    Eating Anxiety...

You are in trouble big time! You are most defiantly not eating the proper nutrition. You must following the instructions and guidelines your doctor and nutritionist have given you. You must run to the therapist immediately you need help most defiantly. Please keep us informed of your progress and what you have done to improve the situation. Best of luck.

    Sweet tooth

For my sweet tooth I eat Quest Bars but they have 20 or 21 grams of Protein them. They are approved by my nutritionist to use. I also use Bomb Pop Popsicles that are made with Splenda. You may also have sugar free pudding. One last suggestion is Petite Deceit sugar free hard candies that are made with Stevia. You can find them on Amazon. Good luck to you.
  3. It's really a normal feeling to be nervous. But this surgery is a great tool for helping you to loose weight. Your stomach will be to small to eat large amounts of food. I'm seven months out and I'm happy that I had the surgery and don't regret doing it either. All I can say is listen to your surgeons and nutritionists guidelines that they give you and you will be pleased with yourself when those pounds start to come off. They are there to make things as easy for you as they can. Also they will be there to answer questions and concerns that come up and don't hesitate to contact them. Also people are here to talk to and help you along your way on this new chapter in your life. Best of luck on this journey.

    Costco Premier Protein

Shmily, The reason why is it doesn't have the right Protein in them in their opinion. I don't understand it since everyone else seems to be able to drink them on their programs. I follow the guidelines that they have given me so I don't drink them any more. I use Jay Robb whey Protein powder made with stevia instead.

    Costco Premier Protein

They are really good. My nutritionist and surgeon don't allow them as part of their program and I wish they would. They come in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry at costco. Good luck in your journey of WLS.

    Gastric Bypass 9 years on.

What happened to you is not common place with this surgery. I feel for you that you had and are having difficulties. This surgery has changed in the past decade and has been improved upon. More people have had this surgery then any other WLS and have had great success. I am one of them. I hope that you can get beyond your anger about this and try to have a happier life.

I don't live in California but I have suggestion that you might try a library to use one of their rooms possibly.

    A1C too high for surgery?

I agree cut down your carbs and sugar intake. Choose more vegetables then fruit. Stay away from juices very high in natural sugars. If you eat yogurt get plain and add your own sweetener to it and a little fruit. Protein shakes are great but read the label for ingredients and make sure there is not sugar in it. If you are going to make your own shakes then I recommend Jay Robb whey Protein powder made with stevia. It comes in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. You can find it at a Whole foods, Amazon, eBay or directly from the company. If you want some flavors added to it I recommend Toscani sugar free syrups made with Splenda. You can find them at World Market, Amazon, eBay or directly for Toscani. These are just a few suggestions of what I would do. Good luck.

    Surgery April 23rd

First of all get rid of that scale or least only step on it once a week. scales are in my opinion self defeating and can drive you crazy. Second I highly doubt your surgeon is going to call off your surgery. Third don't sweat it that you fell off the wagon because it's over and done with. The best of luck to you for Wednesday.
  10. Have you done this before I mean loose weight? I've did many times and many others here have too. In my opinion Optifast is unrealistic way to loose weight permanently because as soon as you start eating food your body will glob onto it. Surgery is a big deal and maybe you're having second thoughts because you are worried about it. In my opinion I think you will have bigger worries if you don't do it. I would some soul searching and ask myself questions of why at this point you're so set against it when you wanted it before. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
  11. Don't be afraid. I'm six months out and I eat regular food, Quest Protein bar and a Protein shake everyday and I'm still loosing. I keep to the right portions and works. I can tell if you don't start the next phase your body will go haywire. It needs the nutrition. Most important is protein and Water to help you heal properly. Following each stage that the nutritionist and the surgeon have mapped out for you it's important. I wish you continued success and relax it will be fine.
  12. I don't weigh myself. I only get weighed when I go to the doctors for something. I just rely on how my clothes fit. I think weighing yourself often is self defeating. Your weight fluctuates to much that you might get discouraged if it doesn't say what you want it to say. Good luck with your surgery when it happens.

