That seems like a good idea what if it is always the third weekend of the month. We can always pick the venue later

I have read a majority of posts on the thread, I was a smoker until April when I quit cold turkey. I was banded in August. I am an addict, I am addicted to nicotine, sugar, and white flour. I cannot control myself with these substances. I must abstain from them. I also overeat other foods, which is not an addiction, but a problem with food that I have had for many years. The band helps me not to overeat, but abstinence is the only treatment for my addiction. Some posters have said that eating a big mac is different than smoking. Clearly they do not have the same addiction issues as I do. The argument I have heard is that eating is mandatory but smoking is optional. This is RIDICULOUS, eating processed garbage is most certainly optional. I can bet that not one person on LBT gained copious amounts of weight from eating too much organic spinach!! I am glad that I quit smoking, but for those of you who enjoy smoking, I say go ahead and enjoy it. My father smoked from the age of 11, he died at the age of 82, as the result of a car accident. I know the stats show that smoking shortens your life span, so does driving, being male, and being left handed. Peace and love to all

Hi Bob I think it depends on the schedule with Dr C, I went for my consult on July 20th and was banded on August 15th. Good Luck. I LOVE my band

Count me in Are we rotating around between a few restaurants? I am sooooo glad we are in the west end this time. I look forward to seeing everyone!

I got my first fill on Friday, I was asked to fast for 2 hours before the fill, then I was on soft food for one day, then back to normal food. I think it depends on the doc though, and also the size of the fill. My band doc is only about 8 miles away, so I can go frequently. They put in less than 1cc, point 8 actually, which is very conservative. Good Luck, you will be fine

Has anyone else been given these same rules?
Michee replied to susanfrompa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Susan I thought we had the same doc when I first read your post. My rules were pretty much the same as yours. -
Hypoglycemic? blood sugar question
Michee replied to 100lbsforsale's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a type 2 diabetic, and until I was banded I was taking a drug called metformin. Once I started the 2 week pre op Optifast Diet, the doc told me to discontinue meds. I was on three shakes per day. I was checking my blood regularly and my numbers were always excellent. The only way to tell whether your blood sugar is low, versus, really really wanting to eat something, is to test your blood. Get a glucometer and use it regularly as recommended by your health care professional. Diabetes is a serious illness, do not take it lightly, and do NOT take advice from anyone other than a member of a health care team that has your complete medical profile and has seen your numbers (sugar and others) THe lapband is ideal for diabetes, I have only lost 25 pounds so far, and I am already off my meds!! You are gonna do great !! -
I am going to be unpopular ............. The OP may have a hidden agenda here, but I have often often thought the same things as the OP. My decision to get the band was health first (diabetes and high cholestral) and vanity second. I have read way too many posts where people are ingesting large quantities of crap, in such items as crystal light and diet instant puddings, diet Jello, etc etc. while I am sure these people are losing weight, it hardly seems that ingesting all those chemicals can be part of the road to better health. Everyone is on there own journey, I am trying to learn as much as possible about health and nutrition, and with the help of the band I am working toward a healthy slim body. Peace, Love and Health to everyone

How long till you could drive?
Michee replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on August 15. I had no restriction about driving, although I certainly wouldnt have wanted to drive the day of surgery. I had surg on Wed and was driving on Friday. I think the no driving is more about the medication. I was given liquid codiene, but of course did not take it once I started driving. Probably best to check with your own clinic though -
What to do with all of our old clothing??
Michee replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I donate to a charity shop, such as GoodWill or Salvation Army. They sell it and they use the money to do good work. -
How much is the fee? I paid for my pre op evaluation, and my doc charges for sick notes also. It sounds like you are committed to getting the band do not let some anger and a few dollars stand in the way of achieving your goal. Best of luck

Surgical Weightloss Centre Mississauga
Michee replied to Jacklyn55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jaclyn One of the things that you may also want to consider is proximity of clinic to your home, for ease of fill appointments. After doing my research on both clinics mentioned by Peaches, I found both to be competent, and would have felt comfortable at either. SWLC is about 12 kilometres from home for me, along the QEW. I had a fill this morning at 9:00 and was at work by 9:30. I wish you the best of luck on your research and your journey to health with the band -
Sometimes I feel when things are going well that the other shoe is about to drop, that part of the balance of life means good things and shitty things come my way. After a bunch of good things or great things, a bunch of shit is on its way well its here........ Last week I discovered a problem with some of my staff and the staff of another organization that we do business with. We are a not for profit so it is a small gossip filled world. Well on Monday at 2:00 I am meeting with the people of this other organization and will be put in a position to defend my staff and their actions. I need to be politically correct so that no negative information gets back to my manager or CEO. Yesterday my neighnour yelled at me because my dog got out of my yard, and found her way to his patio. The thing is I was in the yard with the dog, as soon as she took off I started calling her name and chased after her, she can run faster than me and got to his patio about 10 seconds before me. My ex and I get together about every three weeks for breakfast. A few years ago he moved to Georgia and moved in with this woman that he had dated in highschool, after they met up again on the internet. He moved back to Ontario Canada about 8 months later when it didnt work out. SInce he has been back he hasnt mentioned that hes been seeing anyone. Well I got a call from a friend of mine who saw an article in the paper about him. His car had been stolen a few days ago with his dog inside. The article mentioned him and his wife. Turns out he moved in with the woman who he was cheating with when I left him 10 years ago. The article appeared in 2 papers, and a follw up article will appear in our local paper, as the dog was found safe and sound. I feel like I was cheated on again.

I have the inamed 10cc, was banded on August 15th

Hi SweatPea. I have not had my first fill yet, so I feel very little restriction. the trick for me is NEVER to allow junk food in the house. This is easy for me as I do not have teenagers. If you own the daycare, perhaps you could eliminate cheetos and other junk food, and provide healthy Snacks for the kids. You may even be able to charge more in the future. I know around here Daycares that serve only healthy organic foods charge more. Good Luck

Mine took one hour, I was banded and also had a hiatal hernia repaired.

I get those little cans of tuna, they have the pop off lid. Also apples and oranges have a long shelf life when not refridgerated, a jar of Peanut Butter, and some crackers. Best of luck, I plan to check this thread often to get some new ideas!

We had these denim shirts last year, they had mens and womens samples to try on, I didnt get one cos they were optional and I HATE denim shirts. Anyway, quite a few of the women (even real thin) ordered the mens cos they liked them better, they didnt like how the darts on the ladies shirts made there hips stick out. The darts were a problem for the flat chested women, as there was "air pockets" with no boobage inside. I am sure lots of people have issues with the shirts, from too fat to too skinny or too short, and shirt looks like a dress or too tall and shirt shows part of your belly, or the colour they picked clashes with your hair or skin tone. I bet lots of people HATE the DAMN shirts. YOU are NOT alone.

Did they weigh you on surgery day?
Michee replied to mermaidpuppy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have been weighed before every surgery in order to get anaesthetic dose right. I was on a pre op diet, as the doc wanted the liver to shrink a little. I suspect it was also some sort of a test to see if I could stick to the post op diet of liquid for 14 days. Yes go ahead and do the math, I was on liquid diet for 14 days, then a one day fast pre op, then 14 days of liquids post op. 29 days without actual food !! -
Hi Liz My dog is only 60 pounds, so not quite the same. I was banded on August 15th. My port which is the largest incision is slightly to the left of my navel. If I have the leash in the right hand, there does not seem to be a pulling sensation. Also I bought Benny Bully Liver treats, I keep them in my pocket and then "heel" my dog. Since she loves food I can keep her attention. Good Luck

hi Alison I am newly banded, I am also single and live alone. Welcome back to Band Land
