  1. Thinking of changing my goal weight to a lower number. I've been encouraged to do so by several people. Even the surgeons office too.

Get to your goal 1st and then "revise." That's what I did. I feel some sort of accomplishment bc I'm not sure if I'll hit my revised goal.

  2. Wonderful! Congratulations and continued success to you.
  3. I had gastric bypass and I am on anti depressants and one of them is Wellbutrin and my doctor has me take it three times a day and it works just fine. No problems with depression meds what so ever. Now with reflux I was told by my gastric doctor before I even had surgery that with the sleeve my Gerds would get worse and that is why I had the bypass surgery. I have had no problems with anemia since having the surgery I did in the past. I have had no problems with malabsorption either. Well I have fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, stenosis of the spine and a few other things and I've been able to cope without NSAIDS just fine. There are alternatives to those that are non narcotic and work well. A pain specialist would help you find the right one for you. So good luck in your decision which ever way you go.

    Protein powders

40g of sugar will make you very sick and you will have dumping from that. According my nutritionist should have no more then 12g of sugar per serving so it won't cause dumping. Please be very careful. Good luck with find something you like.

    Protein powders

I like Jay Robb whey Protein powder made with stevia. It comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. It has 25g of protein and is not gritty or thick when made. I happen to make it with skim milk. Oh and it's not overly sweet either. You can purchase at Whole Foods, Amazon, or eBay.

    Protein Q's...a lil help please!

Didn't the nutritionist give you guide lines of how much Protein to have each day? You need protein to help you heal from surgery. You need protein to keep everything functioning correctly. Best ways are eating meat, poultry and fish. You also drink Protein shakes or eat Protein Bars. The two protein bars recommended to me by the nutritionist are Pure Protein Bars and Quest Bars. You could use unjury Soup or cheese sauce to get in protein. So protein, Water, and your Vitamins and supplements are all major important. I hope this helps little. Good luck.

    Filet'd open like a fish?

I had mine six months ago and it was not filet a fish. It was laparoscopic I believe five small incisions and that's all. I believe it is very rare that any surgeon has to open anyone up for this surgery. Try to relax and good luck with your surgery and afterwards. Welcome to a new journey and there are lots of people here that will answer questions any time.
  9. Where in Illinois are you located? I'm in the northern suburbs outside of Chicago? Did you get a second opinion about doing the revision? Have you had any test to look inside to see what is going on with the stomach at this stage?

Mix it in crystal light for extra Protein. Mix it in Greek yogurt with some Splenda for some extra protein. Mix it with your suger free pudding for extra protein. Mix it with sugar free Jello for extra protein.
  14. I started with my first appointment with the surgeon in May 2013 and had my surgery September 2013. I was lucky that it was that short of a time. I believe on average for most it's at least 6 months. I depends on the insurance you have, what your surgeon requires you to do before they do surgery. Good luck with your journey into WLS.
  15. I had diabetes and had the gastric bypass surgery and haven't taken a med for it since the day of the surgery. I just had my A1C done this past week and it was 4.7 I know that it is scary to make this decision but I'm glad I did in the long run. At first I was going to have the sleeve but I also had Gerds and with the sleeve it can get worse so I didn't want to take that chance and also diabetes doesn't go away with the sleeve like it does with the bypass. I know that you are thinking about the lapband and all I can say about it is that I know people that had it and wand up changing afterwards to bypass. The final decision is yours and I wish you all the luck in the world in whatever you decide.
  16. WOW! Congratulations on the excellent weight loss and the new car. You've given yourself two wonderful gifts. Good luck with continued success.

    Trouble with cravings

Hi You don't say what surgery you had but I can tell you that with any WLS if you give in you will become every sick. You are only less then two weeks out so may I suggest trying these two things to satisfy a sweet craving if that is what you have. sugar free Bomb Pops Popsicles made with Splenda. These work well for me. The other is Petite Deceit sugar free hard candy that you can purchase on Amazon. I would also contact your nutritionist or surgeon and tell them what's going on with you and ask them for suggestions for help. Also if there is any Bariatric meetings in your area I suggest that you attend them so you can get input from others that have had WLS. Good luck and hang in there it's so worth it.

    Question?

Hi Look for if you can find them Bomb Pops sugar free Popsicles made with Splenda they really work for me. Quest Protein Bars have 20g of protein with them. They are sweetned with Stevia with is a natural sugar from a plant that won't make you sick like sugars. My nutritionist recommends them to have. There is a sugar free hard candy that I have tried that is very satisfying called Petite Deceit. You can find them on Amazon. Good luck in your search. th Stevia m
  19. I once weighed 350 lbs and now over the years and with gastric bypass surgery last year I have lost 167 lbs total. I'm pretty proud of myself.

    Shoe size?!?!

    5 months out & struggling

Instead of Oreo's may I suggest Cookies 'N Creme Quest Bars. They are wonderful tasting and they have no sugar but are made with stevia, low carbs and 20g of Protein in them. Quest Bars come in so many different flavors that you might find them enjoyable subsitute for your cravings. I found a hard candy from Italy called Petite Deceit and they are made with stevia and they are 2 calories per candy also very low in carbs. They come in fruit flavors. Be creative with Protein shakes by adding extract to them when making them in the blender. I found a great sugar free popsicle called Bomb Pops made with Splenda. You have done great so far why go backwards. Is it worth it? Maybe try something here it might help you get through this hard time and future times too. Good luck and keep going forward.

How long before you started working out?

Walking is good for you at this point. If you are talking about going back into the gym it took my a month before i could go back and slowly work back into my routine. It all depends on what you do at the gym and what your doctor says you are allowed to do and how fast. I know I had weight restrictions of how much I could lift. Good luck and feel good.
  23. I would like to know why the heck are you taking vitamins this early. Your pouch is to new to be able to handle those. My team of doctors have you wait two weeks till they start you on vitamins because they feel that's the amount of time the new pouch needs to heal to do so. This my opinion that maybe this one of the reasons your in pain. Also Popsicles is another way to get some fluid in you. Not as good as water but it helps a little. Make sure they are sugar free. I think this shall get better for you and the pain will subside. Once again if some doesn't feel right don't hesitate to ask questions about it. That's what you should always do to your doctor or nutritionist. Good luck and feel better.

    Gas

I use Gas X strips. I think they work faster to relieve your discomfort.
  25. Chelly

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

I just found Bomb Pop sugar free Popsicles that are made with Splenda and they are so good. They are the red, white and blue kind of popsicles. Drink as much fluids as you possibly can it's very important so you don't get dehydrated. May I suggest unjury chicken Soup that has 20g of Protein in it. Crystal light is good and you could add unflavored Protein powder to it if you want. Good luck and congratulations.
