That is good to hear. My mouth is dry all the time. Lol, I wake up at night and my tongue is stuck to the roof of my mouth.

I am curious. I am thirsty all the time now before surgery. Probably because of meds and/or diabetes. After surgery, do you still get as thirsty as before?

Tasteless Protein :)
Has anyone heard that anything over 30, I think, grams of protein is not absorbed so it is useless to drink more than that?

November surgeries?
I'm going to Fountain Valley. I don't have a time yet. Still have 2 more specialists and blood work to do. Then see surgeon on the 1st and pre-op nurse. Hopefully, I will get final details again.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
Thanks Molly, Since this is new, I am so happy to hear how other people are handling their shakes since it will be my main source for quite a few weeks.

Thanks, you just add them to like a purchased vanilla protein drink or make one yourself. What flavor do you like the best?

Can someone tell me how to get to my profile to update my weight loss? I'm confused and lost.
I like all the information you have in your signature. Did you add it yourself or is there someplace to go to do it?

Thank you, Zephyr. I'm having some challenges moving around this site. Too bad there isn't a tutorial or if there is one, I haven't found it yet.

November surgeries?
Are you having to go through a lot of testing like I am? Will be so glad when that part is done. Then I will know for sure it is real.

Tummy troubles :(
How are you doing? Hope everything is better. There is nothing worse than that kind of stomach pain.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
I just made a protein shake with blackberries, 1/2 cup milk and water. It is so thick. You cannot drink it, you have to gulp. This wont work post surgery. Not real fond of it either. Blackberries were frozen, so might not be freshest. Anyone experimenting with protein shakes?

- No One In The Sixties?
I am 69 and became a great grandma a year ago on the 16th of October. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 19th. They are sure thorough on pre op testing. I still have to see a cardiologist and kidney specialist. Had upper GI and chest X-ray yesterday. Blood work still to come.- OCT. 1, 2013 - The First Day of the Rest of My Life
I have so enjoyed reading about your journey. My surgery is Nov 19, but more Dr appts to go. It is so helpful to see what your experiences are and how you are managing. It is very much appreciated.- If it's not one thing it's another!
A psych evaluation was required by my insurance. It went great. She even told me that if I wasn't approved, that I should appeal. She was on my side. My surgery is scheduled for Nov 19, but still have cardiologist and kidney specialist to see first and that scares me more. So sorry you have had to go through this. I know how disappointed I would be if I was postponed. Hopefully, the other Dr can take you. Guess I am lucky there are quite a few Drs in my office.- I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
I'm 69 and scheduled for surgery on Nov 19. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and reflux, so I am so looking forward to this procedure. I am in the process of seeing many specialists and having tests done, but I am feeling confident and hopeful. In my heart I am still in my 50s. Lol- November surgeries?
I just got a call from my coordinator, he has been busy scheduling me for all my tests, cardiologist, kidney specialist, upper GI, lab work, chest X-ray, and pre-op nurse. I have never seen so many doctors or had so many tests in such a short period of time. At least I will know if I'm healthy or not. Then to top it all off, I have a slight cold I am trying so hard to get rid of. If that stops me, I will be so mad.- November surgeries?
I weigh 225 but what I am most excited about the surgery is a cure for my diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and reflux. I can't believe how wonderful it would be to wake up and not have to take a container full of medication. In my support group a lady with diabetes, taking 11 diabetes pills a day, left the hospital only taking 1 pill and that was only because of such an extreme family history of diabetes. Also, looking good in pants wont hurt!- Tummy troubles :(
I had h. Pylori many years ago and had a course of medication that supposedly cured it. I have not had my surgery yet, scheduled for 11/19, so I am thinking I may be tested for it. Will be interesting to see if it still presents. It was probably about 16 years ago.- Weight loss stopped