    Comorbidities and surgery

I was diabetic which I know have an A1C of 4.7 and off all meds for that. I had high blood pressure which I no longer take meds for. I had high cholesterol which I no longer have so I am off that med. I had migraines which I haven't had and am off that med. My sleep apnea is going to be retested and with luck I'll be off of CPAP too. Surgery is well worth doing. I will feel so much better for doing it. Good luck in your decision.

    Soda flavor

Toscani makes sugar free syrups in many flavors and it is made with Splenda. Maybe give them a try and see if they have anything that sounds good to you.

    Any september 2013 sleevers?

My surgery was September 25, 2013 and my last weigh in I had lost 97 lbs and counting. I don't weigh myself so I don't know if I have lost any more. I'm doing great and feel good. I'm off of diabetes meds, blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds and a couple others. I have a Protein shakes everyday and I have a Quest bar too. I still eat small portions because I and meat don't always agree with each other. I don't get sick from it it just fills me up with 2 or 3 oz. I can eat more of fish, egg beaters and reduced fat cheese. I don't eat very much carbs except for a few crackers with my cheese or once in awhile a slice of toasted bread. I think that covers about everything except I exercise 4x a week at the gym and keep moving doing other things on the other days.

    Tomorrow

You are entering a new chapter in your life. You don't say what surgery you are having but whichever one it is you'll do fine. I don't regret mine 99.9% of the time. That .1% is in my dreams that I have and what I act like towards food I don't have any more. I feel great from having this surgery because I'm off diabetes meds, blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and a few others. As for my sleep apnea it's changed and I'm going to be retested to see if I still have it. Good luck and be well.

    I feel so selfish...

I don't think your being selfish. I think that you just want to get on with your surgery so you can begin a new stage in your life. Being all those emotions that you are experiencing is normal. Good luck to you.

    Confused

Hi, It's really best that you stay where you are because they all work as a team. I know there is an extra cost to you but the dietitian works with the surgeon to make sure that you are getting the best support that you can have. They coordinate your treatment. Best of luck to you in your surgery.

    Workout before surgery

I did before surgery. I went 5x a week to the gym. Helped me loose more weight then I was required to before my surgery. Keep going and good luck with your surgery.
  20. I have found Jay Robb Whey Protein powder that is made with Stevia is not overly sweet. At least to me. It comes in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. You can find it at Whole Foods, Amazon or eBay. It mixes really well no chalky taste. It has all kinds of Vitamins in it.

    Surgical staples

Interesting question and I would ask the experts like your surgeon's office. I wonder if the surgeon even counts them as he or she is doing the surgery. Let us know please if you get an answer.

    Medicare/medicaid

I would have your surgeons office send the paper work to Medicare and see if they will cover it. I know that they will cover regular gastric bypass surgery. Good luck to you and let us know the answer if you don't mind.
  23. unjury chicken Soup has 20g of Protein in each serving and it's good tasting in my opinion. Unjury cheese sauce is good on your mashed potatoes or vegetables and it also has 20g of protein per serving. Mix the Unjury unflavored protein to sugar free Jello, crystal light, Greek yogurt, and sugar free pudding. I hope this helps you and the best of luck to you.

    I'm in the medical field.

I am not in the medical field I am speaking out as a person who was a patient. To say that CNA's and MA's are not part of the medical field is a really rude and snarky thing to express. As a person being the hospital I would have been lost if my CNA wasn't there to help when my nurse was with another patient. The CNA took care of me most of the time when I needed to go to the bathroom, clean up, needed to be moved in a different position in bed, to take my vitals and just someone to talk to if I was lonely. Your superior attitude would definitely make me not want you as my nurse. The CNA's and MA's probably don't like working with you when you consider them beneath you like you do and not part of the team in the medical care. Get off your high horse and change your attitude. That's all I have to say on this subject except one more thing and that is thank you to all the CNA's and MA's for being there and for being who you are.
  25. I like Jay Robb whey Protein powder from either Whole Foods if you have that store near you or you can find it on Amazon or eBay. It's made with Stevia and mixes smoothly in skim milk or Water if you prefer. It has 25g of protein in it. I know that it comes in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. There might be other flavors but I'm not sure. Best of luck to you on your journey.
