  1. I thought this was great and as I get smaller I understand this more... right now it's the knee thing, I'm not use to feeling my knee bones pressing against each other so I use a pillow when I sleep because it kinda hurts lol I truly believe I will find other things but will never miss them enough to go back.

Insurance says surgery is "excluded". Options now?

Oh and I don't think you will find a surgeon to finance here in the US, so you would have to get a personal loan or try care credit

Insurance says surgery is "excluded". Options now?

Sorry to hear, I have been trying for 8 years and was looking into medical tourism (Mexico) to have my surgery, they have great programs but at the first of last year my company switched insurance companies and it was covered. Took 10 months and still cost me about what going to Mexico would have been. Just a thought... good luck

    Fullness guilt

I feel the same way, some days I feel like omg I have been pigging out all day than I go back over my fitness pal numbers for the day 800 calories 50 carbs 88 protein and think to myself ok you did good today so stop stressing....I think so many years of that cycle of guilt and comfort with food it is going to take time...when I feel to guilty which is gettin less and less I talk my day over with my hubby and he reassures me I have nothing to be guilty over...part of the journey of healing not just our bodies but our minds
  5. Sounds like you meet your requirements so you should be ok but I totally understand how you feel I did not relax until I was knocked out, even sitting in pre op all ready to go I was waiting for someone to come up and say sorry denied...good luck and keep us posted!

I was sick this past weekend first cold since surgery 3 months out..I used Nyquil with no problem
  7. What does your insurance require or are you self pay? I went thru my whole 6 month program ( that took 10 months) including having my date before my info was submitted to insurance, I knew I meet and fulfilled all their requirements but I was still a nervous wreck

    Fluids

Your first week or so tiny sips are all you can do and you probably wont even feel like doing that...most rec 64 oz a day but will include protein shakes, broth, milk, crystal light, sf jello, sf popsicle as liquid...just watch for signs of dehydration. My first week I always had something in my hand I was sipping on, it is a all day job lol

Most flexible fitness monitor on the market today?

Not that this will help much but I use Body Media Link, I love it. It is the only one that measures calories burned thru your skin temp along with steps so it counts all your activity your doing whether its doing dishes or riding a bike...I say it wont help you because it does not have a HM yet they are coming out with a new improved smaller one called Core2 but still waiting on that. Also there is one called Basic I think that is the only one you dont have to wear a strap to monitor your heart rate but last I read people said that did not do so well ....good luck

    The Slow Losers Thread

Going on 11 weeks down 32 which I am happy with because I wouldn't have done that on my own, and I know its not good to compare which I try not to do but its hard some days when day after day you follow the rules to a T and the numbers on the scale or clothing not move but than someone else with the same stats not as far out has lost twice that ah o well I will get there at some point.

    Pre-op question...?

Like teacherlady during my 6 months of weigh ins and classes I made changes, weighed and measured, record everything I ate and put post op eating into practice...so no you are not crazy this is a huge lifestyle change and breaking old habits are very hard. I even started using my tiny fork and spoon 3 months pre op about, thru the whole time I was trying protein shakes and even started doing my pre op diet once a month for a week...its all good practice to help you become successful! Even as prepared as I was I still tend to eat to fast which has lead to throwing up....so really practice slowin down lol

    Help/opinion

Your tummy will be numb for a while and soft mushy foods and liquids pretty much just pass thru..its very important you measure and only get drink what they told you for the first couple months...once you start eating solid proteins believe me you will feel it

    Recovery Time

I was off 2 weeks, wish I had taken 4...mainly because I got worn out very quickly and working your phases of food the first month is a full time job in its self...if you can afford the time id take it and focus on your new life...good luck to you

    Protein Powders?

If you have a costco or sams club (some walmarts) premier protein shakes are great..30 grams of protein...body fortress whey vanilla creme at walmart is 22 for a tub, mixes well with water and you can add flavors....gnc has a line called total lean that cost a bit more but its good...unjury you have to order off line you can get a sample pack, I use their unflavored and chicken soup....an unflavored still have a taste but I add it to crystal light, hot chocolate and my starbucks skinny lattes and you dont taste it. Just a note by 7 or 8 weeks they would like you to try to get most of your protein from food and only use shakes if needed, im going on 9 weeks and might do one a day ...good luck

    What they didnt tell me.......

Sorry to hear you have had a rough go of it, its good to hear the good and bad as this is a major surgery. I had to do a 6 month program which I was given a lot of info good and bad, also spent hours doing my own research...knock on wood, I have had no issues post op but its good for pre ops to hear the risks because not everyone goes thru a great program.. Best of luck to you in the New Year

    Newbie here with a question!

I had wanted RNY since 05 it wasnt til this past year I was finally able to get surgery...when I went into my 6 month program I was now set on the Sleeve but thru the course of the year I changed back to RNY because I need total restriction, I need to dump or know the risk of anyways...I have friends on MFP that has the Sleeve and can eat 1200 calories of sugary greasy junk 2 months out. That was my main reason and although the sleeve has been around awhile and people do great I have seen people get RNY after sleeve ...I only want to do surgery once so for me RNY it was! Good luck in your journey!

    Protein Shakes with Fruit

Thats why a lot of insurance requires 6 month programs, there is a lot to learn. My NUT sat down with me and my sheet and we went over it basically if not on the list I dont ask cause its a no. As far as fruit I was not aloud it until 8 weeks. Your pre op is mainly to shrink your liver so they have room to work safely its not meant to torture you. You need to keep yourself focused with your mind on the end result, its only a couple weeks...not to sound mean but be strong and do what you got to do...good luck

    42 days and counting...
