This is a question for your doctor.. good luck ????
  5. First Congrats to all and your upcoming surgeries!!! I think almost all of use went thru this, but guess what it's not the last time for some yes they will never eat some things again but for others they will. Surgery does not always produce dumping and you will be able to eat way to many calories in a day if you don't fix the problems that got you to this point. Some people have medical reasons for gaining weight but others don't, I am 11 months out and every day is still a struggle I don't dump and although I eat way smaller portions I have had bad days emotionally where my calories add up, now your probably saying "well that's not gonna happen to me because I will never eat those foods again after" believe me I said that pre also but when you struggle with food addiction, an emotional eater and a busy life it's very easy to lose focus... your food demons need to be addressed...best wishes

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Reading back thru the last few post I'm glad to see I'm not the only one struggling not that I want to see anyone struggle or fail but I have been having a hard time the past couple months, I need to get refocused some how.. I did reach 100 loss last week but still would like to lose about 30 more. I was surprised at how much hunger came back, I get my water and protein in and nothing makes me dump... I think I need to change my job for a bit so I can really focus on changing me... good luck all

Am I selfish for wanting bypass?

I was on the fence for the year prior to my surgery as to get the sleeve or bypass, my only real health issue was acid reflex but was almost 300 lbs at 5' 2 ..my doctor said it was up to me but because of the reflux bypass would be better, I also wanted the "help" of dumping should I have a weak moment well guess what nothing makes me dump so don't use that as a guide. Surgery no matter which one you get I a great tool but you have to make sure you have all your food demons under control. Both are really good, I know people who got the sleeve have reached goal and no issues, I know people who have gotten it and still ended up getting the bypass later on. Good luck on making your informed choice but don't feel guilty or like your being selfish it's your body and your life

    What foods made you dump?

Don't rush to many foods, can you do eggs, cheese or yogurts... you may have to give chicken a break and try again in a few weeks

    Pre op

Hang in there, the first 2 to 3 days are the hardest keep your eye on the prize! Headaches are common as your body goes thru a detox period of sugar and carbs. A cup of warned low sodium fat free chicken broth will help with that a lot... best of luck this is only a small step in a long journey!

    Only lost 10lbs - WTF

I agree no matter what size everyone wants to be happy with the person they see in the mirror. Yes health is important but so is mental health and people don't think of the toll our minds take and it really has nothing to do with being vain, I have lost 100 so far but I get zero exercise because of my job -lifestyle, I have a lot of loose jiggly skin more so than I thought I would have and it really messes with ones self esteem. Hoping to change jobs by next spring and really focus on putting my body back together... Oh and my boobs I was once proud of ...gone lol

    What foods made you dump?

Don't know if I'm lucky or cursed but nothing makes me dump not sugar, fat carbs or grease.. 10 months out I can eat anything which I was hoping would not happen I wanted to dump when I had those weak moments and turned to old habits, at this point I almost feels like I never had surgery and I still struggle everyday with my food demons ????

Best brand of RTD Protein drinks?

I loved Atkins coffee flavors little low on the protein side so I add a half scoop of unflavored, along with the premier I like GNC lean 25 rtd not so much the vanilla or chocolates but their flavored ones are good pumpkin spice, strawberry, orange cream... I think I burned myself out on the rtd ones though lol now I mainly use Click decaf mocha coffee protein, syntrex nectar flavors and unjury I just make them the night before

    Only lost 10lbs - WTF

You may not be able to eat some foods yet like the fish and eggs you mentioned but try again in a few weeks as your tummy heals pending there is nothing medically wrong... watch your carbs, check out the world according to egg face and bariatric Foodie for good simple protein recipes for all stages not to mention ideas on shakes... quest bars are best warmed in the microwave for a few seconds also check out their websites for recipes... unflavored protein as you have found out does have a mild taste but some of the things I use it in sugar free Swiss miss hot chocolate, pasta sauce and I add it to my skinny vanilla latte (decaf) don't start with a full scoop use half or less and increase ..good luck
  18. My rings are too big but still wear them, not ready to resize because I'm not at goal so we went to the jeweler to ask about those plastic bands they said they are not good for the gold and can irritate your finger so I had placer put on, they are two little bumps on the inside of the ring that keeps them in place the don't spin and you can't feel them, than when I resize they will remove them... worth the piece of mind

    Hospital Survival Bag

I was in 24 hours, wore my pjs to the hospital and home they were stretchy and comfy. I brought a small pillow for my tummy to get up from seated position, they gave me a belly band and slipper socks, some people bring gas x but they gave me something for gas after. Chap stick, your mouth will be very dry and they should give you some of those swabs to rinse your mouth. Took my phone charger other than that between nurses coming in every couple hours sleeping and walking I didn't have time to get bored... good luck
  20. I am 10 months out, I took biotin along with my other vitamins for a year prior to surgery, month prior I was getting over 100 grams of protein a day and have averaged 85 to 100 grams since day 5 of surgery. My hair has thinned out a lot but I seem to be the only one who notices, I cut it a bit shorter and use a root booster. I think it's slowly coming back, I switched to a quick dissolve line of all natural vitamins about 3 months ago, think they have helped my hair and nails

    Off limit foods after bypass

Your new tummy will be the dictator of what your eating will be.. high protein low Carb and sugar is what my doctor says do I stick to that every meal, no my tummy likes everything... should I be eating everything no I am a food addict (working on that) and I still have bad days. I don't how ever have soda but I have tried about every food I love just far far far less.
  22. Truckerchic

    Unsure...

I think that is a normal fear, fear of the unknown... I guess your new tummy will be the judge of what you can and can not eat, but I will say I don't eat perfect everyday some days more than I should or not what I should... don't know if I'm cursed or lucky but my tiny tummy has no issues for the most part.. everyday I still have to work at it just like before surgery but I have lost 100 lbs and I feel great. Do you have any support groups thru your doctor or in your area? Also there are support groups on Facebook and using apps like My Fitness Pal with fellow bypass friends before hand will let you see what eating after is like.

    Hi!

Most programs although want you to lose weight they are more concerned with you being able to make the changes it takes.. eating slowly, chew chew chew, 5 or 6 small planned meals, protein first, sugar free, no drinking half hour before or after your meals... making these changes now will help you lose and make it much easier after.. keep positive!!
