lost) so I feel I did pretty darn good. On Christmas Eve I had 1/2 of a tamale along with some beans & rice (of course chips & salsa too) and Grandma sent a bunch of tamales home with us so the next day I had 1 for lunch and again for dinner and snacked on bits of chocolate here & there throughout the day. Yup, not the best food choices I know but what I consumed was still within "moderation" and nowhere near what I would have consumed without the band so no guilty feelings here. No plans for New Years Eve ... I can't remember the last time I went out on New Years. I prefer to stay home, safe and away from all the crazies out on the roads. Wishing each of you a Happy New Year filled with much band success! :biggrin1:

  19. Dear Mother-in-Law ~ I'm civil to you because I have to be but quite honestly, I don't like you! You are a sad, self-absorbed individual and really, I don't know how you can even live with yourself! All those years ago when you shipped your son off to stay with family 2000 miles away after learning he had gotten me pregnant, leaving me to go through a pregnancy alone at the age of 16 and letting your son believe all that time that I had an abortion was wrong on so many levels! Who were you to make that decision? Who were you to deprive your son of being present for his first child's birth? 6 years ago when I miscarried our 2nd child, you treated me like sh*t. You told me it was just a miscarriage and I needed to "get over it" ... you purposely came by just to show off pictures of another family member's new baby knowing that it would get to me after losing my own. You did it to hurt me, you did it out of spite ... you are a B*TCH!! You play favorites with my children and make no attempt to not be so obvious about it ... you spoil Jonah by buying him the best of everything while Daniel & Noah get 99 cent store CRAP. Your son, my husband, lost his job 2 months ago ... you know he hasn't been able to support his family, pay the rent, pay the bills, buy groceries to feed his family ... yet, all you manage to buy him for Christmas is a package of underwear?? Well I hope it was all worth it because you're about to be written off for good. We're moving soon to be closer to his new job (that you don't know about) and well, we've decided not to send you our forwarding address! Good riddance beeyotchhh! Dear Father-in-Law ~ You have got to be the most arrogant, hypocritical @$$hole I have ever met. News flash buddy, no one gives a crap about your self-worth. I could care less that you bought your first house at the age of 26 and that you are "worth" over a million dollars now ... and it sure as hell ain't gonna matter when you're dead so get over yourself! You thought you were being a studly "big man" when you fired your business partner of 20 years a few months ago. Little did you know that said partner could come back and demand the business be dissolved. Your actions caused 15 people to be out of a job, including your own stepson (my husband!) ... oh but you could care less though because although you've been a part of his life since he was a small child, you've said on more than one occasion that he means nothing to you. You stood here in my home and re-assured me that everything would be OK after the business closed, you said you would help us with our rent & bills for a few months until my husband found another job but that help never came. I'm not surprised though because on quite a few occasions you have made promises like this and never followed through. Well that'll be the last time ya jerk! I feel so much better .....
  20. I used to drink nothing but soda morning, noon & night ... NEVER drank water, couldn't stand the stuff ... when I started researching the band and found out that I had to give up my beloved Dr. Pepper, a tiny part of me said no way in hell am I getting that damn surgery and giving up soda! I don't drink alcohol, I've never smoked ... soda was my one & only addiction. Well, I decided to go ahead with the surgery and a month prior to it I cut out the soda completely. It was alot easier than I thought it would be as I haven't thought about it, craved it or even missed it. Last week I took a tiny sip of my son's soda and it actually tasted disgusting! These days I am perfectly content with my water & Crystal Light and for me, that in itself is a huge accomplishment!
  21. The Special K bars are good as well ... 10 grams of protein in each. My fav is their Double Chocolate. :hungry:
