  1. I had my 3 month follow up today. Down total of 60 so far. All the labs are great except my A1C which was 10.8...damn diabetes!! Doc says he wants me to go back on meds and to not be discouraged but it is hard not to be cause the diabetes was the reason I decided to have the surgery.

No other option but to chive on and see what happens in the next few months.

  2. Awesome Angie! Way to go! quote name="lmgriego" post="3300682" timestamp="1388460735"]

Ok here's my pics. 45 pounds down from October 16th surgery date. A friend of mine is having the sleeve done in January and her counselor told her to do a lot of side by side pics instead of relying on the mirror. It's very strange when looking in the mirror I don't see 45 pounds gone!! I have heard many people in my support groups say that and I thought they were crazy but I know exactly what they mean now!!!

  4. We're almost 3 months post-op. Let's share our progress! Here are my photos of before and now. The side by side is July 2013 and a week ago. The other was my 50th b-day present (necklace) from my dear husband last Thursday. Molly

Wow Molly u look awesome!! Keep up the great work!!! Happy New Year! I'll do my photos later when I get a chance :)

    Good Job Molly!!

  5. 10 weeks out...52 pounds down. All is going ok. Hard to eat sometimes because I am not ever hungry. My friend said you used to live to eat and now you eat to live. Had the stuck feeling just a couple of times, best thing for me to do is walk it off. It lasts for about 15 minutes. I learned my lesson though...chew chew chew. I never threw up but really wanted to.

I miss vegetables and salads. In due time I suppose. No dumping, but I haven't really done anything to tempt fate. :) No good bread, but I will have an occasional rye krisp or half of a Natures Own thin round, toasted pretty much til its dry and crumbly. I put tuna or egg salad on them. Still supplement with Protein shakes. Keeping up with the Vitamins and Nexium although Calcium is a struggle. I just wish we could take everything twice a day instead of having to space it out. Fluids are a struggle somethimes especially when I get involved at work I lose track of time. To be honest I am not doing much exercise yet except for walking. I do have more energy and don't get winded. NSV...I can cross my legs when I am sitting and the waistband of my jeans just not roll down anymore...lol. I have lost a bra cup size. I'm kinda sad about that...lol. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and Happy Holidays! Respect the pouch! Respect it!! :) Lisa

  6. Six weeks post op today. 1 month check up was great down 35 pounds. I let surgeon know that my sugar levels were still high. He was kind of surprised and said to give it a few months. The diabetes clinic put me back on long acting insulin which I started on the 9th of Nov. Well guess what...almost a week and a half and I have gained 2 pounds! I am still following all the things that the program says...only new thing is insulin. I get in all my Protein and Vitamins. Calories are 600-700 and carb count under 40 grams. I am feeling totally discouraged. Even on 20 units of long acting insulin, anytime I test its still in the 250 range which means I'll have to increase dose . Have another appointment Thursday. Anyone else have any diabetes issues? I so desperately wanted to be in the 80% of people who were able to go off meds after RNY.

  7. Four week post op today. Doing well, no issues with my stomach thank goodness. Just working on getting everything in as I don't ever feel hungry. Will admit that I "want" things sometimes when I smell them so I kinda try to avoid those situations. scale says 35 pounds so far. I have one month followup on Friday to talk about labs that I had drawn Monday...ten tubes worth! I am disappointed that my glucose levels are still high so also made appointment at diabetes clinic. I really don't want to go back on insulin. I just lost all the weight I gained after I started taking it. Hopefully will get to move on to the soft food stage. Tired of pureeing almost everything and would like to have some meat and veggies with texture. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care. Lisa

  8. Had my surgery Oct 8th. No problems, no nausea or gas pain 7 incisions all very small. Had 2 week post op check up Fri. All glue has fallen off my incisions. Doc says I can tub bathe and swim. I had planned to go to work a week after my surgery, but I caught a cold so took few extra days. Down 24 pounds since starting 2 week preop diet. Started pureed diet yesterday. Have had refried Beans, mashed potato, pureed tuna, cottage cheese, apple sauce. This morning Breakfast was a scrambled egg cooked with a little milk and 1T bls of ricotta cheese. My sides were 1Tbls pureed green chiles and 1Tbls refried beans. Tolerating everything well. No nausea or other digestive issues. Still supplementing Protein with powder and shakes. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care. Respect the pouch! Respect it!! :-)

  10. Home from hospital yesterday. Was not as bad as I thought it would be. Got up and started walking right away so didn't have gas pain. Doc says I am one of his better patients. Hardest thing for me is getting in and out of bed and haven't been able to sleep on my side yet. I feel like I have done a million crunches. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care...Lisa

  11. My 2 week pre-op diet has been full liquids...broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, Protein Shakes, high Protein nonfat yogurt and sugar free beverages. I have been averaging 75 grams of protein and maybe 600-700 calories a day. It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. As of Friday I had lost 10 pounds. I haven't cheated at all. My motivation is the possibility of no longer having to inject insulin 4 times a day and worrying that I won't be alive to see my grandkids (a long time away since my son is only 9...lol) Tomorrow is only Clear Liquids all day and nothing after midnight. Surgery Tuesday morning. Busy getting the house, my son and I ready. Challenging being a temporary geographical single mom, but I have good friends supporting me. Good luck everyone and best wishes for much success on your journeys!

  12. Ok so I am 6 month post op and I was doing some thinking today.

I usually drink my Protein powder drinks throughout the day. I maybe have 2 shakes with milk and another 2 of my cappuccino stuff mixed with Water. I also eat protein but really dont eat very much.

Should I only be doing the Protein Shakes and powders as meal replacements? Or is what im doing ok? Dont know why I thought of this today, 6 months post op, but I guess we will always question if we are doing things right!

My surgeon and nut said to focus on protein and water and not to necessarily count calories and I have lost 74 since 4-22 surgery so I am doing something right. If I can do better of course id like too!

    Thanks for any advice!

I guess everyone is different in what works for them. In our program after a few months we should be consuming most of our protein and other nutrients on solid food and not depending on the supplements as much.
